  • Turtle stone?

  • This song always reminds me of a short story by Ray Bradbury called: There will come Soft Rains. It's about an automated house that sits alone waiting for people to come home.

  • Great video!!!!

  • who is the drummer.

  • EYN - I turn to stone when I'm without you , all alone I turn to stone when r you commingling home?

  • 44 hates? Must be Taliban.

  • Never got to see them live...but Holy crap, they are coked up beyond belief...pretty robotic performance, the sheen, and Jeff's shades...them pupils must be saucers. I love their music and would have died to see them perform but a relatively emotionless set (all vids from this show) would have confirmed to me that they were best as a studio act.

  • @sybilnerf You sing the same song in concert night after night for as many years as ELO has, and see if you retain the amount of emotion that was once evident in earlier performances. I don't think they were on drugs during this concert. I think they might be tired of singing this song.

  • One Of The All Time Greateset Bands To Grace Our Planet, with surely one of the best song writers the great Geoff Lynne

  • They are FABULOUS live! Amazing performance.

  • man this song brings back a lot of good memories, what a great tune

  • Rosie Vella looks hot

  • f*ing great sh*t right here! thats all i can say ;)

  • Jeff Lynne is king !!

  • Haven't heard this in so long.

It's really a very good song!!

    Thanks :)

  • it was great he became involved in the travelling wilburys too

  • the redhead is redhott

  • I would love to know how many top twenty hits Jeff Lynne has been involved in (writer, performer, producer) during his looooooong career.

  • @JohnnyCxviii im pretty sure he has the most top 40 hits of anyone at about 27... not sure about the top 20.

  • @conservatory ELO holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits of any band in US chart history without ever having a number one single. The Artists With the Most U.S. Top 40 Singles Elvis Presley with 114, Elton John with 59, The Beatles with 52 and so on...

  • Remember the Good Times and keep the Faith, people!!

  • Very melodic ELO song!

  • This is a great DVD. The quality is excellent and the new band (I think the only carryover is Richard Tandy) is very good. Yes, agree, Jeff Lynne is ELO. Whatever he does is ELO.

  • Well seeing as Lynne owns the name ELO and was the chief driving creative force, I'd say whatever band he assembles is ELO.

  • This lot in the video are NOT ELO with the exception of Jeff Lynne! It is a solo effort.

  • it is a shame the band memeber here are dying

  • BLESS YOU SARGE...DO YOU ACCEPT CASH ONLY?

    BASILISKS TURN TO STONE.....

  • BLESS YOU SARGE...DO YOU ACCEPT CASH ONLY?

  • :)

  • Saw these guys in 1981 in Philly...great show...

  • Wow! Just Wow,,,,,,, :)

  • I grew up on this. Amazing music that cannot even be compared to what is popular today. I don't say that from a vacuum. I love a lot of new music and bands, but if they have even a bit of integrity they will admit this was music that they aspire towards.

  • E.L.O are such an uplifting group! Awesome!

  • I saw Jeff in 1968 when he was in the Idle Race...and been in love with him since..Genius

  • I have been to well over 200 concerts, the first one was in 1976, this is one band I never had the pleasure of seeing, I wanted to to see them so bad. I love all of their music

  • The hell with Rap.

  • I'm so jealous of anyone who has seen them live..so jealous

  • 42 people have no soul

  • i seen them in 1978 with styx!!!!!!!!! they were awsome!!!! it was my vert first concert i went to i was like 17 years old back then

  • i seen them in 1978 with styx!!!!!!!!! they were awsome!!!!

  • their best song to date good band

  • Was there a cooler pop band EVER than ELO... It's weird because his band prior to this called 'The Move" was awesome but very unaccessible

this is just excellent Pop (period)

  • 魔術師ジェフ・リン、エレクトリック・ライト・オーケストラのマジック・ロックン・ロール"ターン・トゥー・ストーン"~10CCとともに夢中だった!

