  • 2:30 the saddest scene in the entire movie....god I wouldn't know what to do in their situation. Basically you are certain you will die on the island, they had no chance of victory....you probably think to yourself....why are we fighting? Then the children start to sing.....That's who you are fighting for!!! The families back home, you are fighting for them.....Japan had and still have my respect. The beautiful sad feeling of this scene got to my heart

  • ahh, the japanese should have tried to stealthily take the american position instead of mounting a charge, h well, it was honorable

  • Ok fine, so you don't hate all Japanese (saying "Japs" btw, makes you sound racist and is an insult to all Japanese, not just those who committed war crimes, of which the VAST majority did not on Iwo Jima, any more than the Americans).

I doubt you respect the brave Japanese soldiers on Iwo Jima who loved their grandmothers, wives and kids. The ones that were conscripted, loved their 1000 year old culture, and were more peaceful that you. You should salute those, as you do American veterans.

  • The Japanese soldiers on Iwo Jima did their duty, which was their job. The Japanese High command killed these soldiers, reimplementing the tradition that it was dishonorable to surrender. During the Russo-Japanese War, many Japanese soldiers surrendered and were taken prisoner and returned home honorably at the wars successful end.

  • this is one of the most interesting scenes in any war movie; seeing a relationship between an elite, experienced patriotic general and a non-elite, non-patriotic soldier w/ the rank of private/corporal. both love their motherland, but not in the same way, and have different personal convictions. yet, they are able to create a small friendship. i'm sure this doesn't happen ofen

  • I respect the Japanese people. Like the Germans (which Iam one of them) theyre a proud and honorable people with a rich culture and history, but like the Germans at the time, they came to embrace their warrior culture which blindly led Japan to enter WW2 . They were no where ready, especially their merchant fleet . The Buddhist Nichiren foretold that Japan would be invaded by a foreign power as punishment for straying from the true path of Buddhism .

  • I'm not saying the Japanese weren't brave . Nowhere in there did I say that so dont go shooting your mouth off at me . I'm merely saying it was a weakness for them; the way they were taught and the Japanese ideas of totalitarianism and militarism at the time .

  • And in doing so it makes them inferior machines with the inability to distinguish themselves from the other members of their group . That it was either collective thought and ideals or nothing at all, which was definitely not western like the U.S. and other nations excluding Germany at the time (even then there was a greater sense of individuality when it came to military affairs unlike the Japanese where it was very seldom) .

  • He was refering to the dangers of a military culture that places the values of the military and its education above all other aspects of normal life .

  • There's a quote from Aristotle. He was refering to the ancient Spartans, but I think this best fits the Japanese as well . He said: "It is the standards of civilized men not of beasts that must be kept in mind, for it is good men not beasts who are capable of real courage. Those like the Spartans who concentrate on the one and ignore the other in their education turn men into machines and in devoting themselves to one single aspect of city's life, end up making them inferior even in that."

  • i lov the song by the children of nagano

  • @RISEagainst6543 actually, your right. Their higher ups brainwashed them into thinking the Americans were demons who would skin them and eat them alive if they were captured. Thats why most of them fought to the death or committed suicide

  • TENNNO HEIKA BANZAI call of duty soo many bad memories

  • a man that ruined all the movie dude i was happy i said finally somone who is not missing part

  • a man that ruined all the movie dude

  • fucking war - what a waste of human life

  • @darkkramer666 too bad violence in a brain overlapes wiht pleasure and Sex

  • Anyone who doesn't respect these brave Japanese soldiers who died on Iwo Jima is an asshole fuck of the first rank, not to mention a bigot, a close-minded redneck, or simply someone unwilling to see things as different than simply black and white. -- from a blue eyed, blond haired American.

  • @mygoatisdead why the fuck do you care for these chink ass mother fuckers. apparently your the closed minded redneck because clearly you fail to see what those fuckers did. it was so brave and honorable how they bombed pearl harbor huh? it was great how they treated their POW's! ever heard of the bataan death march? i hate every single jap soldier of ww2.

acting like japs are good people just because you watched a Hollywood movie by Clint Eastwood.

