why use a sword and board combo why not a 2h do you need the intel stats or something cuz i think a 2h would kill faster or you could switch between for healing or w/e like when CDs are down use 2h then switch when CDs are up for the most effect

@Cray995 I'll entertain you, back when this was shot there were no 2handers even remotely considered for shockadin use since shocks were extremely rare in comparison to now, infact I was the only successful shockadin on my server, I know this since no other paladin with any build similar to mine could ever beat me, or almost anyone else for that matter ;) *joking* and I actually did think of that solution two years before you presented it for me =) the problem being...

@Cray995 ...being that switching weapons (which I made a macro for and shortcut) would add you an extra cooldown effect of atleast one second, and we all know what difference that makes when you smash the buttons in a fight. This internal weapon switching cooldown would interfere with your spell rotation pretty bad. But it was a very good idea from you =) I know that there are builds which allow for 2handers now but then again there are no real shocks left. They disappeared before my time ;)

@xrcflyjik I don't know how the game works anymore since I quit it about two years ago but I would presume, if it's roughly the same, that it depends on your playstyle. If you want big criticals then go with a low speed/high damage weap, if you want more consistent damage (more reliable damage output) then go with higher weapon speed and (perhaps) more intellect, if the mana pool drains too fast.

I'm all for power but I really don't know how holy damage is scaled now and off what. Besides why the hell would you want more intellect when you have a mana regen spell every minute? (or less, given the right build). Go for red all the way, provided you have enough crit.

@zacmac2 resto druids and disc priests were the hardest opponents I've ever had to face as a shockadin. people don't know what they're talkin about when they say classes like locks and mages are hard to beat. they are predictable and can't heal. druids and infact any healclass is an uphill fight for any shock. scary classes imo...

ok how does one take care of a shockadin....fear them, curse of elements and then soulfire...easy as that, i usually one shotted them as long as you get ur crit rating up high

It's a lot easier to kill a shockadin than to play one =) Besides, no theorycraft in the world will save you from a face-meltting flash in less than a second at below 60% - put in the nice hammer of wrath if you wish. Fear can be trinketed out of, curses dispelled, and soulfire - well - we can heal. See I can theorycraft too!

How do you spec to become a shockadin? What gear am i look towards?

I have a 80 paladin that has been retribution for ages, never knew about shockadins until i read up on wowwiki and now i really want one.

Basically spec in holy until you get holy shock, then spec the rest into retribution. I spec mine more into holy then ur standard shockadin so when it crits my flash of light becomes instant. Gear wise you want spell damage, spell crit and intellect as ur main attributes.

As much as I'd like to tell you that you can still spec shockadin, I have to disappoint you. You will unfortunately find the so-called shockadin builds of today being nothing bu parodies of the real deal. Shockadins' hayday was at in tbc. My advise to you is to go for a lot of healing potential and crit, focus on survivability more than raw damage.These new shocks' have more survivability than anything else.

yea but the paladin needs a few moves to kill you, its actually quite easy to kill a shockadin if u know how to play your character, just keep them stunned and try ur best, yea ofcourse he can trinket and bubble or whatever but if you know ur character u can get out of that easy, i used to play a warlock and i owned paladins, heal all you want, my burst will pwn you b4 u can say "trinke....."

Thats why if you're a shockadin nowadays you spec into the ret tree for judgements of the wise, repentance, and divine purpose. No ret pally can keep me stunned and im not worried about repentance. And warlocks are made to own paladins :) I own many with mine :P even back in BC mages and Warlocks beat paladins usually. Its melee classes we destroy :)

Shock is dead brah, you cant crank out that kind of instant damage anymore. The removal of sanc aura and the addition of the judgement gdc effectively killed it. Its a non-existent spec now.

Their goal was to eliminate the shockadin, since 2.4 made it a powerful pvp build for healers back then, we all know ret was shit so our only interesting alternative was to heal and do damage. This decision must have came from Blizzard themselves and not from other players since there were too few shocks to make anything but ripples in the ocean of rogues and resto druids back then. Blizzard live up to their name - they destroy everything we create.

Resiliance destroyed major crit based classes (Frost mage, Destruction Warlock Dagger Rogue, etc...). PoMpyro mages obliterated everything in one single shot before resilience, rogues nuked down a target before they could get a move out, warlocks plain owned everything in battlegrounds. Those weren't nerfs those were BALANCE issues. Oh and don't get me started on reckoning....