  • Great stuff . I grew up lisening to elo , even after all this time when i hear them its like i hear them for the first time ...

  • Bev has a great radio program on BBCWM, its done very tuesday night and streamed on the BBC west midlands website for a week.

  • Rosie Vela is a honey, she can park her shoes under my bed anynight.

  • The Drummer is Mark Bisonette, the Original Drummer is The legendary Bev Bevan.

  • It's a shame this gem of a band that Jeff put together never made a full concert run back then. It was certainly not a major hall filler, but would have made for some great club and smaller venues.

  • 日本で、ライブを見たいですね。

  • @SrSRuiz I believe there actually three original members. Jeff Lynne, the keboardist and the drummer. Also, one of the guitarists is Neil Aspinall, who played with George Harrison and is featured in the Concert for George performance of 2002. He is one of the finest slide players in the business. There isn't one musition on that stage who isn't worthy of high praise.

  • well...yes, but there are only 2 "ELO" musicians here. The rest are for the show.

  • Melodies are so nice here!

  • So great. They make it look so easy.

  • Yeh this is defintely no mime job. I never thought they could recreate the recorded sound live but I'm VERY happy to hear I was wrong! By the way, forgive my ignorance but whose the gorgeous blond on Jeff's right???

  • @MrPoupard Rosie Vela

  • @MrPoupard By the way, forgive my ignorance but whose the gorgeous blond on Jeff's right???

That would be Rosie Vela and she would have been....oh, about 47 years old in that video. Well preserved, wouldn't you say?

  • @drkjk Belated thanks for the info and yes the lady is beautiful ..... describing her as well preserved is a bit like describing the Pope as Catholic!

  • going through heartbreak and this makes me fell just a bit better would love to go to a concert!

  • happy times!

  • 11 out of 10 for me

  • ELO r the best 10 out of 10 4 me :)

  • I dont know about anyone else but when i hear ELO i immediatley get the fact that he was involved in the Beatles Singles Free as a bird etc the sound is so reminicent of the Beatles and ELO were a fantastic band so tight when i first heard this album on its release it reminded me of surgent peppers brilliant band brilliant Album brilliant memories cheers guys !!

  • awesome!

  • Thumbs up to one of the best bands ever. Thumbs down to the idiots who don't appreciate the music of the eighties.

  • @Jernobal This is from the 1970s mate. From the classic album 'Out of the Blue'. Know what you mean though. ELO = Epic Win!

  • @Jernobal

    Well put.

  • check out the smile at 1:59. priceless! that is a man having a great time!

  • Cracker song , gorgeous backing singer & fantastic drumming !

  • GO E.L.O.

  • Awesome-Rock,pop and classical. What a sound

  • @clusterhed You may also like the modern band Polyphonic Spree. They are also symphonic rock.

  • great job from jeff and the band to keep that magic sound in tact!!

  • Where are they now?

  • Love ELO - then and now.

  • This is quintessential ELO.

  • I found myself stumbling and turned to stone...I love it....

  • ohhhh, turn to stone...

I thought they said too stoned to turn..

Had it wrong all these years!!

    oh well, what the hell!!!

    5 stars for you!!!!

  • This song just makes me feel like wanting to live like as if there is no tomorrow. Despite the catastrophes going on in Japan and in Libya, there comes a time when I just want to live in my bubble when there was a time when life was good.

  • have u ever seen them in live concert with full orchestra? On of the best...

  • 38 people have turned to stone

  • Wow for the ELO live performance & huba huba, mmmmm for the back up vocalist.

  • I would have loved, being at that Concert! ELO? Never got tho see them! One of my regrets!

  • Great composor and performer.

  • 38 Trolls really meant to say DIS I LIKE

  • If you voted thumbs down, you prolly eat warm fecal material from Yoko Ono's shoes

  • When was this song released?

  • oh wow! the song says "turn to stone"

i thought it was "to stoned to turn"

    had it wrong since forever...........lol!!!

