there is a misconception that people in the past ate less or had less access to nutrient dense foods. ever live on a farm? enviromental enforced famine as it were. well this is a myth. they ate plenty, I heard one statistic they averaged 5000 caloires per day, probably due to high exercise, so exercise increases hunger. so it negates caloire deficiets of exercise. but we have access to low quality carbs and fat. this is teh problem, not eating to much.
I understand it to be a famine feast cycle on a thrifty gene biology. hypo caloires and poor nutrtion diet without hypocaloire diet cause obesity and metabolic syndrome. not enough sun bathing and low fat diets are the biggest culprit next in line to processed high gi foods with low nutrients like vita a, c, d, k minerals selienium, chormium, zinc etc. my husband over a 2 year period lost 50 pounds just by reducing his gi food intake. and omega 3 intake. he wasn't trying to lose either.
