Its very much like 1984 'who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past'
The book ozonomics, gives plenty more examples of this, Howard's debt truck that mysteriously disappeared after he won the election etc, it even shows a graph of opinion polls, who do you think manages the economy better? which is interesting to look at
Any of you silly bastards who like to bag out trade unions and tout them as being detrimental, anti business, industrial disputes and far reachinbg strikes, think of this. Hand back your paid leave, wage increases, paid sick leave, workers compensation and OH&S representation and go it alone, if you dont believe unions are good then you should have non of the benefits for which they fight for

Was there any mention of the $80 BILLION deficit accumulated over 6 budgets under Paul Keating? It makes $9 billion seem like a good result!
God help us all if Labor gets back into power. Australia hit the 21st century full of running. Under 'Rudd the dud' we'll go backwards 20 years to a union dominated state, massive industrial disputes, strikes, unemployment, increased taxes and huge debt.
You mean the money paid out in welfare benefits and health care for the people who had systematically been bled white from the years of liberal inaction?? Australia hit the 21st century running because keating and hawks reforms, howard hasn't done a fucking thing except raise taxes. Even then this wasn't a genuine idea, hes been running john hewson 1993 election agenda since he got into office
Rudd seems to have followed Beazleys method of how to lose an election... backflips on his policies bc they discover theyre unaffordable which show that Labor is incapable of budgeting comptetently.
I dont think its howard who is the economic genius... i think youll be looking at costello there. Costello would have been Pm by now had he not been such a good treasurer.
costello wasn't the genius, Alan greenspan the former US reserve treasurey chairman only last month produced a biography which states, the aussie economy is the fastest growning economy in the western world due to the harsh economic reforms under the hawk/keating governments.
And we should all believe him?? what did he have to say about the American economy?
The Liberals reforms have continued to build upon the Hawke/Keating era, without the Liberals continued reforms the Australian economy would still be mediocre.
Typical Labor supporter, unable to give credit where it is due!
The Liberals tax reform has been a driving catalyst for the Australian economies continued growth. Not to mention the fact that they have paid the 90+ billion dollar foreign debt that Labor left behind.... now there are no interest payments left from the "fantastic Labor" era.
Liberals will win the election bc Rudds charade wont last. The bogan vote wont win Rudd this election nor the next, Costello will wipe the slate with him in 2011....if Rudd survives as oppostion leader.
What a great strategy, tax your population harder and remove funding from health and education so you can say the surplus is bigger? Yep, good idea..The Labour debt was due to supporting a poopulation through welfare benefits as your beloved liberals were too busy lining the pockets of high income earners and big business to look after the little man and his family.
But9/11 as an inside job. Not only that - but they fucking blew up those buildins in front of you and ytou da nada? FUCK YOU! By the way, that fag ass Hawke is MY dad - but I never got to call him that face.
LOL it's always funny when Howard portrays himself as an economic superman, who saved Australia from 'free-spending' Labor governments. LOL and how he takes credit for the growth of the economy, despite the fact that it was Hawke/Keating economic changes like the floating of the dollar and the removal of government economic control which made economic growth possible. Howard got lucky, with the economy experiencing the best growth in 50 years. Now all he does is scream 'strong economy'.
And just what happened when Hawk took power... the deficit increased well beyoned the rate of inflations. So much for that argument. Also, where were interest rates under Labour in the 90's? 17%. Oops.
Yeah, 21.4% under your mate Johnny Howard. And it's hawke with an `e', Labor with no `u'. Learn to spell.
And - I'd rather have 17% interest to buy a house for $240,000, than under howard where I have 8.35% interst and the same bloody house costs me $650,000.
Bob Hawk held the world record for downing a yard glass of beer.!!!!!!!!!!
No other world leader could come close to such a feat. not even Yeltsin.
There will never be a greater Prime minister than he.
A trully great Australian.

name one "reform" lazy did on the economy
and no that does not include GST
qin02 4 years ago 2
howard was accreditated with only sustaining the development.
this all lead to keating's speech other night and labeled the costello as "sitting on the hammick" and is the "laziest treasurer in the post war era"
