I started learning about the Africans in Mexico in late 2009 and have had a fascination with Afrodescendents in Latin America since then. Mexico and Latin America also did something America did not: they recognized people regardless of origin as Mexican citizens, which you already said. Since looks act as a pseudo biology, many Afrodescendents were able to pass as Indian or mestizo and were absorbed into the general population. Hence why many may be of that ancestry and are unaware of it.
You say we in Mexico deny the Afro-latino presence in our country? That is ridicules! There is Afro presence very much alive in states like Guerrero and Veracruz. Although, they are not full African anymore, they are zambo and mulato. For example, Vicente Guerrero in past and current singer Kalimba. Afro'Mexicano's are real, but only after 1492. Most Mexicans do not have Afro blood in them. If anything, they have more Spanish blood. Learning about Afro-Mexicanos is relevant but not from distorted versions of history. I started learning about the Africans in Mexico in late 2009 and have had a fascination with Afrodescendents in Latin America since then. Mexico and Latin America also did something America did not: they recognized people regardless of origin as Mexican citizens, which you already said. Since looks act as a pseudo biology, many Afrodescendents were able to pass as Indian or mestizo and were absorbed into the general population. Hence why many may be of that ancestry and are unaware of it.

Afro'Mexicano's are real, but only after 1492. Most Mexicans do not have Afro blood in them. If anything, they have more Spanish blood. Learning about Afro-Mexicanos is relevant but not from distorted versions of history. There are also other peoples who have been in Mexico for a long time since 1492; Jews, Chinese, Yugoslavians, French, Irish etc. There seems to be a sensationalist approach when discussing anything afro.

Another thing with the video, the narrator mentions "slaves" in Mexico with "African" features. During the various Indian wars in North America in the 1500-1700's many tribes were enslaved and shipped off to the Caribbean... many of the so called "africans" came from North America.

Actually "black" people were living in the Americas before the arrival of Columbus...there were black tribes of indigenous people throughout the area...many so called "negroes" actually came from the territories of the North and shipped south...some were shipped back to Spain and reshipped back to America...I have loads of information on my youtube homepage that will shed an abundant light on the subject

i remember reading a long time ago that once a law was passed that the native indigenous were not allowed to be slaves anymore and any children that they had were also free from being slaves, that many african men preferred to have children with the natives so that their offspring would not be slaves. they often lived within close proximity to each other this happened in high numbers.

well to start of by saying i have never seen a black guy in Jalisco,{where my family is from}or with the features,,,but there is blacks in Mexico,i dint know this untill i saw one of my friend here in the USA he looked black not all black but with some features,he tells me he is from Mexico i was like wtf,he was from veracruz also,so i think that the racial thing with blacks and Mexicans is the culture,im white as hell blue eyes and shit,but i get along with any Mexican cuz im Mexican,,,
