  • Going to see them in show soon, i'm gonna be pissed if they don't play their old songs.

  • 1:40 Fucking great shit that causes me chills.

  • wow, I think a lot of people are put off by In Flame's newer stuff because that is what youtube first suggests. Can anyone tell me some older songs by them I should know about?

  • @Biake22

Lunar strain is good album but very raw.

Also I recommend you to listen some songs from subterranean

It has some old version song

Ceremonial Oath(Jesper old side project ) Album Carpet

Anders Friden/ Tomas Lindberg vocals were incredebly good that time

    P.S sorry about bad language

  • @symbolicjohnson7 but these are, imho, quite rough and very close to death metal. call me a betrayer, but i love the "soundtrack to your escape" as well, because there are many cool memories and things connected to this glorious time. i remember dressing up in white and going to a metal club nearby to celebrate the release :D shit was so cash

  • @volvoxmusix

Wasnt going to call you something like that

I also like some of their new style songs . Especially from rerout to remain.

But their old stuff is diffrent you know

  • @volvoxmusix If you actually look at the music, beyond the aesthetic "harsh" vocals, there's really not a whole lot that's similar to Death Metal going on here. Doesnt make it bad, it just isnt Death Metal.

  • Hypnos Morpheus Father

  • Subdividing genres helps people know what and what not to listen to.

I like Doom metal but only Death/Doom metal. I can't stand original Doom metal, the heavy metal like stuff i.e Candlemass whereas I love Rapture.

So there you go...labels and terms for the win!

  • thumbs up if this is their all time BEST album

  • @theimmortaldave92 i fucking AGREE!!!!! this isnt just my favorite in flames album, but this is one of my favorite albums of ALL TIME!!!!!!

  • 1:40 <3

  • Hypnos means sleep in greek :P

  • The song about ancient God am I right?

  • 2:18 awesome!

  • I am going to see In Flames in 6 hours...

  • shit quality, gonna upload a lossless version

  • LORD HYPNOS!!!!

  • @o6one9o it would :D

  • @o6one9o too bad they sold out and make shit music now. Their old music was epic.

  • Am I the only one who think @3:10 sounds like something from Starcraft 1?

  • Apples and metal have one thing in common: the core sucks.

  • @WiggyWarriorI Heard that joke 120,000 too many times, buddy. Thumbs down. :P

  • @videogamerselite270 I didn't do it for likes or whatever, I thought it was pretty gnarly so I said it. Metalheads aren't like mainstream fags, we don't care what anyone thinks.

  • @WiggyWarriorI Lmaooo okay i gotcha.

  • Fuck "evolving" and making watered down pop cock rock like their latest albums. I'll take a Jester Race Pt.2 any day over that.

  • @Bryso69 haha great comment, i would too. Even though people say you'd get bored of the same stuff, 6 years i'v had this album and i dont think i will ever get sick of hearing the riffs like these.

  • 1:30 - 3:00 the most beautiful melodies i've ever heard in my life. IN FLAMES I TRUST!

  • @filth69ify1 +10000000000000 this is fucking !!!!! IN FLAMES WE FUCKING TRUST FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the best moldies of in flames

  • @sugessad Well said....they're known for a reason. Obviously a preference, but I feel Kalmah/insomnium are way under promoted. Long live metal regardless, it is an honor to be even talking to like minded music lovers =)

  • fucking great album! hypnos is greek for sleep btw

  • @SkywalkerGFZ swstos o filos! \m/

  • @o6one9o I wonder what their June 2011 album will sound like...

  • @MEGAxxxDETH666 heard the new single, it was garbage

  • @Hyperdeficit meh it's alright. I don't really listen to In Flames anymore...I'm more into August Burns Red & Parkway Drive ;p

  • take Jesus and shove im up your ass!!!

  • u can see the Carcass influence. i love it.

