I'm actually going to be working at a hospital with a fire alarm system similar to that one! But instead of strobes, some areas have incandescent lights with the word "FIRE" on triangular-shaped lens
@lkfcobra It may have a message it's just that it could've been programmed to play the message two or three times after a first round of that whooping and we missed it because the uploader didn't start the video until after it was done. Notice that the alarm stops about 30 seconds into the video. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never seen a fire drill that only lasts 30 seconds lol
i was visiting someone in hospital when the fire alarm went off! it really scared us! the entire hospital was evacuated we were all standing outside and u could hear all the sirens from the fire engines in the distance! I remember walking out and all the shutters for the cafe's and that were closing themselves!
@zacywacytheboxer Yeah they had emergency shutters set up some buildings have those instead of fire doors the thing comes down and blocks the path completely instead of just a door that you can open and close. They have to be reset to make them open.
It looks like a simplex TrueAlert speaker/strobe or another simplex model but either it doesn't have a voice message or the message only plays at the beginning and the video started afterwards. And the siren noise is definitely a Simplex tone.
@Gb755c that was my old hyperbaricchicken101 channel which i shut down but yeah i stay at the dorm at School which is why i can only access my account on the weekends.
@fayesthing hospitals have different procedures than other buildings when it comes to fire alarms because they have patients of varying levels of health. There is simply not enough staff to evacuate them all in a timely manner. And as the title says it was just a drill
That sounds exactly like the fire alarms at the middle school near my house. They do a female voice message too, and they use the same speaker alarms as in this video
@Gb755c I don't know; I only heard the Slow Whoop when they were testing the alarms one afternoon during school February vacation. The panel is a Simplex 4100U.
@BandGeek6241 It's true, it IS the 4100U Slow Whoop, but doesn't just pertain to the 4100U, as c&s20 said, as I do own an INFOAlarm, but the INFOAlarm, as well as the original 4100U can have different tone settings by having the Simplex Tech change it. That's what I plan to do to mine.

Did any one eles think that that sounded like a tornado siren but cut off??
jeydonwaleshot15 9 months ago
Older hospitals usually used chimes for fire alarms, since a harsh sound could frighten cardiac patients.

try UCSF, 5th floor...and the doctors locking you in the room, when your first instinct is to use the exit.

NEVDAVS1970 1 year ago
they should have had it on chime!!! it's a hospital, don't make people freaked out because you made your alarm sound a tornado warning
B0BBY77 2 years ago 2
That's the 4100U slow whoop. When Simplex came out with this system I think they altered the pitch just a little compared to the other slow whoop.
BandGeek6241 2 years ago
There is no such thing as "4100U slow whoop." This tone can be found on the optional 4100U voice evac add-on or the newer 4003.
coffeeandsugar20 2 years ago
Oh. weatherdan referred to it as the "4100U slow whoop" so that's why I said that.

The main hospital in my town has fire alarms like that, but many of them have an older triangle-shaped light with "FIRE" on the lens
wilek209 2 years ago 18
@wilek209 They are probably older speaker/strobes the triangle-shaped strobes are no longer used for new systems.
Gb755c 10 months ago
@wilek209 They have those in my old elmentary school's restrooms
