"Don't worry... I mean... counters might seem overwhelming at first but eventually mnhumnndadaa, you know?"

  • hahahaha this is so much better than my jap teacher :D

  • I love the subliminal appearance of Nietzsche when you say にち. That's now carved to my subconscious mind forever. ^^

  • Your so cute, I'm jealous.. I'm going to complain to my mom and ask her Why she didn't give me a better looking face..

  • Replayed your song over and over. Amazing. It's just so amazing. :D

  • They aren't English numbers. They're called Arabic numerals.

  • @TheNubbbler I love how people don't give the Arabs credit for modern math because without their 'Golden Age' we would not be as far as we are now.

  • @genuinebbuck Actually they're not Arabic numbers either. Arabs adopted them from, wait for it, Indians. Look it up. Quote from Wikipedia: "Its glyphs are descended from the Indian Brahmi numerals."

  • @genuinebbuck And yea, about hindu-arabic numberals. There is some indication they come from Chinese. Mind boggling. :)

  • days of the week

  • What's the difference between よお and よう...?

Aren't they both said with the same long o sound?

Thank you for the song~ it helps a lot :)

  • Cool - thanks for this video. Very helpful!

  • Is he single?xD

  • lol.

  • Thank you again for an awesome video

  • 2:54 lol!

  • sugoi des ne!

  • Sugoi desu* ne... If u dun write it correctly in romaji.. u wont b able to do it in kana..

  • gomen, jajajaja

The problem is that I CAN write in KANA, Hiragana and Katakana, writing again in "roumaji" (you just wrote it wrong) is a waste of time and is just messy, because the roumaji can be adapted to the nature of the student, so is different for the english speaking and the spanish speaking people. Excuse me if it wrote it wrong. (And try to wrote the correct words in english OK?, you just wrote so bad...)

wakarimashitaka (I write it in roumaji for you to understand. douitashimashite)

  • soo desu ne.

  • wow this is the most productive vid ive seen from him =o~ sum1 once told me teh history on Hatachi but i fear i dun remember much =o was something like.. hanging by a tooth =o or something x3

  • TEAR!!!

  • I love it koichi your so funny, your song will be stuck in my head now,lol

  • Eventually you'll what?

  • my japanese teacher showed our class this video to help us learn the days of the month.

  • I have to say, i think our song for learning the Japanese days of the month owns! Ha ha, good video by the way.

  • My sensei taught as the lone ranger version. Your version was helpful as well. Ariagatou Gozaimasu.

  • I just started my unit on days of the month, week, and time in online classes. This song is a life saver. Thanks!

  • WOW i learnt it in litterally 2 minutes.. I could never learn that until now.. thanks for the HELP!

  • when do you ever use the word "shi" for the number 4? :o i always get confused when to use yon or shi

    thank you for reading!

  • i think shi=death thats why.

  • on occational occations. (wait, that sentence sounded either really bad or kinda great...)

for example, we have the months which are as following:

1ichigatsu, 2nigatsu, 3sangatsu 4[shi]gatsu, 5gogatsu, 6rokugatsu, 7[shichi]gatsu, 8hachigatsu, 9[ku]gatsu. notice that there's one more expectation to the days of the month; 19juukunichi [ku instead of kyuu] (same goes for 29)

  • Lol.

  • lol you're sooo funny! XD I remember learning these for the first time. It's literally taken about 3-4 times of sorta re-learning for me to remember them by heart. But I didn't know about 14 and 24 etc, so thanks Koichi!! ^^

  • this is off topic but, ive been noticing your hair! You look awesome with it long! And the glasses make it look extra cool! Oh I was wondering how do you memorise Japanese? I'm going to be doing a degree next year in languages and linguistics and I am doing Mandarin major, Japanese and Spanish minor. So memorising tips would help alot :)

  • This is a great video! Helped me so much! My only question is in the numbers 1-10, do you still say 日(にち)after each number?

  • nope, you don't say "nichi," even though the kanji is there.

  • omg this was like the hardest thing 2 get at first

  • wow your amazing koichi. intelligence is hot. i just subscribed. xoxo

  • I kinda got a bit lost at the beginning and the end part with the song. ^^;

  • Haha! yea, sure I know!!

  • Ha ha ha, I love that song!

  • I couldn't help but laugh when you said "i' ll be singing a song at the end of the video"...

Not like a mean laugh or anything...

  • XD yay that was a great song. it should be in the charts. really. ^^

  • lol @ the picture of nietzsche

  • who is he?

  • Koichi.

  • Famous German philosopher, lol.

  • thanks! im only in jr. high so i didnt know...

  • So am i and i knew, dont use your age as an excuse for unintelligence, it doesn't work...

  • hahaha! love how u threw in the picture of Nietzsche

  • "日" also has other meaning~! like 日你妈 !

  • most kanji symbols also have various meanings *part of what makes it such a pain to learn* , but i guess not everybody knows that so thanks for letting us know i guess

  • sometimes, japanese can sound like finnish. it's strange... but some words !

  • Ugh, this would've been helpful last week before my last Japanese test. When I was looking for a way to memorize them, I had to settle for the annoying Australian rap under "Related Videos." But thanks for posting this! Now I can learn them better.

  • yay thank you!

  • hahahahhaahaha

  • かっこいい

    ありがとう

  • That actually doesn't seem all that bad.

  • I just learned this with my tutor!hahaha.

    Great Song. so cute.

  • that was awesome, really!

  • cool vid!

it really helped, and the song rocked!

    ^_^

  • Awesome. I didn't know that. :)

  • Excellent thanks very much.

I haven't been studying Japanese very long and when I reached the days of the week/month I felt like banging my head against a wall. Up until that point Japanese grammar had seemed remarkably straightforward, almost elegant.

Then I spared a thought for students of English having to memorize the names of our days/months that are derived from Norse mythology and Roman history!

    I don't complain as much now :o)

  • Lol at song.

  • Thanks for the upload Koichi!

  • First! maybe?

  • I am the second one!
