  • I hate to be the ignorant one here, but what ever happened to the M5s?

  • Why did they have to kill the M1-M6s? Thay were the Icon of Metro-North, New Haven, and LIRR! At the MOST they should've come out with entirely new models that share the same body, windows, and overall exterior design with the previous models! Why did the MTA have to ruin a legend?

  • no the R44/R46's were built after the m1's they were built in 1976. they were called bicentenial cars. and the difference between m1's and m3's are the cab windows. and the horns

  • I honestly don't see a different between the M1 and M3 as well as the M2,4, and 6

  • 9001 @ 0:12 was the first Budd M-1 car put into production.

  • Why weren't there any M5's?

  • I saw an M8 railcar roll by New Rochelle train station today at about 1pm and I almost shit myself, I couldn't get my phone out to record it in time but I found out it was only a test train on its way back to new haven

  • What song is that

  • what is the name of this tune. i like it. and especially that M8. looks great.

  • keep up the good work.i rember when the m1 m2 came out back in the 70s.now the its time for the m7 m8.

  • I'am going to take ride on them M8.when fully in service,

  • John: Do you happen to have a pic of a builders plate

from any of the M's? I won one at auction, in great shape

and it should be local, but you never know where the seller

gets things? Thx, Rich - Phila Pa

  • Metro-North ran M1's into 2009 actually, not 2007. They were used for the very beginning of Yankees-153rd shuttle service.

  • the m1 -m6 all look the same to me.. whats the difference??

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Do u notice dat the M3s have a lot of R44/R46 subway blood in them..

  • @MADSEEN2009 Yes! I am glad that I am not the only one to notice that! The walls in the trains, as well as the exteriors have very similar features.

  • @MADSEEN2009 Yes they do. The M7 has a lot of R142 blood in it also.

  • @MADSEEN2009 Yeah I also notice that. The interior, extior, and the M3s are only 10 ft larger than the R44,R46.

  • Well done brother!

  • Not meaning to nitpick, just pointing the following out - hope you can see it as a constructive comment!

The M1 should not say 1968-2007, as they are still in service in 2009.

    3rd photo is an M3 not M1.

M3 began production in 1981, delivery in very late 1982 entered service in 1983.

M7s began regular service in 2001-2.

  • no the m7's did not begin regular service in 2001-2. they began in 2002 on the LIRR. They began on the metronorth in 2004

  • Nice video. 5*.

  • Cool video! I think the M7 and M8 are my two favorite.

  • Is there an M5?

  • Nope.

  • No. there is not.

  • The M5s were designed but never built.

  • Awesome tribute. I can't wait for the M8 to come out. It looks really sweet.

  • Great video!
