  • I have been doing behind the neck shoulder presses for a while now. I gained strength in my middle and anterior deltoids. Also, I increased my definition in those areas. I don't listen to alot of these guys because most of these men dont possess the heart or discipline to look like a professional bodybuilder.

  • I disagree !! If you do rotator cuff assistance exercises you can do the behind the necks safely and easily and your shoulders get massive !! Also this exercise extend your thoracic shoulder complex and adds flexibility to an already stiff shoulder - pec connected area !!! Especially if you bench press too much !!! but HEY !! that's my advice !! You can do whatever the FUCK you wanna do !!!!!

  • @Nippon1971 The problem is that you consistently weaken the rotator cuff overtime.. you may not even know it until you hit 40-50 but when it snaps it snaps

  • I snapped my shit up doing this exercise... 24 years old, pinched nerve in my neck... 4 months of PT and I'm still not completely healed. Lot's of weakness in my right arm, getting it back though... slowly. Oh and did I mention the pain? Unreal... Couldn't even eat fucking cereal. Do yourself a favor and stay the FUCK away from anything "behind the back" -- it doesn't do ANYTHING FOR YOU.

  • I use to do that shit but then i noticed a lot of snappin and crackin in my shoulder and did the regular shoulder press and it gave me a better pump and no pain.

  • Behind the Neck Press brings out your lateral head more than the military to the front. The greatest of bodies have done behind the neck press and didn't receive any problems. The problem with this exercise and why it has a bad rep is because people use too much weight when starting. You're suppose to start low and move onto heavy. Never start heavy on any exercise. That's how you SNAP SOME SH*T UP!

  • I've been doing BTN Shoulder press and I love it. I'm 6'5'' as well. lol. The biggest mistakes is when newbies put 250lbs of weight and try to shoulder press it. Stupid, hell yeah that'll mess up ya' shoulders all up. For those types, do presses to the front, but the BTN shoulder press has so many benefits. hits all heads of the deltoids and widens out the shoulders more. You'll be a walking barn-yard if you perfect it.

  • I was subscribe until this video, you seriously don't have a clue about bodybuilding if your posting stupid advice like this. Any shoulder exercise you have the chance to snap your rotator cuff, and the worse exercise for snapping it is side raises. If your that worried about snaping something why do you work out?

  • @ajpro2666 Wrong. Did you even look this up? The position of the weight is behind the plane of the body puts huge stress in the form of sheer force on the rotator cuffs.

    Side raises are one of the least stressful and lowest impact exercises in the gym.

  • what other exercises do you do for shoulders? at the moment my 3 main shoulder movements are dumbell shoulder press (and i do the arnorld variation) up right row and some standing rear lateral raises. but i my shoulder work out is already my sortest workout and your telling me not to do the up right row

  • I have long arms and i have been doing this exercise for 2years heavy with no problem.Most people who injure themselves try to lift too heavy when they ve never done this exercise before.Work your way up and it should not be a problem.

  • Well, my take is that you should be extra careful in doing behind the neck presses and use relatively low weight as this is also a stretching movement.

  • All behind the back stuff like shoulder press or lat pull down is much better, however most people do not have even bodies which is why you have problems with them. Stretch your chest out a ton which forces your shoulders back and down (natural position) and you can do the exercises no problem. Do lots of research before attempting them and look at lots of posture videos to see if you are aligned correctly enough to attempt them. If you aren't perfect than yes Snap City

  • TBH i like behind the neck press, im 6,5 so i am very tall :P (195cm). I Feel more of a contraction in my shoulders, but well that is just me. I do them standing up with no crazy weights though, so i can perform 8-12 reps.

  • this is exactly how i snapped my lower back , i was doing shoulder press standing , weight was too heavy , lost my balance and SNAAAAAAAAAAAP , out for two years and still haven't fully recovered !