    --from an American

  • @xxuncexx

If you think some 19 year old Japanese soldier in 1945 (or any year) had anything to do with the bombing of Pearl Harbor then you're a fucking moron of the 1st degree. We've already established that you're ignorant and racist so I figured why not add a 3rd conviction to your sorry ass.

You have no understanding that it's the individual that counts, and THAT is what makes you ignorant, even childish. I'm done.

    -From an American

  • @mygoatisdead dumbass, did you not just say "japanese soldiers" in your last comment? when did anyone fucking mention the character IN A MOVIE! im not fucking racist you retard. i clearly said i hated the soldiers of ww2. the ones today are cool and make your fucking cars. so you still like the japanese for bombing pearl harbor?

THAT is what makes you a ignorant dumbass who cant put up a good argument and makes stuff up as he goes. I'm done.

    -From an American

  • @xxuncexx

When I mentioned "19 year old" I was talking about all the young Japanese soldiers on Iwo Jima (and I'm not refering to the movie), and how they have NOTHING to do with any atrocities. These were conscripted young men, their task was to defend Iwo Jima. They were honorable, brave, free from guilt, devoted to their 1000 year old culture, loved their grandma, many hated violence, many were less violent than you, honorable human beings.

  • @mygoatisdead Anyone who doesn't respect these brave Japanese soldiers who died on Iwo Jima is an asshole fuck of the first rank, not to mention a bigot, a close-minded redneck, or simply someone unwilling to see things as different than simply black and white. -- from a blue eyed, blond haired American.

thats what you said. i see no "19 year old soldier"

just because a soldier is "loyal" doesnt make him good.

    New comment>>>>

  • You seem like a decent fellow, you like cats, but I wish you could understand that it's not appropriate to blame each and every Japanese soldier. Holding someone guilty by association is inherently racist, is bigotry (or at least it's what causes it). It's "inherited guilt", and that's nonsense. You hate the individual for something that people he never knew did, and that's extremely disrespectful. The vast majority of those brave Japanese were honorable, just like those attacking them.

  • @mygoatisdead al qaeda mambers are "loyal" to osama and crshed 2 planes into the WTC. they were brave, do you respect them? my point is just because your "honorable, brave, free from guilt, devoted to their 1000 year old culture, loved their grandma" doesnt mean you should honor them. especially when they killed thousands of your guys and you know dam right they started it. read how good your honorable soldiers are. seriously look this up. Bataan death march. go on wiki

  • @xxuncexx

When are you going to stop saying "they"? Why is it so hard for you to stop believing in the individual? What the hell do terrorists killing civilians in the world trade center have to do with young conscripted boys defending Iwo Jima (many against their will even). What would you do if you were born in Tokyo in the 20s? You would be right the fuck on Iwo Jima defending the guy next to you.

  • @mygoatisdead dude anyone put in war is forced to fight. even in the US. what im saying is that if you were captured you dont know what the fuck japs will do to you. read up on what they did to POWs. terrorist killed civilians, japanese killed civilians. china? yeah in germany what happened to some POWs? bunched together and excuted with MG42s.

  • @mygoatisdead okay lets just put it this way and end this. yes there are few "good" japanese soldier like your 19 year old. but the majority were kind of brain washed and turned in to the assholes i hate just so much. okay but yes some had common sence and werent "that bad"

there does that sum it up?

  • @xxuncexx

Most of them (just like German soldiers), were decent people, not bloodthirsty, just everyday guys. That's what happens when you take a massive cross-section of society and draft them all. Time for me to go to sleep. Sleep well. (signing off).

  • @mygoatisdead ley me show my respect!!! BANZAI!!!!!!!!!

  • @mygoatisdead Senseless sacrifice and subordination is cowardess, not bravery. The deserters proved much more courage than those who died by suicide or in banzai attacks.

  • @Skandalos Really?

