Amazing video, thanks so much. I have a quick question though, what's the advantage of using two thumb strokes, rather than thumb-ring-middle-index? I'm a classical guitarist and I just find that a lot easier.
@IxxsuffocatexxI Thanks:) There's no advantage with 2 thumb strokes as opposed to thumb-ring-middle-index unless maybe you were doing groups of five but of course it wouldn't be mandatory for thumb strokes for that either. The up and down with the thumb is cause the lesson is based off a Tosin Abasi technique and that's how he approaches it but yeah there's a few different possibilities.
I'm afraid it's not like that ... Victor Wooten explains the technique in a video ... YOU NEVER STOP PICKING, there's no tapping, hammers or somthing. See the video of Victor, you'll know.
@CrisQguitar That would be good advice if this vid was called "How to play like Victor Wooten" but this video is about a technique that Tosin Abasi uses and I learned it from a video here on you tube. I know this technique originally came from Wooten but Abasi put his on spin on it and this is it. If you'd like a link to the vid I learned this technique from let me know.
@AlecW1234 Yeah looking back I wish I would waited to make this vid cause I'm much better at this technique now than I was a few months back. I've had months of practice now but at this point I'd had maybe less than a month. Thanks:)
@gnrcr I wouldn't think so and I don't think Tosin Abasi has long nails. I find it easier to get sound/attack from the strings with slightly long nails. Thanks:)
@HunterFant Yeah I use a program called Transcribe and it slows music down as slow as you like but the pitch stays the same. Every note and accent can be heard easily. Makes AAL sound like an experimental doom band.
@HunterFant I forgot to mention that the entire "intro" can be played on a 6 string. The lowest note is a F#(7th string 7th fret) so it could also be played on the 6th string 2nd fret and take it from there. Only problem I'd have would be the feel of the thinner strings at those positions but that's just me.

Good job, but eliminate the ring finger strokes. Its all sextuplets (6 notes per beat). Nice Agile!

@shagfish
I'd like that link.
Great job btw; anyone can shred, but this is a less common technique to be good at and you can play it almost totally cleanly. I'm impressed.

OH okay. I'm gonna go work on that technique soon. Are you sure that's it? It's always seemed like fivelets to me.
