Mayne he was da most feared fighter n da 90s not named Mike Tyson, fighters were actually scared, if it wasnt 4 da money i think dey wouldve quit n not risk gettin knocked out
roy won fights with pure talent but there were alot of flaws in his style. thats why he started getting knocked out when he lost a step and his reflexes got slower
Why does the comments section on every boxing video have to turn into a discussion about Mayweather and Pacquiao? They probably will never even fight. If you want to debate join the endless and increasingly pointless debate about those two, why not do it on a video or forum thread that is actually about them?
@Midnightrambler3760 ha you could see he was game very early until he realized all the lil' things he worked on in the gym werent coming even close to working against jones
@KingRhaul It will be the same as Floyd/Pacquaio. Pac fans say Roach will come up with a brilliant strategy but you cannot teach a guy in a few months what it takes to beat a guy with other wordly skills.
There will be so much hype and after round 2 or 3 the announcers will be saying 'Why didn't we see this coming?"
@Midnightrambler3760 hmmmm dont think so, mayweather is an awesome fighting machine but he's always have problems with lefties, before he fought shane the few times i've seen him get nailed and hurt had been against lefties and those were fights when he was in his 20's and was faster and had fresher legs than he does now, i'm not saying he wont beat pacquiao but the got between him and pacquiao cannot be compared to the gap between V.P and R.J
@KingRhaul I always wonder why people say Floyd had trouble with lefties, I guess it stems from Judah a guy who Floyd beat 9-2-1 in rounds. Judah who was afraid to throw a punch by round 6 and had to resort to a low blow to survive.
Or maybe it was Corley, who hit Floyd with one good shot in 12 rounds. A fight which Floyd won 11-1 in rounds and knocked Corley down twice.
Not sure how a combined 20-3-1 in rounds with 2 KD's equals trouble with lefties.
@Midnightrambler3760 you must be joking about floyd beating judah 9-2-1... judah won the first half of the fight hands down and even knocked floyd down, then he ran out of steam like always and got his ass whopped.
@KingRhaul The myth of Judah's domiantion seems to grow with each passing year. After 4 rounds the judges had it 2-1-1 and then Floyd rattled off 8 straight rounds basically uncontested and Judah needed to resort to a blow to avoid a knock out.
@KingRhaul Watch the 4th round again.....with 54 seconds left in the round Judah landed a right hook. With about 46 seconds left he tried it again and missed because Floyd adjusted and landed a crushing body with 44 seconds left.
In fact just don't watch it, listen to it. After that Judah was done.
It is amazing how many guys seem to "run out of steam" against Floyd. You did not consider that Floyd made him fight at a pace he could not maintain and then figured him out and shut him down.
@KingRhaul It was sucj a subtle adjustment made by Floyd, a simple pivot of his lead foot and game over.
This is where Flody will destroy pacquaio, when things do not go pac's way he cannot adjust. Marquez figured Pac out after a couple of rounds and shut him down, twice.
@Midnightrambler3760 there's no arguing the fact that floyd's a master at adjusting and figuring fighters out, he's an awesome fighter. He will be destroyed by pacquaio though
@KingRhaul I understand how people do not see the gap between Floyd and Pac because Pac's choice of slow-footed, face-first, defenseless opponents.
But consider this, Antonio "The Mummy" Margarito hit Pacquaio with 68 more punches than both Mosley and Marquez combined managed to hit Floyd.
People also point back to a fight that happened 8 years ago to say see, Floyd got hit and then ignore teh fact that Pac gets hit routinely against guys like Clottey and Margarito.
@meynard1 what i meant was his style of boxing with no guard, no hands up isnt the sign of a boxer but a clown or street fighter who doesnt know what he doing. real boxers are like manny paquiao, tyson, etc.. of our gen and the better boxers of old gen were better.
@draziom902 ok your statment is so wrong cause if he has his hands down is cause that´s the style he learned since he was 10. Roy is far off for being a clown if you had any boxing sence you would know that roy was one of teh few boxer´s that dominated teh middle weight to light heavy weight devision for over 10 years. So bro don´t even reply cause you have no base to prove your points.
