From The fire 601. You are not going to beleive it but I als have a twin sister to this bike. Black 2006 RSTD w/Hoppe faring. Harley rear trunk, wish I could put my pics on here. I have had more than one Harley Salesman from a distance ask what modle HARLEY it is !!! It has been a ton of fun.
That is one damn fine motorcycle, congrats on your hard work. She's a real beauty! The thing about these bikes is they have one of the best warrantys in the business. 5 years!
Now both front and rear detach using origional hardware. I had the same thought as everyone else probably has.....the best of both worlds, on off on off. Sounds good but now that I've got it on I think I've taken if off once in nearly two years. And with everything that I've done I could have purchased the Venture. But It would'nt be this. I gotta say it's fun when people ask me what it is. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks for the post. David
Thanks for looking. Both the front and rear are still detachable. I used the origional hardware as a basis. The front uses the detachable gear modified with pieces of steel I bent, angled and drilled and painted for fitting with new fairing. For the rear I purchased a second hand origional complete RSTD backrest off ebay and then cut it right above the attaching hardware and fitted a HD ultra tour pak and HD tour pak mounting hardware to the origional RSTD hardware.
Bike looks good. Would like to know if the tour pack is detachable or not. I have an 06 rstd and thought about adding some more carry space, but didn't want to have it on all the time. I would like to know about your upper faring also.
Bike looks good. Was wanting to know if your tour pack was detachable or not. I have an 06 rstd and thought about putting one on mine, but only at certain times. Would like to know about your upper faring also.
Hey I was wanting to know if the tour pack that you have is detachable or not. I have an 06 rstd and would like to put one on my bike, but not all the time. Thanks
The tour pack that you have is an HD, but is it detachable or not. I have an 06 and would like to get something that I could take off and on, all depending on if I have a riding on the back or not.
@hissingfetus Hmm, not for sure but the royal star stock is about 875 and with my add ons it must weigh over 1000lbs. Thanks for the comment and feel free to ask any questions.
I purchased a new HD Ultra tour pak. I had searched for used ones but finally just bought a new one. Very expensive piece. Then I put the Star rack on top and had a Star emblem made for the back. Thanks for the question, and good luck on yours. Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate the positive feedback. Some asked why I didn't just go out and by the harley ultra, I just wanted to have my own bike. Not just one like everyone elses.
Beautiful job with the RSTD; I'm partial to the color scheme too!
What make is the fairing? I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but don't really care if it's still quick release or not...yours will still be a one of a kind!
Anyway, great job, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Hey Joker, the fairing is a Radio Caddy. Google it and you will find company's that sell it. There may be brackets available for it but I never found them for the RSTD so my me and a buddy made a set for my bike. Our goal was to keep the quick release in place and usable. Anyway, any more questions just ask. Thanks for the compliment ( it has been alot of time and work). David
Hey, so sorry about the response time. Just hadn't kept up with youtube lately. Anyway, the quick release is all still in place for and aft. Alot of time and money though. I had to do alot of searching but no luck so it had to be done from scratch. I'd never seen one before and to my knowledge it's one of a kind. I've seen one with a front fairing and I've seen one with a trunk but it wasn't quick release. But never with both and all removable.

@luvmyturbo Looks fabulous. Which fairing did you use? Looks better than the Yamaha fairing on Ventures. Thanks.

What kind of tour pack do you have on the back? I have a 2006 and would love to have the back trunk/rear seat.

Very nice! I've been kicking around the idea myself for a fairing. It looks really nice on the RSTD.

Fabulous ride!
Tell me-did you need to do modification to get the Vance and Hines Slipons to work? What model of slipon are they?
Looks good...maybe you can post a clip of it idling sometime
Thanks.

The vance and hines pipes are for a road king. I used a modified bracket to attach them to the bike. Sorry about the wait in the response. David

I have a 2007 tour deluxe and am interested in how you modified the bike to resemble the venture. did you keep the quick release feature for and aft?