  • Jeff hosed her on the fast bar, watch her hands!

  • to BorlandRIP7

The same generation - the same story :-)

  • fucking good

  • @laziogoalie6 not close. not even the same style of music. my guess is you don't know dylan.

  • One of many great tunes by ELOh

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! If you don't like this song, go elsewhere!

  • Cool.

  • great music

  • hahaha sounds like "Turtle stomp"

  • wow brings back memories of a great childhood, owned every one of their brilliant albums.

  • @02browna1

I was a child in the 70's and teenager in the 80's , may be like you..I discovered ELO in 1981 (TIME album) and I still listen with a lot of nostalgy these titles...

  • @laziogoalie6 You're an idiot.

  • I love to watch Rosie, such grace, such beauty.

  • Nothing like a pretty blonde in a black dress to give a great music show an edge!

  • 36 ppl were not turned into stone...to those 36, if you can find someone today able to create what they've done at 1:50, then let me know. Thank god we have youtube to watch and listen to real artists!

  • @thediningrooms uve got that right

  • @thediningrooms shut up with that shit man

  • @thediningrooms I was going to direct you to Goodbye Goodbye by Oingo Boingo, but there was one catch - you said "find someone today". Oingo Boingo is definitely not today. Don't get me wrong, you are preaching to the choir here! I am in agreement with you my friend. ELO is simply amazing.

  • A master of music and one of the gem Songs out there. Got it on my iPod it rocks!

  • anyone who 'thumbs down' this is an idiot. Period.

  • Thumbs up for me....30 years later and they still sound great, thanks for the share, Lou xxxx

  • no way (laugh) is Fred human...Laugh again...never fails to impress me

  • Always Loved this song (and album)....

Jeff Lynn had a way of capturing that "Beatles" sound or feel...without actually trying to emulate or Rip them off !

*Love his "Traveling Wilburys" contortion also.

  • just really miss Kelly and his bass, voice and smile.

  • Been listening to ELO since I was 18 & I'm now 50 ! Jesus music just doesn't get any better than this! Excellent video, many thanks Sgtpepper2

  • @mainstester1 I'm 15 years old, and i have to COMPLETELY agree with you

  • Been listening to ELO since I was 18 & I'm now 50 ! Jesus music just doesn't get any better than this! Excellent video, many thanks

  • cause they suck!........the people...not the band!

  • They rock. And Rosie is sure easy on the eyes.

  • A different kind of music. These are Great musicians, the older (wiser) you get the more you will appreciate them

  • No American Idol here...thems some musicians!

  • top stuff !! nuff said

  • 1598....

  • E.L.O....for Electric Light Orchearstra,,))))

  • Could have been so much better than they were. Can you say Beatles?

  • amazing, wow.

  • Those 35 are from Australia and New Zealand...they actually voted thumbs up!

  • @Zebred2001 That was a great play on geography. Don't know if anyone else got or appreciated that but I laughed till I peed, don't know why I didn't go sooner but thats neither her nor there. That was a FUNNY comment and I for one think you deserve an award.

  • 35 people on youtube are DEAF for not liking this...

  • sounds like a 70's child, thats awesome.

  • My 7 year daughter is groovin' to this right now.

  • I too have now turned to stone.

  • the female vocalist is Rosie Vela I think

  • @elektradog: You are correct.

  • @elektradog Yes, you are correct 8)

  • What a big sound!

  • greatest songwrtier of all time...all respects, but plz....sit dwn Mr Lennon, and just listen to this man.....Genious....bravo!!!

  • Still listing to ELO after all these years... Have all their original albums and have many on on CD's also...

  • @jonesbones638 I don't think you have good hearing. This is not lip syncing. The original track is a much more dense and layered track. This is a live performance and it's obvious.

  • @jonesbones638 You r a moron

  • @nowstick no you are prick fuck

  • @jonesbones638 ... It's not lip syncing ... they are just THAT GOOD that their live performances emulate studio recordings. Something that so many "artists" today will never achieve.

