This is great! I saw Moon do one better in 1969 - one of the first times they played Tommy in NYC. In the start, there's just guitar, and Moon was raring to go, so he oozed over the drums and sent them flying off the riser. He got up like lightning, set up all the drums again, and the mikes, and the cymbals, and ran around and setup the drum stool, sat down and grabbed the sticks and hit the cymbals in time for the first drum cue! I've always wondered why I've never read about it. Amazing!
God give a great value to symbols for this who make music metal end for fall under the curse To avoid corruption of the young and to protect his many friends who are metal "lorenzojhwh"states that from now symbol of the metal are the flowers everyone choose his flower and he is happy rich blessed full of friends and women. Why falling to death under the misfortune of the Satanists and give up all this happiness that God wants give to you filling of fragrant flowers the your hands?God bless you
3:51-4:25 Now that dude, was on, and probably still is on crack/cocaine lol. Amazing show. Even though he tryed to steal the spotlight I guess one would say from Pete. The guy with the harmonica actually did an OK job. *shrugs*. Pete's the man.
Amazing version. It's always affecting when you hear a WHO classic sung by Pete. The dynamics of the songs change and become a bit different. Roger has such a different vocal attack and style than Pete. The difference is very cool. It's like it's Pete doing a cover of one of his own compisitions!
Also, 55qwerty, Rabbit has nothing to do with the the keyboard break in this song. It is taped, as it has always been. Pete broke the string while the tape rolled, and was able to pull it off without much notice. As you can see Rabbit on the side, almost in panic, signaling the sound guy to either stop the tape or let it roll...we can see Pete start the tape...
Hi- Rabbit is counting off the end of the taped section to the rest of the band. If you listen closely, you can also here a metronome "click" track for the last couple of measures before the section ends. As a long time member of the touring band, he'd be in a perfect position to cue the other performers while Pete is doing is rockstart thing out front. Definitely a slick guitar switch.
That was a very slick guitar change - at a critical moment. Cheers to his crew. Not the best version I've heard, tho. This is 'symphony' Who - which is not the real, down and dirty Who....Pete is the man, no doubt.
This video is another example of just how incredible of a bass player John Entwistle was. Nobody can get the same sound, not even someone hand picked by Pete Townshend.
Interesting version. Thanks for sharing. Also, I loved the trivia regarding the broken string. That was amazing how fast the switch happened! Wonder if "Roger Allman" (?) Townsends tech HEARD the string break? Still incredibly fast!
Oh, give it up, would you? Townshend was aquitted, can't you just listen to the music and accept it as music without making judgements on people whose characters you obviously don't know much about? Anyway, back on subject, what a fantastic version of a fantastic song! So professional from Pete and his roadie. Wonderful.
The story he came up with was the story he had 30 years before all the porn stuff happened. Hence the whole existence of Tommy. Yes he did, but no images were ever found and he was aquitted. And what I'm trying to say is to just let it go, and appreciate the music which is all the guy wants.

yeah you said he was found with his credit card details on a child porn site! ill tell ya what, you put your credit card on a pedo site and tell your mom, dad, wife, kids, and family that its ok
All I'm saying is that there was no malicious intent in what he did. The term paedophile means literally, "child lover ". How Townshend can be described as a paedophile when he has had two adult wives, has been aquitted by a legal system that's actually pretty good and has been abused himself is beyond me. Townshend has obviously been very scarred by waht happened to him, as the fact that he couldn't write songs like "Fiddle About" for Tommy shows. He can hardly talk about it now.
The police weren't afraid to imprison Chris Langham for pornography, despite the fact that he was in the public eye far more than Townshend was. I would fear Ian Huntley and Chris Langham. If I saw Pete Townshend down the street, I would try to talk to him. I think we'll have to agree to disagree here, you believe what you want, and I'll believe what I want. That's all I'm going to say on this, because I want to just enjoy the music for what it is which is obviously how it was intended to be.
UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE GETTING FOOLED. AGAIN AND AGAIN..

I personally think Pete has a better voice than Roger. I'm not saying they don't need roger, roger has an incredible, energetic personality on stage.
VanACDC1979 3 years ago
I disagree. I think Roger's voice is much better suited for lead vocals for the genre of music the Who perform.
Pete Townshend does have a good strong voice, but I honestly think his talents lie more in his songwriting and guitar playing.
