  • Great to hear and see Kim again. He was my cousin and great friend who never got the reconition he should have. Admittedly some of his own doing with the drug thing but bad management did`nt help. I had some other stuff on tape but I gave it to his mum when he died. She has since passed away so not sure of there whereabouts now.

I still have a "white" copy of Ravenna on vinyl which he gave to me, I miss him.

  • I've put a couple of things up on my site ...thanx for reminding me of this talented artist

  • Lovely more please!

  • Saw this LP listed on Gemm, might buy it. Great vocal

  • @Jimkellyfro

I spent many months seeing Kim playing live in pubs and clubs.

    An amazeing talent.

Years later while running my own pub in the UK, Kim turned up for a 'jam nite'

As soon as I heard the voice!!!!!!!!!!

This skinny bald guy couldn't be Kim?

    But sure enough.

I have some great stuff to relate.

    He is very much missed.

    Paul

  • @ptf1950 He is indeed. I've been trying to dig up his material for a while now!

Anybody got anything else to share?

I'm dying to hear 'Prospect Road' again.

I did sound for Kim a couple of times in the late 80's.

    His performances still haunt me!

  • @osummuso

I'm trying to get the Ravenna album (Rialto) onto disc and stick so that I can log it on.

The whole album is brilliant. Kim co produced with Brian Young.

Kim could be a pain in the rear, but there was no doubting his commitment to his music.

Most tracks were written by Kim.

Will Smith has a particular like of 'OOH Child' (written by Stan Vincent), it features in a couple of his films.

Kim's delivery is 'understated class'. Will Smith would be impressed.

    I'll add more soon.P

  • @ptf1950 Any links for OOH Child?

I did speak to Brian Young and he said he'd been meaning to master off some unreleased material by Kim.

that would be a few years back now.

  • his voice for Curious Feeling is part of my college years back in early 80's...even now the album is one of my favourite...great singer!

  • thankyou for posting this!, brings back wonderful memories.

i used to listen to kims voice in awe, such beautiful tones.

    he inspired me to write.

, and i am so sorry to hear that he passed away.

why do all the greats go first?

  • Lovely to hear Kim again - what a voice

  • Ive been a Genesis fan for years and totally love Kim's voice on A Curious Feeling..If Steve Hackett had been involved playing some tasty nylon string and his usual lead it would have been a bit more varied musically but as it is, is still a great album..i love this song too..so soulful..time radio 2 ditched a few songs they play all the time and started to play this...more album tracks from radio 2 please!!!

  • I'm so so so glad you posted this.

I've been trying to track down material of Kim's for years.

Would you by any chance have a copy of a song he did called 'Prospect Road'?

I did have an exchange with Brian Young at Cava, who'd been thinking about compiling some of Kim's stuff.

Kim was an amazing live performer.

  • Its amazing to find this from Kim, my cousin who sadly passed away several years ago, (amongst other things) i assume means his battle against drugs and alcohol,

i spent some quality time with him in his last weeks in gillingham, kent. Great times x

  • Good Post!

It's great to see a track from Kim on YouTube. The Ravenna album was a fine set but I seem to have lost my copy.I worked with Kim in the 1980s and I can confirm that he was a very fine singer indeed, even after he suffered a collapsed lung (amongst other things).

Incidentally, contrary to the caption on the photograph, Ravenna was not recorded in England. It was made in Brian Young's Ca Va studios in Glasgow, Scotland.

    Good times.

  • @HenryClarson I also worked with him in the 80s with Pete Downes and Robin Clayton. We record the backing track for some great demos in Wandsworth. Sadly his habit meant they never got finished and I never saw him again. I had known him back in Glasgow as well. I am very sad to hear of his death. Can anyone tell me when that was?

  • I really like this. I only knew of him from the album he sang for Tony Banks and didn't think much of his voice but it suits this sort of music far better.