  • yep takes me back - great great band!

  • Great

  • TO "AWESOME",I LOVED THIS SONG AS A KID!!!!!

  • They did a good job trying to rebuild the song's glory, but I don't think its even close to how great it used to be. Jeff needs to reconsider his options, seriously. Although it won't be exactly the same, since two of the band members died...Kelly was a permanent part of Elo.

  • @TheDixiestar He doesn't need to reconsider anything. It's great stuff!

Always has been, always will be!

  • @CScotR91 I agree! Was a great song back then & still is today. You hit the nail on the head-it was, is & forever will be great stuff!

  • what a great band.oh those halycon days

  • You will return again someday, to my blue world.

    Is this about re-incarnation?

  • Seriously, why would 34 people vote thumbs down against 1449 thumbs up (now 1450)?

  • @GTASA911 Because there will always be classless idiots :(

  • @GTASA911 make that 1571

  • @GTASA911 It`s a shame they don`t make music like this anymore,just crap today.

  • @GTASA911 That is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I hit LIKE and saw that 34 people actually didn't like this video! And its a LIVE version..OMG it rocked ;o)

  • @GTASA911 seriously, do you like every song you hear?

  • @GTASA911

Good question!!! They must all be Rap lovers!!!!!!

  • He prolly could not have picked a better b/u singer than Rosie. I mean, even tho' they were "an item", her voice seems to fit Jeff's perfectly. How many of us can say we could join Jeff in an epic like TURN TO STONE and sound so close to the original? I LOVE this whole video!

  • rosie got jammed on the fast bar she throws her hands up !

  • @rvphoto She did pretty well, tho' I don't think I can follow it and I've listened to it for decades! #LOL

  • what year is this?

  • @MsGevie Approximately 1976.

  • @MidAgeAllisonFan

Um............not really. 2001, PBS broadcast, Jeff Lynne would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay younger in 1976. Besides, he prolly did not even KNOW Rosie then!

  • @technocrash09 Funny you called me on that. Right after I answered it occured to me that this performance video was shot much later then when "A New World Record" was released. My answer reflects the song's release date. I assure you I was much younger in 1976 as well. LOL.

  • @MidAgeAllisonFan #LOL#....BTW, what "Allison" r u a fan of? Might be something that would interest me seeing as how you are also an ELO fan.

In 1976 I was in the USAF recently returned from Siagon fighting for our freedom to do exactly what we are doing now. =)

  • @technocrash09 I'm always happy when somebody ask's me about Allison. Just go explore my channel and see that indeed Rock 'N Roll will live on!!!!!!!!!.

BTW; Thank you for your service.

  • ho y love this one my glory days from yesterday1976..att miauu..elo. led zeppelin.arghh

  • I saw ELO in Salem,Or.on their first American tour.73' or 74'.BTO was the main act ELO was the opening act. Both bands blew us away.

  • ELO forever! Best music all over the world :D

  • 2 thumbs way the F UP!

  • Jeff's still got it going on but he sounds subdued here. And ends most the phrases/lines in the same way. Still one of my fav ELO tunes for sure! Maybe he didn't get any sleep with Vela hanging around.

  • WHEN STUFF WAS FUN AND JUST FUNNY!!!!!!! LIL 14 TH AVE KIDS RUNNIN

  • RIP Michael Edwards..

  • I "stoned" whenever I listened to this kick ass 70's tune !!!!

  • Jeff Lynne has so awesome voice!! Lovely song!!!

  • I remember riding my bike home from Tower Records with my first album bought with my own money. "Out of the Blue". I wore that record out!

  • love it..It made my morning.

  • Jeff Lynne is simply a Genius, something between Mozart and Mc Cartney or Brian Wilson.C'est juste la grande classe ,voila quoi!

  • I dont know who the girl is on this singing with him, but she is 'hot' guys!

  • @ScottRocksinNaples It's Rosie Vela.
