  • GEORGE.

  • It's from a Great Album: "Living In The Material World" circ. 1973

Bought it when it first came out!!! Hit single from the album:

Give Me Live (Give me Peace on Earth)

  • Wah ! George is actually smiling!

  • Thanks George!

  • @TheChristina1954 Thank you! (I'm the Christine 1951 lol) I just realized the documentary about George, Living in the Material World by Martin Scorcese just came out yesterday on HBO (so I couldn't see it :-( ) I think I can get the DVD next month, I can't wait. I will wear that thing out! Now, to google the reviews.....

  • Kinda Sounds like a BeachBoy tune.

  • i hope i met you george

  • yeah!!!!

  • Totally wrong that this song (which was written by George in his solo career) has a featuring picture of him with the 'other boys' .

This is HIS song. None of the other Fab 3 had anything to do with it. It came out on George;s album " MATERIAL WORLD"

  • hasnt got one dislike... never seen that before

  • To @accordionreid and @darkhoarse820, as a good George fan, i enjoy very much your comments on George's voice an albums. I feel identified with you. (btw, in which range do you put the Cloud Nine album?) I'm fan of The Beatles, John and Paul. John and Paul are very, very good, but George... is in another plane, in another dimension. It´s wonderful in many senses, guitar player, singer, composer, human being, father, mate, friend, etc., etc.

  • @EnriqueF00 You have said what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words. George IS in another plane, he came through the cauldron of Beatlemania with a religion he never left, which led him to profound music as well as a good and admirable life. His spirit remains to uplift us, when I see his dear face I relax & think positively. I say, Paul is Beatles light, John was Beatles heavy, Ringo is Beatles zany but George, George is just right.

  • Obviously , he was the best Beatle , the most talented with the most beautiful voice.

(I love the other 3 very much too)

  • @Iantorchwood94 I completely agree. George was the man.

  • Mi canción favorita de LITMW

  • Video is really great..Thanks !

Thanks George for the amazing music that you gave to this world.

    always in our heart.

  • Pure genius.

  • happy birthday RIP

  • Beautiful...this song perfectly describes my love life right now haha. I <3 George!

  • yeah!

  • What a brilliant song by a brilliant musician. Thank you George for all you gave us. You are not forgotten!

  • another amazing thank you

  • Love it! Something about his voice.. Just gotta love it!

  • George's falsetto is great!

  • All things must pass (regretfully).

  • he was a great musician so his tunes always had good orchestration.

Paul does it too, but george's work has an immediacy. not just in this song (intended pun) he sings about the present. And at the same time has a folksy voice and great lyrics. great we can get it all on you tube.

  • Just another of George's many underrated, drop-dead gorgeous tunes.

  • @asktunes Like all the best Beatle tunes, simple but not easy. "The sound of a thousand castanets"!

  • nice pic of the boys smiling

  • .... get a bloody move on D!!! This is murder! ha ha ha........ I love you....so dont make me wait too long! All my love your liberian girl! lol <3 xxxxxx <3

  • I hadn't thought about it before, but they do sound the same, however I think that "Me and you and a dog named Boo" was released in 71, and Dont let me Wait was 73. I'm sure it's extremely hard to be completely original, and it doesn't mean you have copied anyone directly.

  • @piggyjo The artist was Lobo!

  • Great song. The guy who did Me and You and a Dog Named Boo stole the intro.

  • I agree...............

  • its nay- the point

  • i think big star were listening to george a lot ?

  • THEY SURE WERE AND Badfinger =Alex and Jody have saiD so -which George plaYed a lot of his best solo licks on Badfinger early albums as well as produing Badfinger...

  • Right on spot. Now I need to rediscover some of Badfingers LP's.

  • this is the best song on Living in the Material World

  • AND THE WORST WAS -SUE ME SUE YOU BLUES' MAN THAT ONE SUCKED BIG TIME.. as a kid i was even jumping that track....boring music boring subject...but THIS '' I COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY IT WASNT IST CHOICE AS A SINGLE'' ITS BETTER THAN GIVE ME LOVE'......TO MY EARS...

