I dont know about the losi...but the rustler VXL is not a basher. it is weak sauce and shit breaks left and right. not to mention it is far to low and has zero ground clearance.

I use my Rustler for pure speed grass runs only...One litle jump and the car might snap in half.

and if u want longer run time buy a lipo but u can get up to 60 with a good 8 cell but no run time lol

Oh! And how many parts did you break that day? Bound to be a few... Losi's are REALLY good performance wise, but are a little less durable than Traxxas or TA... (I still like Losi the most though)

You need more practice jumping =D Brake right when you leave the jump then add a little throtle while air born... I have a 6.5 brushless and lipo set up... Its how land flat... Or of course you could do full thotle the whole time and try for the backflip :))

the rustler is a great basher it will break occasionally but that happens with all rc cars

the beauty of the rustler is often over looked but the fact that you can go to any hobby shop and i guarantee they will have almost any replacement part for it in stock .

for the battery you will want to get a high quality 6 or 7 cell nimh battey with at least 3800 mah

i suggest the ener-g 4200 from promatching batteries its an amazing battery for an unbelievable price

You've got the right truck, stick with it.

Note to Losi fans: Don't take this too seriously, it's just my opinion. Haven't owned a single Losi (well, I've had two micro-T's but they don't count) but I've had 8 different Traxxas' vehicles so I might be a little biased. :D

it really depends on your personal preference, traxxas is the poster child of RC...yeah they have a lot of cool RC's and get lots of attention. Ther are great for the casual RC peeps and beginners. But Team Losi and Team Associated are the two that get all the championships. Losi is more "tune-able" than traxxas ;)

Lol, speed-t, what a joke. I can't believe they even sell it brushless ready when the tranny can't help it. I know a guy who has a speed-t, and he hates it. On 3s lipo, he gets about three passes before the tranny is destroyed. On 2s, he can drive for about 5 minutes before the tranny is eaten up. And that is on-road! Take it off-road, and he cannot use anything besides a 6-cell nihm if he wants to get at least halfway through a pack. Lol, losi, what a joke.

yeah i kinda found that out i got a speed t roller off ebay and installed the vxl system in it and i have broken 3 parts (rear a arm, shock tower, and front bulkhead) in 3 runs!!! im gonna get graphite soon so i hope that will solve the problem. otherwise i love it to death it jumps excellently and if you have the right tires on it it handles well.

Hey, I have a speed-t and I put the stampede VXL tires and wheels on it. It's so badass now, but even with a 7 cell pack I cant get it to wheelie on pavement, any suggestions? I also have the diff balls and the spur is tight

I jsut ordered my Speed-t form the LHS and was readign the manual online, and it said it wasn't greared for offroad and especially grass

Rustler is waaaaaaay more durable than the speed-t. If you wanna race, get a speed-t, if you wana bash, get a rsutler. By the way. the VXL system may be a lower kv than the losi one, but I will tell you it is alot better. It has a larger armature, and longer shaft, so it will have more torquue and run cooler. I suggest the VXL rsutler, but of course I am biased towards it! :P

Copy that - Everytime (and I mean everytime) we've gone bashing or just plane driving together with my friend & his Speed-T, he hasn't been able to finish one 3S pack before the Losi was immobile. Usually it's the diff (ball or locked) that's been broken. Also bearings are eager to break, once even one bearing from the motor was ruined. My E-Firestorm just keeps on going. Or kept, since I just sold it to my friend... :D

all this video proofs is that the vxl OWNS the speed t in many ways i aint going to start a big rant cuz i have a vxl but look at the video closly and see that the the vxl is WAY faster then the speed t ok it might be the lipo i dont know if they bothe have the same lipo in it or not but what i do see is that the vxl broke cuz it was just to fast the driver was riding it harder aswel so yes we saw a 6 min video whit 4 mins speed t and 2 mins vxl lol VXL POWER!!!!!! xd ;)

For $30 more the Losi comes with a Spektrum Radio, threaded aluminum shocks and a higher KV motor which means that low range batteries will go alot faster. Might pay though to buy some 2.2" truck wheels and tyres off the Traxxas Stampede (taller than other tyres) to do some serious offroad bashing
