@sfcdawabn We've had a central bank going back to 1791. We live in a democratic republic. We vote for "level headed" people to make complex decisions for the public in "our interest". Those same people felt it necessary that we have a central bank because it had benefits in regulating the money supply in hard times or in times of runaway inflation. They also felt the ability for foreign countries to manipulate our economy by flooding it with gold or cheap imports was a bad thing.

So the state wants the schools to teach fact? Yes, global warming is a theory, not proven. And there are other factors that affect the planet. What is wrong with teaching fact and not the media/political agenda? It doesn't say not to teach it. You can still teach the so-called science behind it, but just mention it's theory. Evolution is a theory (I do believe in it, however) that is taught in schools, but it is taught that it is a theory. All you have to say is, it's theory, and explain.

@illahham At least the paper money issued in 1812 was backed by gold/silver. What we have now is fiat currency (since 1971), not necessarily real money. It's not a matter about what its made of, but what it is backed by. When @sfcdawabn was talking about "worthless paper", he literally meant worthless paper. Paper money in 1812 was not worthless, fiat paper money today is worthless, and can be redistributed with ease through control of interests and retraction and expansion of it.

@sfcdawabn We've had a central bank going back to 1791. We live in a democratic republic. We vote for "level headed" people to make complex decisions for the public in "our interest". Those same people felt it necessary that we have a central bank because it had benefits in regulating the money supply in hard times or in times of runaway inflation. They also felt the ability for foreign countries to manipulate our economy by flooding it with gold or cheap imports was a bad thing.

When state and small banks didn't keep tedious reserves there would be bank runs and banks would go bankrupt. And who loses out when banks go bankrupt? I'm going to guess the people who had their money in the bank. the role of government is to step in when there is a need.

@sfcdawabn The FED does little without approval. They must ultimately answer to Congress. The president appoints 7 governors to oversee all decisions. The problem is not the FED it is what is done. When it is done right it can work but that does not mean the right way to do it is to go back 200 years.

Lots of people don't know the difference between "astrological" and. "astronomical". They mistake both referring to the same area of study. Rachel Maddow is grasping at straws here as the obvious *intent* of the law was that the school not be biased towards one new scientific theory over another, science is based on being falsifiable, not on "proof". If you posit that global warming/climate change theories are not falsifiable then they are not scientific theories but pseudo-scientific ones.

NASA has found that all the planets' temps are increasing. Apparently Venus' atmosphere has increased levels of O2 and the ice on Mars is begining to melt as well. If the oil companies have the patents for a hydro engine and they will not mass produce these cars because it will put a dent in their oil sales then they should be fined (if Global Warming is real) instead the elite want to push a carbon tax on everyone, tax you for breathing cause CO2 what plants breathe is a bad gas acording to people pushing global warming. Rachel Maddow doesn't seem to realize that global warming science came about the same way global cooling science came about 15 years ago-by global control freaks who are trying to figure out a way to tax us even more through some sort of environmental tax-there were even pictures of the north pole taken in the winter and then in the summer,-- and they tried to say that the difference in the pictures was global warming when in fact it was the normal loss of snow due to seasonal changes!
