mountain men use to make a sleeping area by smoldering a fire and covering with dirt like an oven and sleeping on top of it of course you had to vent it and it took a lot of practice but from what i read it was very comfortable

i was in a situation like this once, i didn't panic and i calmly punched some trees and and made castle in 1 day.

he has those things because they are standard survival tools. If you consider yourself a outdoorsman you should always carry a survival kit even on simple day trips because anything can happen

@maxceedo because noone ever goes out there that far into the bush with nothing more than the clothes on his back, the point of the show it too mimick a real life situation from a normal persons point of view. If say he didnt bring a small amount of food then a man of his proportions could go up to a month without food, im sure a man with hi survival skills could eventually trapped or catch something
