  • The band's energy is amazing - they nailed this.

  • Great video!!!

  • Hi kids! You're probably thinking, "Gee whiz, Ed! I wish *I* could get a lovely clean sound board of this show!" And, of course - you can! Pitch corrected too!

  • RIP Richie Hayward...Great drummer, man!

  • God this brings back a lot of memories.....thanks for an excellent video.

  • my dad just introduced me to Little Feet

  • @ontariobuds Good my dad to

  • I fell in love with Lowell and Little Feat around 1972. WLIR was a great station. Saw the band almost every time they played around the New York area.

  • Does anyone know if this is actually the old Ultrasonic Studios in Hempstead, Long Island (same town as WLIR radio, credited with this clip?) That would be the same studio that Iron Butterfly recorded "In A Gadda Da Vida" at. Would be interesting to know.

WLIR was a killer FM station in it's day.

I saw Lowell George/Little Feat in '72...shot a couple rolls of them live and backstage.

  • "This ain't no disco"...this is the real deal.

  • @JeffSq - Yes it is. I recorded in that room in 1972 and 1973.

Here are some photos for you.

Go to facebook and do a search entering

    the ultra-sonic sessions

  • @RocknRollkat

my search on FB is not working. plz send me a link.

  • @mc2NY and I think it's the same studio that Elton John recorded 11-17-70 I used to live close to Hempstead and would walk by Ultrasonic many times,,, It was just a plain looking building on Main St,,little did I realize what was going on behind the walls

  • A little known recording studi on Long Island. But I saw them the same year at My Fathers Place in Roslyn and they blew the doors off the building for 3 hours!!!! A classic live show!!! God Bless Lowell and The Feat!!!!!

  • Love the T-shIrt! 0:59

    Great post JeffSq.

  • How cool you are for posting this. Long live the Fat Man in the Bathub.

  • great song, great vocals, but still it was all about lowell george....a genius...period...greatly missed....rip

  • One of the greatest Little Feat performances ever!

The version of "The Fan" from this show is mind blowing!

*sigh* I miss the old WLIR. Such a great radio station back in the day...

BTW: What's up with the "Rolling Manner" title? ;)

  • High quality audio of this performance is available at archiveDOTorg. derived from two different audio sources flac or shnf.

    Just search Little Feat WLIR

Also, another show from April '73 and other Little Feat on site

  • Wow. Lowell George looks really high. But he sure could play that slide guitar, no matter what kind of altered state he was in.

  • I was at this concert! I was doing AM Drive at the time for WLIR.

    Thanks for posting!

  • If i ever start a Little Feat cover band im calling it Rollin Manner

  • @sateliteoflove202 the song is called "Oh Atlanta"....

  • I know that. Too lazy to go back over previous comments to decipher what I was thinking 6 months ago. It made sense at the time. Lol. But still, Rollin Manner isnt a bad tribute band name.

  • fave band of all time groove groove have they ever played a tune that dont groove

  • ultimate road song!!!

  • Tx for sharing

  • Pause & Check out Lowell's face at 2:19....thx, that was awesome.

  • This was recorded on the day I was born 9/19/1974

  • ok. I just gotta ask, and don't kill me, but doesn't that pi-any player in the opening sound like Leon Russel?

I know. slap me..but I swear I hear Leon Russel in there..

  • can anyone tape this ,for me to boogy in the workshop and keep it un digitised,?thanksfor sharing this ,spot on

  • where can i get this on a record and not digitised?

  • this is my favorite little feat song

  • Holy Jebus on a Pogo stick! THANKS, this made my day, I had no idea this existed. Saw da Feats in a small theater in 1976 & to this day one of top 5 concerts I ever saw. They blew the roof off.

  • I challenge to stay still during this tune. What a rocker !

  • Wow. This is like if a video of the Dead on 5-8-77 surfaced. Amazing.

They groove so hard, even the band can't help but dance.

  • what's the reference to the Dead on 5-8-77 about if you don't mind my askin' ?

  • What I meant to say is that this is legitimately one of the best sounding LF shows available...and to have video footage of it is pretty epic.

Just imagine if we have video footage of the Dead's most epic shows (well, I guess we do for 8/27/72, but not others).

  • OK, but was 5/8/77 an epic Dead show or something? ...And which show was 8/27/72? (I actually saw the movie "Sunshine Daydream" once).

  • 8/27/72 was the legendary Eugene Oregon show

(aka sunshine daydream) led/filmed by ken kesey and the merry pranksters...the fairgrounds show still goes on every year and it next to impossible to get camping passes (locals/vip only!!)

lots of lsd and little water...........

  • think this stage of the feats carer was their most potent and productive

  • This is the oldest Feat I have ever seen, thanks JeffSq a terrific share. I saw them do this on the WFColumbus tour ATL Fox Theater 5/11/78 George ruled the stage...except he stepped off during Day at the Dog Races. There was nobody like Little Feat and I still take exception to their being lumped in with southern rock. Don't you dare!! They kicked most Post-Allman southern rock in the ass.

  • little feat were the best rock band of the 70s, pure and simple. they are absolutely uncontested in any way; the group interaction is simply phenomenal. if you liked this, don`t miss "apolitical blues" in a 1977 version with lowell george soloing alongside the wonderful mick taylor...(on youtube). enjoy!

  • amen

  • Sorry that should read Electrif. Lowell looks like one cool mother on this, I can't believe I have eventually seen this footage. JeffSq is a saint for uploading this. Thank you man.

  • I could listen to this all day. I have the Electric Lycanthrope album on vinyl and it is, with my original Verve Zappa albums, my pride and joy. Interesting to see this video, it is mind blowing. Much love for this.

  • Thanks for taking the time to get all these great vids out for the fans. Thanks to the band as well for being so cool about sharing their great music.

  • Oh, I remember this was the song Bill Payne came up with, when Lowell asked him to write a top 40 song that would be a hit!

God bless Little Feat. They really never got the recognition they deserved, much less the wealth that comes with being really famous.

However, their music is just wonderful, and I listen to it pretty regularly.

  • this version is way better than the album version...& this band is so under rated

  • no they're not...they're legends world wide

  • I believe this was recorded at a sound check and was released as the bootleg Electric Lycanthrope album.

Other songs were Rock and Roll Doctor, On Your Way Down, Dixie Chicken and about 4 others.

I have one of these pressings and you wpold have to kill me to get hold of it.

  • ummm... this is "Oh Atlanta"

  • time well spent

  • Oh, this is criminal all right. These guys should be heard everywhere, and there should be no contest as to which band is the best. Biased? You bet!

  • The true genius of little feat - tight as f#$k! My son watching Chris Brown 38 million hits - this 15,000 - that's criminal! Come to NZ LF!

  • BIG THANKS for this one! Doastoothersteeth, you have my vote for yes, the best band ever! Rest in peace Lowell George.

  • I've had this complete set on cassette tape for years - it is a legendary set. Awesome to see the vid after all these years. Thank you.

  • pretty, bearded guy in the Afghan headwear...

were you keeping the west coast dealer community

    going almost single-handed...?

    Great band, possibly the greatest!!

  • at their loose-limbed greatest!

  • everyone needs a red-haired dream at least once in their life!

  • Wow, this is terrific stuff! Great band, really neat vid.

  • thank you jeffsq ooop chris from pa

  • Goosebumps I tell ya!! ... this is from the year I *discovered* the Feat ... any wonder why they've been my favorite band ever since?

    Thanks everso
