My dog Alfie he is a staffy cross Rhodesian Ridgeback and the previous owners before me said that the people who bred his parents tried to breed a vicious dog.... and now he is the softest thing in the world they tried to make him fight and he ended up with a hole in his chest from a dog bite, poor thing. i love him to bits though

Interestingly I've had little dogs all my life & been bitten by little dogs (not by mine) Accordingly I've always considered them much more aggressive & unpredictable than bigger dogs. Small dog syndrome perhaps.

I hate it when people assume pit bulls are evil dogs. Uh NO THEY'RE NOT ! Any and all dogs can be evil, it all depends on it's owner ! Duh, iff you treat the dog like sh*t, and train the dog to be mean clearly the dog will grow up that way. But iff you're kind and gentle to em then they'll grow up to be the sweetest things ever. It's very sad that the breed is damaged due to the bad nature of people. That being said when you own an animal with that potential you need to have it under your full control ie on a lead when you're in public. You're animal may not be aggressive or start a fight but when it has to defend itself it will do more damage than any other breed of dog. You have to consider why the breed was hybridized in the first place...because people love bloodsport and will bet on anything.
The dog is bred for fighting. I'm sure they can be great pets, but why have a dog bred for fighting as a pet? They run a higher risk of being aggressive and when they are aggressive they are a lot more dangerous than many other breeds. People buy these dogs knowing full-well what their reputation is and wanting to show it off as an extension of themselves.

Pitbulls are not violent by nature. They are violent because of the way ppl are treating them and rasing them. The only reason pitbulls should ever become extinct is cause ppl abuse them and dont care for them. If you raise them right like a child they will become good animals. These dog were bred to fight bears. it's in their blood to wanna fight. Not all of them are violet but still in their nature. and they can turn on you in a sec. I don't trust them at all. But I do love animals. You have to raise them up around people so they can be loving dogs. My mom had one and every time I came home to visit, she would get me to feed him and i would have to spray him in the face with the water hose to keep him back in order to feed him. It's very sad that the breed is damaged due to the bad nature of people. That being said when you own an animal with that potential you need to have it under your full control ie on a lead when you're in public. You're animal may not be aggressive or start a fight but when it has to defend itself it will do more damage than any other breed of dog. You have to consider why the breed was hybridized in the first place...because people love bloodsport and will bet on anything.

The dog is bred for fighting. I'm sure they can be great pets, but why have a dog bred for fighting as a pet? They run a higher risk of being aggressive and when they are aggressive they are a lot more dangerous than many other breeds.