@meynard1 i would not worry about the shmuck called draziom902. he is probably a she and she definantly does not know boxing. that style is a variation of the slick style that few schools or gyms have the skill to teach. gayweather uses it but i hate him (hence the name play). it is very hard to learn but it is effective and as a bonus it helps cut out wasted movement and carrying heavy padded fists and tired arms through an entire fight. nothing that douche would understand.
anybody can get muscles and slug. what roy had was natural superspeed and technique. people can say what they'd like, but he won that olympic bout in korea, he fought some good competition and God allowed this man to leave his mark on the world.
i don't like paz.....good fighter in his day but he was a cocky ignorant motha fucka. jones made em look like real stupid with those laser like jobs and beautiful combos.....awesome performance.
you saying hopkins and toney are nobodies? Besides, all you people who slag jones for not fighting anyone...gimme one person in the 90s who could have beat jones? And he was completely out of prime when he got knocked out.
He didn't travel, so he was hardly invincible, even when at his peak. If he were he would have traveled.
Nigel Benn, Herol Graham, Julian Jackson, Michael Nunn, Chris Eubank, Gerald McClellan ALL had a good chance of beating Jones, especially if he had the balls to leave his own living room.
I didn't say he was invincible. I do think jones avoided fighters who could give him a difficult time like Benn but then again when you look at his achievements against other fighters, most notably john ruiz. That kind of dispels the notions those guys would beat him. I doubt any of those fighters could have moved up to fight a heavyweight. I still doubt those fighters would have beat him. Tested him, yes, but not beat him.
@imperialpod ...Maybe. Graham, Jackson, Nunn and Eubank would have been beaten easily. Benn and McClellan would've had a shot....But, don't blame ONLY Jones for his unwillingness to travel--There was nothing preventing Darius Mich from buying a plane ticket and leaving Germany.Jones was the draw--so he let the challenges come to him...
you must be retarded!!... Roy jones jr is fucking the best p4p ever!!!!!!!!!... calapussy fights bums... he aint shit 10 years from now he will be looked at as a pussy who ducked fighters in their primes
ok I admit it, Roy is fast as lightning, once he got his jab going, it was striking at will. 5:40 i'm almost positive he cut pazienza with the right uppercut, No heads collided, and he was holding paz as he sneaked in that uppercut. :48-:1:00 as Al Bernstein says "it's jones doing all the work." all that dodging and escaping for 1 body hook, and roy hits him with a hook at the same time
Kevin Rooney had no idea what to tell Pazienza in the corner. "you gotta get on him" everytime he tried to "get on him Roy counter punched him and made him pay for coming inside. He should have tried to counter punch Roy which is the best way to neutralize speed it really didn't matter he was so out classed he had no chance either way.
if only roy had used that jab against calzaghe, it cmay have made a difference. he may not have the same speed anymore, but he now has to use a more conventional style of boxing at his age.

Pac will be out of his league.
Midnightrambler3760 1 year ago
@KingRhaul FYI, the judges scored it 11-1, 8-4 and 9-3 for an average of 9.3 to 2.6 or 9-2-1.
Isn't it interesting how what really happened never seems to match what you think happened?
Floyd is so good that even if a guy has minor success it is blown way out of proportion.
Midnightrambler3760 1 year ago
@Midnightrambler3760 there's no arguing the fact that floyd's a master at adjusting and figuring fighters out, he's an awesome fighter. He will be destroyed by pacquaio though

@KingRhaul Jones had a 4" reach advantage over Paz which he used effectively, Floyd holds a 6" reach advantage over Pacquaio.
Jones had a 3 1/2" height advantage over Paz, officially Flloyd has a 2" height advantage over Pac but it is actually 3".
Pac routinely gets hit by lesser fighters I do not see what he can possibly have that would give Floyd any trouble.
All I can say is Floyd will disassemble Pac in the most overhyped mismatch in boxing history. Wait and see.
