Was that bee stuck in there from the morning? Moon flowers are great, I have been trying to grow them this summer but with no luck...I know they are a tropical plant and I am here in temperate England where we have had a rainy August with temps sitting at 70f. Where abouts are you?
No, I watched the bee tunnel in-it was near dusk when the flowers were getting ready to open. That's when I went in and grabbed the camera. The flowers open rather rapidly. I'm always amazed and delighted to see them open.
The fragrance is very strong and perfume like. The bees can't resist it!
I'm in a temperate zone myself, in SW Pennsylvania. My gardening zone is 5.
They grow vigorously here...as long as they have some sun/water.
