I still have tears form thinking of him leaving us the way he did. What a amazing human being, absolute professional who kept racing alive, that made it interesting, who we all loved and loved to hate all at the same time. But no matter what if your a driver you wanted to know where that black #3 was cause if he was gaining on you your veins turned ice cold cause you know he was creepin on you! We miss you dale, racing misses you! But i believe racing wouldn't be what it is today without you!
So hard to watch this, there isn't a race that I watch that I don't think, "where would Dale be?" Where would NASCAR be if he were still here? Hard to comprehend.
Damn I miss this man! I watched Dale my whole life I was an Earnhardt fan before I could walk. He was alot of peoples hero including me. Lots of awesome memories. There will never be another one like him.
@boneheadfourtythree hey hey hey. dont disrespect Dale. I am a HUGE Bobby fan and I watch him every race, but I think that Dale was a bit (just a bit) better than Bobby.
damn nascar and life without seeing dale earnhardt win a race is still rough i remember when i heard he passed on that night in walmart i went through 5 hydrocodones that night and i called out of work just to watch him on tv the hole day i didnt sleep that night i can remember me my dad my mom my sister and my cusin all staying up all night watching the news
I miss the days with #3 out there it was alot more exciting back then today for example jeff gordon was running johnson hard as hell at texas and jimmie was bitching about it well Jeff was pretty kind to you considering dale sr would probably of wrecked you.
thats right, on februray 15th 2001 nascar fell apart , dale earnhardt was nascar, i cried for days after that wreck and he is the best race car driver god has put on this earth some say he was dirty and wrecked people, but thats racin, he did it so why cant everyone else thats why he is the best.forever the man.
"looking forward to Daytona".... if he only knew what was to be.... NASCAR hasn't been the same since Dale died, and now it's just complete garbage IMO
Dale is the reason I became a fan 15 years ago and still remain a fan. Not a day goes by that I still wish he was still here, still kicking butt and showing some of the young drivers a thing or two about racing. Just watching this speech makes me smile just thinking about him and all of the good times that had gone on then. 3 Forever!!
I think thats going a bit far. If it werent for the other 42 drivers out there racing against him then we wouldnt have had the shows of excellence that we did. Granted, NASCAR without a doubt lost something huge when Dale passed, but it wasnt the death of the sport.
Racing died when nascar wanted to be over protective of the drivers, the old car and hans device as well as safer barriers were just fine. But nooooo! We have to have a safer car that makes the racing terrible.
@2010volsbaby im guessing you weren't around when Dale died. how can say that nascar shouldn't be safe. if you remember when he passed, you should think that nascar needs to do everything they can to make cars safe. racing will be no good if the cars aren't safe and a driver dies every time there's a crash.
no cause back then it was safe enough. dale sr did not wear his hans device and if he did he would be here. nascar before dale sr death WAS already safe.
@gordon24champ i do like your name since i am a gordon fan as well but i would rather had racing then have no racing because the cars arent safe enough to race and see guys dying cause dale sr had a car as safe as they are now im sure he would still be here today racing
@gordon24champ I think the old car could've taken the same safety enhancements the new car has. There was more to the move than just protecting the drivers, because, let's face it: we want all the protection we can get in this world.
Hell, there have been hits HARDER than Earnhardt had since, and the speeds are now back to where the old car was. We just have this fast box with no passing aero now. Successfully made five of the most fun races each year into Dancing with the Cars
@gordon24champ Yeah i think that if they just used the hans device and moved the seat closer to the center in the old car it would have been fine, instead they built a truck with a wing. Guess Brian France never noticed that all the races in the early 2000's were super competitive. Its like Dale said one time, "Mr. Bill France Sr. would prolly roll over in his grave if he seen that deal"
indeed martin is back since his jack roush days, and it's nice to see ol timers like martin back in the competitive state like he use to be back in the 90s. I even remember when "Mr. October" Harry Gant won $ races in a row, at a young age of 51 (i think) in the 90s...i miss those good ol times.....Miss Dale too
Damn, I miss ya Dale... NASCAR, RCR, DEI & Dale Jr have not been the same without you and the "Black #3" buddy. Thankx for the 7 "Winston Cup" Championships and the great memories. Keep passin' 'em in the grass, cause rubbin is racin'...
Dale Earnhardt Is The Reason I Started Watching NASCAR. No Matter If Dale Jr Wins Or Looses, I'm Always Gonna Be An Earnhardt Fan & Supporter.... I'm Just Not A Teresa Earnhardt Fan And Supporter.
2000 was a awesome year for Dale Earnhardt! I told everyone, you can never be too old to race and good ol' Dale proved everyone that he was as competitive racing in his 40s as if he was racing in his 20s...he never lost his edge! He just had setbacks from 96 and 97 in those talladega accidents....2000 marked not only classic victories but also many memorable moments! There will never be another Dale Earnhardt, and to me he wasn't just "The Man", or "The Intimidator"...he was "The Best!"
wow, what a year. Last banquet. Kenseth and Jr's first year, and DW's last year. That's hard to believe all that happend in one year. It's like it was yesterday but almost ten years ago. Amazing.
I KNOW, because I went 2 Daytona 3 times with this weekend which is 4, I always looks at turn 4 where the fatal crash happened and I imagened it so many times that I sometimes start 2 cry.:'(
May Dale Earnhardt rest in peace he will always be in our hearts.

What a class act,,, great race car driver, but even a
better human being... Painfully,,, I still missed him
today...
There is not a NASCAR Race, that I don't think of
Dale Sr... He was a great race car driver, but that
alone, is only a part of the Dale Earnhardt Story...
Great man, a great American Hero, and we today,
surly could use a few American Hero's, like Dale
Big...

Hard to believe this is the last time Earnhardt would be at the NASCAR Banquet in New York.
Dale Earnhardt was the best damn driver to get behind the wheel of a stock car!
His driving style, way of living, his personality, and humor are what set him apart from all other drivers we've had.
He had a "never back down" and a "no holds barred" personality.
He drove like no one ever had and no one ever will.
I was only 7 when he died, but he will always be to me and the NASCAR World, the best.
