  • @nuclealosaur Im sorry if somebody already asked but whats the song? Absolutley amazing painting by the way!

  • put your pants on!!!!

  • Would glazing work instead airbrush?

  • Sweet man, how do you clean you airbrush, you had reds, yellows and oranges for the base, and then you went to hawk turquise colours, what do you do to clean it ?

  • Amazing! You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing your secrets :DD

  • Just 1 question How did u start of with a shiny basecoat and then end up getting a matt finish Was that the oils or somthin or the black shading. It would help a lot if u cud tolu plzzzz and ur glow effects r awsome

  • Very cool! How to you get Gw paint in your airbrush without wasting too much of it? Paints that come with drip caps are great, but Citadel paints seem hard to airbrush with. thanks!

  • @drumwolf22 Not sure about nuclealosaur but I use medical syringes. I can get them for 10c each at the chemist (drug store?) so I can have one for each colour and I can add very accurately measured amounts. Great for consistency in thinning and mixing. I mix Citadel paints at 2 paint to 1 water and they spray well but the ratios vary from colour to colour and will depend a lot on your climate too. BTW I am not even fit to clean Nuke's brushes as a painter but I have found out a few things.

  • Hi, I tried to google the Albeitlung you are using in the video without result, what is it? (and can I buy it online?: )

  • @superKimo79 Try googling "ABTEILUNG" it is a brand of very high quality Oil Based paints, similar to Windsor and Newton. Also called Artists' oils sometimes. These paints have very strong colours, are thinned with turps or white spirit and are excellent for washes etc. Take forever to dry tho' so like most things with mini's patience is the key!

  • and is the basecoat just the bare plastic?

  • how much time does it take you to paint one?

  • I love the glow effects on those miniatures. Quick question

Do you spray paint in a vented area?

Also how can you make glow effects without a spray as I cant have one in the college dorms in the US. I try dry brushing, but it can be a bit difficult.

Do you do commissions to the US?

    Thanks

  • Thank you for the amazing tutorial, though the oil paints; Do you add all the colours together (Blue, black, red etc) and add all the oil paints to the whole model?

  • Dude are you thai :D

  • @Coolaidman96 Yes - you are correct!

  • @nuclealosaur OMG ME TOO :D

  • Hello there, you are trully amazing.Could you please do a video on how to air brush a ruined terrain model.I know this is a big request but im desperate to know how to acheive a brilliant finish.Ive asked other sites for help but they never get back to me and my terrain is starting to look very dated and boring. Please please do this for me. Thankyou.

  • @rastan1977 That's a brilliant idea! I'm moving to Thailand next year and will have to create a new table and paint more terrains - so until then, keep in touch!

  • @40kPainting100 Basecoat for golden parts. I find mixing gold+brown making it easier to apply.

  • are you using a helmet cam?!

  • What size needle do you use in your airbrush?

  • @sjmheron 0.2mm

  • Just woundering how long did it take you to paint that one terminator?

  • Hi! great job! anche thanks for sharing! ;)

I didn't understud WHY and WHEN you use Satin Vanish.. can you explain?

then, I tryed to do the same but the wash make some spots in the model.. your model is very clean!! do you clean it with turpentine?

    tnx! ;)

  • @M4Rm1n0 I use satin varnish to protect the acrylic paint layers (what you've done so far) from getting stripped by turpentine. You can apply a layer right before you think it's ready to be washed with oil.

To avoid having oil pigments lying around on the surface, you can use your wash brush to drag the paint into crevices. If you still think it's too dirty then you can load a large brush lightly with turp and gently wipe paint away in that specific area. be careful, if ur vanish isn't thick

  • @M4Rm1n0 if your vanish isn't thick enough and you brush the surface around too hard, the previous layers will start to peel (you won't like it!) so make sure you varnished the surface nicely (or do it twice to make sure it covers every bits)

  • Would love to see a still photo of this model after completion. Great job.

