dude my first army/game i chose brettonia, my own fully painted and bought, i had a 1000 point game against dark elves, i had no magic no trebuchet's 8 knights of the realm, 16 bowmen and the rest men at arms

now tey are all realm knights and the ones who survived are grail knights XD

Which army would you recommend to a Samurai fanatic like myself? Mainly melee combat, little to no magic, heavy armor, still fairly quick, and with at least decent archery.

@gravisamurai89 Hmm.. I'm not really sure. Magic is such a dominating factor in this edition, its hard to just void it...

Might I suggest either a Dark Elf army with a Ring of Hotek ?

Or

Warriors of Chaos.

There isnt really, in my opinion, a 'samurai' or oriental themed army (epic disappointment), but those armies might have what you're looking for and give you some opportunities to convert one up? ;)

@gravisamurai89 I would say Dark Elves or High Elves, because they have some units called Executioners for the Dark Elves and Sword Masters of Hoeth for the High Elves, and they have really big swords. With the killing blow rule, the elves would be your best choice for a fantasy army with a samurai element in it.

@gravisamurai89 High Elves have a special rule that basically means they ALWAYS go first in combat. The Sword Masters of Hoeth are guys that use awesome two-handed swords like samurai, which would normally go last (being great weapons), but they have that rule.

They have some really awesome heavy armor units, like the White Lions, who are pretty badass. Their archerys OK, but their magic is actually some of the best. Also, Asthetically, High Elves strike me as Samurai.

lol I recall them having to get rid of dark eldar cause they were too good in 40k, as fer dark ELVEs...I think they were still pretty epic

@blackbelt807 yea I´d say give it a try. I just have to paint some sourus and about 20 skinks and I´m able to play a 3500pts game :)

the finished army looks fantastic! and also when you´re able to play bigger battes (1500-2000+) your army will slaughter your enemy.

What would you call the best army in Fantasy to choose in your humble opionion?

as i'm looking to start.. but all i get from these videos is a lot of Jargon that goes over my head.. so DE worth getting? or d0rfs? or others?

@Clarkson24601 Hmm.. I'm not really sure if I would call out a single army book as 'the best'. To be fair, I've seen seemingly undefeatable daemons lists that got absolutely crushed by Wood Elves of all things haha

If your new to fantasy and are just starting out, a vast majority of armies are finesse armies that require a lot of experience and game knowledge to effectively play. Seeing as you want a competitive list, might I suggest a Warriors of Chaos army? It's always been my personal(contd)

@linkinhearts666 favourite. They are fairly simple to play and help you to get a better understanding of the game. Good armour, smaller model count and strong magic.

I recommend going for something simpler because some lists (such as Dark Elves) can be very unforgiving on a new player, quite often discouraging them. Fantasy, like all wargames, is about maximising strengths to cover weaknesses. So for the moment - keep it simple! ;)

i got to say, on the colour painting front that dark elves are great fun tio paint all those runes and cloth and armour and all of it on basic troops. Constantly a power gamers choice becuase of their fines ability dark elves are one of my favorite races and "dark, doesent always mean dark" I mean thevibrant colours you can slap on them is awesome! great vid as always.