So running at superior technology and more numbers is cowardly compared to raising your hands and saying I give up? Your full of garbage and like he said, your probably a bigot.

  • @TheJafrikan They ran at superior technology and numbers because they feared their own officers more than the enemy. Simple as that. They acted out of fear, nothing else. No, I dont expect a moron like you to understand that.

  • @Skandalos Maybe you should read some books. That is not the case at all... They felt that they had a spiritual duty to fight to the end. It would be if a country invaded America. I dont know about you, but I would fight to the bitter end. Surrender is for the weak. The weak like you.

  • @mygoatisdead uncouth nigga

  • @mygoatisdead the japs killed iggy... and stuffed his Genitalia into his mouth, after being stabbed from bayonets multiple times, he was tortured. i do not respect these Japs, nor do i you. YOU might as well be Hitlers son. your not a true American, my grand father, and grate grandfather fought on Iwo Jima, and lived, because there true Americans, TRUE Marines. who kicked Japanese ass.

  • @soulleskill

I'm sorry you still feel so much hate towards all Japanese. Many Americans who fought Japan, including many on Iwo Jima do not hate all Japanese. Of course I understand hating those that committed war crimes. Do you know how many Americans on Guadalcanal killed Japanese, cut off their ears and wore them as necklaces?

Hate the ones who committed crimes, don't be a racist and hate ALL Japanese -- that's ignorant and stupid. I might even say "grow up".

  • @mygoatisdead LOL i don't hate all Japs, just the ones who did commit the war crimes, i would have worn a Jap-ear necklace any day, its a trophy, everyone fears you, but we did not torture them, if we did, they were dead quick enough, Iggy spent 3 days being Tortured with his eyes being cut out, ears cut off, tong cut off, genitalia, broken arm, and the back of his head was caved in, the Americans didn't even do that to the Gooks (VC) in Vietnam, you don't know anything kid, YOU grow up.

  • @soulleskill You've obviously never heard of the Mai Lai Massacre so much for "Americans didn't even do that to the Gooks" cause they did worse they killed and raped and entire village of civilians......

  • @JcM944 Those arnt true Americans son.... there Nazi Bastard's!!

  • @JcM944 theres a difference .. thats like calling all germans nazis and calling all arabs the taliban.. im not american so dont say im defending .. the my lai massacre was ordered by the cap. and if the soldiers didnt do what they were ordered they wouldve been shot by him.. thats actually what happened ,, but if that was me in that platoon i wouldve just asked him to shoot me

  • at 6:14 was that a jap that died i am pretty sure it was

  • Obvious Troll is obvious...at a clearly inappropriate time.

  • @TNGBigTy187 u racist! hop u die being killed by an american like you

  • Is the part when they attack same like the original attack

  • @TNGBigTy187 wow what a big hero you are by saying your american. A racist one at that too. You fucking ignorant prick the Japanese who died at Iwo Jima had mothers too. If you're going to be a Racist American Patriot like this douche bag then don't go posting it on youtube. keep that shit for your private life, we don't need to fucking hear it.

  • like the alamo....kinda

  • i hate watching 8.5. iv seen the video else where. the two guys who surrendered were killed by the two assholes that didnt want to stay back watching them.

  • @KiidFrozt What?! No way! Thats so queer! Damit why did the uploader miss out on that part. Thats so dumb, but hell its war, and a bunch of fucked up shit happens like that. I bet this same sort of situation occurred numerous times, and I bet the Japanese did the same thing.

  • Nice going deleting the scene where the US marines kill two Japanese POWs. It seems ironical that the person that went to the trouble uploading this fine movie obviously hasn´t understood the message from it at all...

  • @DanielosII exactly, what a fucking moron

  • What happens in 8.5? The Americans kill the prisoners?

  • 8.5 was too graphic and its absence reveals a bias towards the killers.

  • who cares, God maybe it got banned or something.

  • wheres 8.5 man

  • i bet this guy has a 8.5 inch dick thats why he didnt upload it

  • And that's a bad thing?

  • 8.5?!

  • Where's 8.5?
