I applaud your ambition. There were shots that were breathtaking, including one that was almost vintage John Ford. I applaud some of the camera work. I applaud much of the costuming. I certainly applaud the location. While I am not certain it holds up as a whole (I am not ertain it holds up
as a whole), you certianly deserve deserve a lot of "kudos" for what is here. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone! The best part about this contest is seeing all of the amazing films that people put together!
To think that at the same time we were shooting ... there were hundreds of other people out there coming together to make a film with such a ridiculous line in it!
Nice! Good job! So many great videos in this contest. Wanna see something cool? Like MY video? hehe I know you do. Click my name and check it out. "A Summer's Lease" I went for a kinda left wing approach. Does Andrew Summer's win against the Devil? Only one way to find out ;)
I really, really like this one. Great scenery shots...great composition and excellent wardrobe choices. The only thing I see a bit obscure is the "maturity level" element. I'm assuming it was because the brothers themselves were immature about life or was it the boy shooter who had was goaded into killing these two men to honor his father? I think this is definitely a contender...
very nice video, well filmed, good actors, great locations. funny to see it in german (brave of you to do it another language too). But i don't really get the story, and most of all don't see HOW they are faced with a situation above their maturity level??
Five Stars!!! Kudos to you, Kevin, and your brother...And all the people who collaborated on this ambitious project. Loved when the last living brother dies in the water -- old school, baby. Your submission is by far the best I've seen! All the best...
In the Texas Hill Country during the mid to late 1800s there was a huge influx of German settlers. There was much bloodshed between the German settlers, Texas frontiersman, and Mexican settlers in this region. Specifically Mexican families with wealth were easy targets for bandits and thieves and Texans werent anxious to defend the Mexicans.
In fact the Texas Regulators and Moderators could care less about helping out these "Foreigners", so families were left to defend themselves. We were trying to be as historically accurate as possible.
I wrote the dialogue in English and tried looking for a translator to train my actors. The funny thing about it is that my lead actor, who is also one of my best friends, is fluent in German and I didnt even know it.
He acted as the dialogue coach to Matt on set and did a good job of selling it!
Really thanks for your comment! About your...what can i say: well shot, beautiful location, original point of you...a western! You know, here in Italy we love it...Good Luck!
Awesome western!! Very original way to enter the project direct contest. The camera work the acting was all very well done. And the setting wish i had areas like that around me to shoot at. Excellent work.
I love the angle you guys approached with the Western backdrop. The scenery and cinematography were outstanding and the acting performances were very natural.
My great-great-great grandfather was a german-texan, and he did shoot indians as a sheriff.

You shot in 6 hours including all the wide shots? (the one high shot of the horsemen fording the river in particular looks fantastic!).
Nice work!

I think that its probably the young kid seeking revenge for the murder of his father.
Even the name of this film hits at a deeper level ... the passing of boy into manhood.

Very cool. Did you have to learn German, or did you already know it?
I'm taking German in College. So i'm just a little happy I know what you're saying without the subtitles.