  • I like this song and the acoustic medly is briliant Inflames I like the guitars and music the vocals I could do without .Don't care for then just my own opinion and I've been into metal since the 1970's when I was a kid.Yes I also listen to CSNY,The Beatles,Led Zeppelin,The Doors,The Who,Neil Young,Eric Clapton ect.differnt shit anything but rap and country

  • Metal...

  • @o6one9o . . . and whoracle! lol /AGREEED

  • @o6one9o I don't know about that I like that in flames is allways changing. But those are two epic albums that is among my favorites =)

  • @kungsmurfen Evolution is great. I agree with you completely about that, however, In Flames is taking the easy way out. They stopped making music like this because it's harder to play live. Jesper left the band because of the differences in what kind of music the band wants to play.

Jesper did all of the guitar work on the albums, it's hard to play live and they want music they can play live.

Andres is awesome and a cool guy (met him once) but, he doesn't want to play Real (ATG) MDM anymore

  • @MroAeon Didnt Jesper leave the band because he wanted to get rid of his alcoholic problems? And yes maybee they are taking the easy way out but now they are one of the best bands live i've ever heard xD

  • This entire album is amazing. Classic metal album.

  • metalcore faggot are just ripping off riffs of such bands like In Flames and At the gates and putting shitty vocals on them without solos...Melodeath bands kick ass but this metalcore crap sounds just like a ripped off shitty melodeath...

  • @DragonforceOff In general I don't listen to metalcore. I find it boring and generic. There are, however, a good few bands out there who I do like, who make great music, such as Parkway Drive. In Flames laid down the foundation for the metalcore genre, and all these metalcore kids should reailse their music would not exist without In Flames.

  • old In Flames and At the Gates + amazing

  • @o6one9o The jester race and colony don't sound the same at all. After relasing whoracle , they tweeked their sound. The closest thing to jester race would be Whoracle.

  • @o6one9o They'll never sound like this again :'(

  • @o6one9o Whoracle !!! the best

  • For you people commenting below me, In Flames is NOT metalcore. Do you hear any breakdowns? Even in the newer stuff there is no breakdowns. Just thought I clear this up a bit. Metalcore = Metal influence + Hardcore punk influence. I don't think In Flames has a hardcore punk influence in their music.

  • @MritsHunter Lololol do you realise that breakdowns are just common in metalcore, not neccesary? And just because a band doesn't have breakdowns doesn't mean they're not metalcore.

I lol@you. Anywhoo, breakdowns or not I think we can all agree 99% of it sucks.

  • Every song on this album is amazing

  • once i met 2 swedish dudes that told they where in the same 3 grade classroom that some guys of inflames XD

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Period.

  • @o6one9o good call (y)

  • <3 inflames so much

i wish i woulda known of them sooner, altho i been listenin for 9 years so far :D

  • 5 people are homosexuals.

  • old in flames is way better than the new shit

  • Pure fucking undeniable genius

Thumbs up if u fucking love in flames.

    In Flames We Trust

    Milky Way Galaxy

  • @cool4033 u mean In Flames We trust, THE WHOLE FUCKING UNIVERSE LOL

  • 1.30 - 3.00 so fucking amazingly good it gives me chills

  • Its like the end of the song explains it...

  • I just have no words! Impecable!

  • e l'arbitro manda tutti a bere un thè caldo|| ..and the referee sends everybody to the "chioschetto"

  • @o6one9o YES YES YES!!!! I AGREE!

  • Music of Gods

  • this is almost as good as the new sum 41 album!

  • I lie in your soothing arms, Lord Hypnos !

Can any band say it better ?

  • IN FLAMES is my DRUG !!

  • I don't know about you guys, I don't have the urge of aguing, but I feel like enjoying this masterpiece :D

  • @Warmachineu I still think the stuff they put out today is good, but you're right, post-Clayman material isn't quite the same.

  • this is a badass in flames song/album. how the fuck does an argument start about american vehicles?

  • @pinkygod The whispered lyrics in the place you indicated are a quote from William Wordsworth's Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Reflections on Early Childhood. It goes as follows:

"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:

The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,

    Hath had elsewhere its setting,

    And cometh from afar:"

  • #1 Band i don't give a flyin @#$% every other band comes 2ed.