  • @SoulDrinkerChaplain check out my facebook, still photos are all in my gallery... for now. My site is still underconstruction

  • You are my new God. Staggering painting! :)

  • @ShredReviews Gee man, that's really flattering. I still have a lot of room for improvement and I try to improve myself all the time (and have fun doing it) Thanks for your kind words!

  • @nuclealosaur

You're one of those guys that gets great results and makes it look all too easy - if you think you can improve I'm sure we'll all be suitably blown away by figures to come - keep it up! :)

  • Ohh ok thanks. I just started using an airbrush and just used water to thin the paints. Im guessing that the paint thinner you use is better though? Also if it wouldnt take too much time could you check out our grey knights commission we did? I love your style of painting by the way, very crisp and clean

  • @DoulcBros I find water 'alright' when there's no other alternatives - it can get too soggy and splash around because it's too liquidy if you know what I mean.

  • Awesome job!! I was just wondering what kind of paint thinner you use

  • @DoulcBros Thanks man - I use Vallejo Air thinner. Very good consistency and IMHO very reliable

  • This is beast! btw whats the name of the song, by who? in fact, just gimma all songs you use in all vids when you're free haha love the music you use.

  • @IMEKMYMUSIC Thanks! Search Infected Mushroom - they're really good

  • outstanding work!

  • @harveydogtennant Thank you!

  • Great tutorial and there are some great pieces of work (I'm going through your vids).

I just have one suggestion, could you keep the paint colour captions on screen a bit longer, or do a list in the notes section please. They go by so fast!

  • @shepharda74 especially when trying to watch too!! :-)

  • @shepharda74 I reckon... maybe next time I'll make a list of colors at the end of the video what do you think?

  • @nuclealosaur Great idea, thanks! :-) It's much appreciated!

  • @shepharda74 Hey man - sure thing I'll add it in the notes section for you :)

  • @shepharda74 No problem - will add color list either in the detail section or leave it for longer in the next video. Cheers!

  • Wow this is outta control different! :D So cool!

  • @asjarra Thanks a lot man!

  • Gotta get one of them airbrushes.

  • @Zeredek for sure! let me know which one you've got and share the result too.

  • nice mate.... :-)

  • @benthai98 ขอบคุณครับ mate!

  • @SkartoothStudios I don't really bother masking on figures, instead you can avoid overspray by tilting the model to a certain angle and spray / or use your finger to block the spray from certain parts. I tend to tolerate overspray if the colors aren't too opposite. Of course you can use liquid mask to isolate some small areas, but sometime it's not really worth the effort - easier to paint with a brush if it's really that small and you don't want any overspray IMHO

  • That is very cool.

  • @angusmcnicholl Thank you!

  • Awesome vid. Definitely going to try this for my next army. Starting with some test models first though, for sure.

  • @ZeeLobby Hey man, thanks. Let me know how it goes with your ones. Post a video!

  • Awesome Vid!! Great results :)

  • And thanks you all for your kind comments! Got more work coming so stay tuned!

  • Could this ever be achieved with just brushes?

  • @Rockingdude1990 Hmmm good question! I'm more of an airbrush guy so the idea of having to paint this with a brush gives me a fear-shiver (which seriously lasted for like a minute) I think you could, but will surely take a long time to finish more than one model!

  • @nuclealosaur Okay thanks, well test it on old minis until the grey knights it self! Thanks for the brilliant tutorial

  • Yey! Thanks mate! :)

  • Brilliant method of painting, it really gives your miniatures a unique style. I may have to have ago using my airbrush this way on some of my Grey Knights. I even have the oils as well so it would be interesting to use them on a miniature rather than scale models. Keep up the good work ;)

  • Awesome! Thank you.

I was wondering how you still have some item color after going over it with the glow color. Now I see that the oil based washes over the glow color do that.

I just got a copy of Space Hulk and would love to paint them up in a similar style. But I need more painting experience first.

Now I really want an airbrush.

  • Nice work with the air bursh and great results on the base, as well...your client for the commision should be well pleased with the look of the Grey Knights...well done...Jim.

  • Wow, looks really cool, nice work!
