im so confused! i have a 3.71 m33-2, its "hacked" so it plays games using the memory stick. Which firmware do i get so i can play patapon 3. and it should be hacked so i can put it on my..memory stick..a couple of my friends screwed it and their psps went blank.

@aksarayish but that's not custom firmware, so you can't play the .iso files... full games w/o the UMD, just whatever you download from the PSN. with custom firmware, you can play the digital copies of games you already have, as a backup in case the UMD fails. (or you can pirate them outright, if you don't mind the whole prison thing, lol)

Excellent video demonstration. I have had my PSP since the time it was practically released. Thanks to this video, I've upgraded my PSP from Ver 2.60 direct to Ver 6.37... As far as the update is concerned, I would recommend that the Update is performed as close as possible to the Wireless Access Point for maximum signal strength along with the power adapter connected to the PSP. I am using an Airport.

Preferably free up as much space as possible from the stick.

The PSP has come from a long way.

hey gadget hacker. the update thing worked!!! its awesome. but i have one problem. i have a game called assasins creed bloodlines downloaded and in my memory stick. but the thing is...every time i try to start it, it says the game could not be started. my other game, n+, works just fine but this one doesnt. i dont know whats wrong. is there something wrong with the game?

@wow71196 depends, if you updated to 5.00m33 and it doesn't work, then you have to update to 5.50GEN-D3 probably because there is a bug that won't play Assassin's Creed Bloodlines on 5.00m33. Try updating to the 5.50GEN series instead.

@wow71196 Try formatiing your memory stick. Everytime you update your firmware, you have to format your memory stick. Cuz the game works fine on 3.71 m33-2

hey gadgethacker can you help me out with something. once i downloaded the files i have a winrar file and a file that says 500.pbp. i extracted the winrar file and i have an update and translate folder. i went to the update folder and found a file called eboot.pbp. in the instructions you said to rename the the eboot.pbp to 500.pbp. i realized that if i do this then i will have 2 500.pbp files. and you said i have to have one eboot.pbp and one 500.pbp. how do i do this. PLEASE REPLY!!!!!

@wow71196 okay, yes i said to rename it to 500.pbp, but i meant if the 500.pbp was accidentally downloaded as eboot.pbp then rename it back. The one in the folder should be kept as eboot.pbp

@wow71196 "The game could not be started" error message only happens if you are not on Custom Firmware or you did not change your ISO driver properly from the recovery menu. Hold R when boot up and then Configuration. Make sure UMD Driver is set to M33 (No UMD) and not UMD Required.

turn it off take ur battery off then connect to charger ok make sure ur battery is fully down when u take it off then play a game while connected to charger then put in battery quickly take your charger out then turn it off of its on and u turn it off it will brick then then take ur battery off then put it back on it should turn on by itself then it says install cfw do it then after tht ur psp will brick then put ur batt in and charge it then it should turn normal with cfw

Download the firmware file in the description. It should be 500.PBP and put that at the root directory of your PSP. Not MP_ROOT, but the main folder of the memory stick.

i upgraded firmware, my game won't show. i had to upgrade because of the 80020148 error, but then it shows no game in the game part. i put it in iso for sure, and checked the system firmware and it said version 6.10 so i don't know whats wrong. HELP

You should not have updated to 6.10. If you have a pandora battery and a magic memory stick, then you can downgrade back to 5.00m33 or 5.50GEN-B. You should have went into the Recovery Menu -> Configuration -> UMD Required > NO UMD REQUIRED

well i found out that you can just downgrade it with the pandora battery. and it worked for me. but the 80020148 error is still there after i've tried everything recommended. guess its just the game cause some games work and some don't, but the ones that don't work are the newest games.