  • to think they made this in 1996 haha that's fucking crazy. such a talented band.

  • i like the first four in flames albums, they deserve the "death" in melodic death, but after colony they became too melodic and every song sounds like the other

  • @6The6Deathbanger6 They sound very different. Each song has it;s own uniqueness to it, and every album has it's own sound as well.

  • besides from the singing how can people think bands like in flames suck, and then go off listening to some fitty cent. just bewilders me with some people.

  • 2:44 - 3:00

  • your right bud nice post, 100% behind you on that there the best band out there.

  • What the hell do the lyrics say around the 2:18 mark? I've listened to it a million times but I still can't make it out.

  • I like this album because lyrics are as goog as music itself :

"tune the strings of truth-full longing, to the frozen music of gods" .. then out of this world solo ...

fits music perfectly, this is why i love old in flames

  • @npopovic1 Thank god there are people who can see why older in flames albums were better... so melodic and powerful in the same time and the awesome lyrics!

  • I pay attention to the lyrics of the music I listen to, which means there's a lot of metal I won't listen to because of the lyrics (and a lot of them are also musically blah anyway). But In Flames' lyrics are poetry, more meaningful than a lot of metal lyrics I've read. I'm glad of this because their music is also far better than anything else I've heard referred to as any kind of death metal.

  • @rsman169 lol

  • Whole the jester race is fuckin best melodic death metal album ever.

  • This is cool stuff, glad I took the time to look into their older stuff because later albums don't do it for me.

  • jesus, what a fuckin growl he had back then....i had forgotten his vocals..... and why dont they do this anymore?

  • They became more mainstream, arguably starting from Reroute To Remain. There's not much room for death growls in the current era.

It's all about pre-pubescent boys singing about love. (Think: Justin Bieber)

  • Dude new IF doesn't even sing about love and they're way beyond prepubescent. What are you talking about?

  • @19wayfarer19 He still have the powerful growls, the problem is that he never uses it

  • old in flames 4 ever! \m/

  • see you in W A C K E N

  • The Jester Race,The Gallery, and Slaughter Of The Soul are the best MELoDeath albums EVER!!!!

  • Don't forget Heartwork (Carcass).

  • Ya that one is good too...i also really like Soilwork's first 2 albums....Children Of Bodom's follow The Reaper and Arch Enemy's Wages Of Sin are also some of my faves...

  • It's a matter of musical taste...but I imagine that those who like The Jester Race would prefer Heartwork to Carcass's early stuff (don't really like grindcore...but I admit their stuff was better than most). But overrated? Heartwork is an amazing composition of melodic death metal.

  • your opinion, mine is different, I actually hate 90% of melodeath because I find it too girly and boring but there a few exceptions like In Flames,At The Gates and Dark Tranquility.

  • I can understand that...but I prefer melo-d because of the aspects you might find "girly"...like its focus on beauty. Although like any self-respecting metalhead I love getting heavy with some misery index, napalm death, and Terrorizer.

  • Im Seeing Misery Index with Decapitated in April :D

  • @GEETARS3 respect!

  • what did I say that you like/agree with?

  • i meant i,i think linkin park is girly and you think that melodeath is girly.if you really think so-respect!

  • @GEETARS3 Could you name all the other Melodic death metal bands you call girly?

  • @i5Alex

    pretty much all melodeath.

  • @GEETARS3 Name the bands...

  • @GEETARS3 I think you have the genres mixed up..you're new to this shit aren't you :/ ..The genre you're thinking of is 'Power Metal' and no not all of it... lol

  • @puremetal89

No I love power metal, your the one who is mixed up.

  • @GEETARS3 It was sarcasm. And I am (as well as the rest of us here) mind-fucked how you can call melodic death metal "girly" but yet you believe power metal to be what? A manly man's metal? Lol....

