The main obstacle to the assimilation of immigrants into our societies is indeed religion in general and islam in particular. To deal with islam in the proper way, they have to deal with all religion equally or give up freedom of religion. This is their dilemma (not mine, though).

Countries, like laws and customs, exist if they are accepted to exist. If nobody else agrees with you your country does not exist, if they do agree your country does exist. Simple. The USA started as a disputed claim, a war was fought and the claim was accepted and peace declared. What is so hard to grasp here?

But if you count that, god does also exist and in that sense countries also exist (as believe patterns of obedience in people's brain). They do not exist objectively however outside people's heads.

Your idea on immigration is both a slightly dangerous and difficult matter, but does have some good points.
Really, immigration creating sub-communities which set themselves apart from the original residents in as far as is possible or palatable to them is somewhat ridiculous and can become a problem. To assess this problem in a fair way is no small issue.

Judaism steals some aspects of Zoroastrianism (good god and evil god, multiple headed beasts) but Christianity carries away the entire carcass of Judaism before leaving the bits it doesn't like to rot on the bones and Islam does the same trick with both Christianity and Judaism, hijacking Jewish prophets and their myths and calling them prophets of Islam with new Arab names.

Just for an example, I have lived in South Korea now for 3 years. If I wanted to become a citizen of South Korea I would have to be nearly fluent in Korean and know much more about Korean history then the average South Korean knows to pass the government tests. As a non-citizen in South Korea I could be automatically deported if I say anything political. Then consider the example of Japan, where is it nearly impossible for anyone who does not have a Japanese parent to become a citizen.

The main obstacle to the assimilation of immigrants into our societies is indeed religion in general and islam in particular. The problem is, in my opinion, that politicians all over Europe are either not able to face this simple fact or paralyzed by their unwillingness to sacrifice christianity in the process of putting islam in its place. To deal with islam in the proper way, they have to deal with all religion equally or give up freedom of religion. This is their dilemma (not mine, though).
