What's that? The bowling world didn't know something? After 100 years of popularity in America it took Asians to figure something out? You must be another Asian teen with no sense of history. Glenn Allison threw a "spinner" in the 50's, long before Mark Roth dominated the pro tour in the 70's with HIS 5" track. Trying to create history that isn't so just makes nobody believe you later. At this point you have no face.
what the bowling world didn't know back then was how a spinner ball can create pin action. emmet's seemingly lucky strikes are common nowadays in the asian bowling community, where bowlers with low physical attributes use the spinner (along w/ a light ball) to create pin action. emmet may be ahead for his time!
Yep, the pins do appear to be on the light side. I think Emmett's full spinner + light pins had everything to do with tripping that 2-4-5 for the strike. Unusual. The weirdest anti - break I ever got was in tournament play, a slightly high pocket hit, the 4-pin (I think) bounced off the sideboard and shoved the 7 pin completely across the lane and the pin ended up exactly in the 10 pin position without falling. The machine just picked it up, and set it down.
It didn't look like after Earl's second frame the pins reset, which is why during Earl's spare shot in the third the 7-pin is all alone. (One is one and all alone, and ever more shall be so)

Emmett coached me somewhat back in the early 80s. Great guy! The last time I saw Paul Moser was probably in the Eastern Regionals in the 80s.

Is it me, or does it seem like every video of Earl at the Showboat Invit., he had trouble on the right lane?

Better lose by another's tremendous string of luck rather than get convincingly destroyed

And I chuckled watching the woman on the lower-right portion of the screen at 7:41, shaking her head following Emmett's 6th strike. lol!

At 5:15, check out alternate Tommy Hudson doing the sign of the cross after Shutes carries a nose hit!

That was a pretty powerful hit I must admit!!! hehe : D
Guess you need to throw it through the nose more often!!!!

Shutes made a show before this, I believe - the 1977 World Open.

That was the luckiest/coolest string of strikes I've seen, just imagine if Shutes was vsing Schlegel instead of Anthony, haha.
StickTweedles87 3 years ago
Schlegel would've had an aneurism. Holman or P. Weber wouldn't have been thrilled either.