  • @GEETARS3

you are a poser. do you honestly think goregrind is better than melodeath? goregrind sucks ass and melodeath isn't girly. if you want a girly metal band go listen to bullet for my valentine or escape the fate.

  • @GoodMetalFTW

yes Goregrind is way better then gaylodeath.

  • @GEETARS3

    yup, you're a poser.

  • @GoodMetalFTW

no I think you are, who are you to declare other people posers?

  • @GEETARS3

someone who knows good music and bad music. music talking about raping dead bodies or pissing in somebodies maggot-filled ass isn't good music. music isn't about how repulsive you can be and goregrind lyrics are easier to write than mainstream hip hop and pop lyrics.

  • @GoodMetalFTW

    god damnit your a fag.

  • @GEETARS3

big words from somebody who listens to goregrind.

  • @Ixp00nxM4ny

    thank you :)

  • @GoodMetalFTW

Haha this Goregrind kid. I just #LOL ed about his comments.

  • @GEETARS3

Haha you listen to the most stupid metalgenre ever and you say its better than Melodeath? Haha are you a little kid who just needs attention on YouTube. Haha Goregrind LOL.

  • @ChannelxxAUSTRIAxx01

actually pornocore is the most stupid genre of metal. look up fermented anal nectar by spermswamp...IT'S HILARIOUS!!! but it's still the dumbest genre of metal.

  • @GoodMetalFTW

Haha i also know that. Its just hilarious like "Waking The Cadaver" ROFL.

I just laughed my ass off its definitly stupid but funny lol.

  • @ChannelxxAUSTRIAxx01

lol whatever you listen to Metalcore and Deathcore, I think your taste is in the suck.

  • yup

  • @garryOBJ

Yea! and funny they were all released the same year...

  • Only faggots argue on youtube. Just enjoy the art here people, jesus.

  • what kind of freaking cool band would be named as this:

    IN FLAMES!!!

  • hahahaha. Disturbed better than In Flames, that's the funniest thing I've ever heard. old In Flames, like this, is fucking CLASSIC.

  • Guys I just went onto Zombie inc and there were comments about how disturbed were better than in flames. Find the vid and flame the fuck out of those fags please.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA way ahead of ya :)

  • can anyone please mail me what tuning they use and what are the effects they have for their guitars on this record

  • when they recorded this album noone knew that they were 10 years ahead of their own time.. thats fucking crazy

they deserve what they have now, no band could ever be this good

we've existed for 2000 years or 2 million years, i think In Flames are one of the bands that changed our music, most metal & rock

  • @vincentXXX666 how were they 10 years ahead of their time when they recorded this album? It sounds very much like the music their contemporaries were making at that same time (eg At the Gates, Dark Tranquility), even to some extent what bands overseas were doing. Jester Race is a very typical album of the mid 90's Swedish melodic DM sound. If you wanted to pick an In Flames album that was ahead of it's time Lunar Strain is a better choice due to it's introduction of folk / acoustic elements.

  • In Flames have changed our music forever. They created melodic death metal and are the band that influences people to play this style of music most of the time. In Flames we most definitely trust!

  • but old in flames is WAY better than dark tranquility

  • No not really.

  • I don´t understand you...if you think that DK is better than old in flames is because you like metal for the fucking heavy rhythm and not because of the lyrics and the WHOLE bunch of things that make the sound of the metal song a good masterpiece...there are some DK´s songs that are brilliant, and some that you can say: WTF is this shit??

  • So what if somebody likes DT more get the fuck over it. and actually i like IF more. You just made ma a little ashamed to be a IF fanboy.

  • so why are we arguing?? xD that´s metal spirit...old in flames owns any fucking melodeath band in the world :D, the only problem is the new IF :(

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway Dark Tranquilty has only one good song...Terminus

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway Debatable.

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway

DT is much better than In Flames. The only time they could compare was with this album and Whoracle, but DT is still the god of melodeath.

  • @absol990 Haha, Dark Tranquility sucks compared to some of the better melodeath bands, like Kalmah, Wintersun, Norther, In Flames...

  • @Diffle don't forget Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and Insomnium.... :)

  • @zarucarsha Of course, Amon Amarth was the first melodeath band I ever owned an album of.

  • @Diffle Same here! Actually, I got Arch Enemy's Rise of the Tyrant and AA's With Oden on our Side at the same time, but that's only a technicality :P

  • @Diffle try omnium gatherum on for size. those guys are fuckin amazing. sons thoughts and the perfumed garden are fuckin brilliant songs.

  • @19wayfarer19 Thanks for the recommendation man, I'm liking them. Very melodic.

  • @Diffle OG is my second favorite melodeath band, next to in flames. The newest OG album is a bit different, new vocalist i believe, but the melodies are retained, he just has a different vocal style. Im pretty sure its the same guy from elenium actually, and he can fucking growl, as you may have already seen in OG's Nail. They do instrymentals and shit too, try out song for december, utterly amazing.

  • -2 for stating a fact? wow i was only correcting somebody who said that In Flames created Melodeath i never said anything against In Flames.

  • dark tranquility started the genre...but in flames made it popular because DK´s first songs are a holy shit load of fuck!

  • @vincentXXX666 not to mention the best

  • @vincentXXX666 They definitely DON"T deserve what they have now. NO one fucking knows these guys and it drives me nuts. They have no where near the recognition they deserve. When I say In Flames, metalcore fans should bow down in respect. In Flames is quite possibly the most underrated band in metal history. They were 10 years ahead of their time, but few remember them.

  • @lavaviper63 Underrated is better than being forced into a change because of outside pressures, no?

  • @lavaviper63 Relax. They are a very famous metal band and they were not before their time more than the bands that helped start the genre. They were one of the pioneers along with bands like at the gates and dark tranquility of the "Melodic Death Metal" genre.

  • @Michxxxxx I feel like all three were ahead of their time. But I wasn't going to mention the other two when they didn't seem relevant. And realize that they didn't JUST pioneer a sub-genre. Without Melodic Death Metal there would be no Metalcore or Deathcore. Bands in the early 2000s took Melodeath and mashed it with Hardcore Punk and we got bands like As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage

  • @lavaviper63 Lmao....Most underrated metal band...?No kid.No.There one of the biggest bands in metal ll.

  • @lavaviper63 Few remember them? Yeah, right. Every melodic metalcore band worships these guys and many, many, many, other extreme metal bands cite IF as an influence. Saying that they're underrated or under-appreciated goes without saying, but it's like that for nearly EVERY half-decent metal band that's not completely mainstream.

  • @lavaviper63 I BOW TO NOBODY.

But in flames is great. Most definitely the most underrated metalcore band. I hate to say this but after take this life was put on guitar hero 3, a lot of stupid 13 year olds act like they know who in flames is and it drives me nuts.

  • @Kokomokox You're an idiot,In Flames isn't even Metalcore dumb shit.Maybe some of their newer stuff is,but they're not.And the genre of Metalcore,save 3 or 5 bands,completely sucks.

  • @lavaviper63 Wow,someone has no clue ABSOLUTELY what he's talking about l.

  • @lavaviper63 What the fuck does that mean? They got popular and sold out. What is come clarity? The only reason they were good back in the day was because of the people they stole from dark tranquility.

  • @AngryKhan Meh Dark Tranquility isn't that good. They really annoy me.At The Gates,Garden of Shadows,Insomnium,Mors Principium Est are all superior Melodeath bands.

  • @AngryKhan At The Gates - The Red in the Sky Is Ours, Release date July 27, 1992

Dark Tranquility - Skydancer, Release date, August 30, 1993

Who're the rip offs now? I lol@you Dark Tranquility fans flaming In Flames, who fail to realise that ATG had an album out a year before Dark Tranquility. If anyone ripped off, it was Dark Tranquility AND In Flames.

ATG > In Flames > Dark Tranquility.

  • @GGxBeast i guess you dont know how to read.