  • It was suppose to be the follow up single to Give Me Love but never did 'materialize'=-and I never understood why--it's a great Harrisong and deserves more attention

  • i don't agree with you:)

I think that Sue Me Sue You Blues is very nice..The lyrics are smart and sarcastic and the music is interesting..I also like the drums in it...

It's not one of his best but I like it:)

I will agree that Don't Let Me Wait Too Long would be a better single...

George has done some mistakes...such as not releasing I live For You..anyway, that's it:)

  • FAIR ENOUGHT but i still think it stinks'SUE ME SUE YOU BLUES'' to my ears is lazy sogwriting= it ruins the feel of 'Living in the Materiall World'...Miss o Dell or Deep Blue'..would sat better....And i feel the same about ABBERY ROAD..;;Maxwell silver hammer'= andOctapuss Garden.. just ruin the album,,,,max is just plaim shite- and ringos song would be a better b side..Cold Turkey and Goodby'..are better

  • was "this is love" a harrison single?

  • to tapeduk: I am a big George fan (a fanatic).....but that being said....the reason why most of his albums in the post "All things Must Pass" era seemed less potent was because of the way they were produced. George has a somewhat thin voice and it needs to be bolsterd by double tracking the voice and echo/reverb. Also....the elaborate orchestrations (like in All Things Must Pass) really helped the songs

  • I agree with that in some cases, the wall of sound could have helped many of George's songs. But you listen to the While My Guitar Gently Weeps acoustic demo and his voice is perfect just raw and by itself, so it wasn't necessarily thin. He had a big Indian influence to the inflection of his singing voice in many of his songs, and that might have turned some people off or made them think he had a weak voice. But you couldn't sing "Something" like that and have a thin voice.

  • @superman11978 Critics say his voice was weak. He had a range just as good as Lennon McCartney. Listen to his high notes on this song. It is brilliant.

  • @accordionreid This is a good comment to comment on...What I notice throughout the Beatle years is that George's voice is usually in a lower register during backing vocals and three-part harmony songs. Then, around Help!/Rubber Soul, it would go back and fourth. Sometimes, even singing the middle harmony, like on In My Life. Then, by Abbey Road, you can clearly tell it's George handling most (if not all) of the high to falsetto register.

  • @darkhoarse820 This was a Single release (not too many people know that) after his number one smash Give Me Love ( which music fans were getting annoyed at his religious beliefs) so in return he delivers this nice melody and high falsetto vocals. One other Single he uses well his falsetto voice is in the song You from Extra Texture which perhaps was his greatest album and certainly one of the best album covers of any artist.

  • @accordionreid Must have been some rare B-side that no one heard of...

LITMW is his second best album (nothing surpasses ATMP) simply because of the super melodies in the lyrics of every song. This particular track is one of the top three on the album. However, what I meant by the previous comment was to emphasize that he was well primed as a lead vocalist (in the realm of falsetto) by the time the solo work came to be. The mere progression through the Beatle years shows proof.

  • @darkhoarse820 Extra Texture may be his third best album but I think Extra Texture contains the best "mixed texture" songs of any album. The first two you mentioned are the greatest songs but Extra Texture is better mixed perhaps with the exception of the last track which is not well mixed (on purpose). You are right as far as the vocal progression and possibly his composing progressed too with his singing.

  • I disagree - Phil Spector didn't do justice to George's voice in most cases. ATMP is great, but his voice doesn't sound this good on any of those tracks. Compare the naked I Me Mine version to the original from Let It Be for an example of how Spector's production did no good for George's voice.

  • BEATLES/George = epitome of COOL

    PEACE everyone

    =D

  • Great song would have made a great single

  • i bought the Living in the Material World album from a budget rack for about 50 cents back in the early 80s. i was hooked on this album for years.

  • I've always thought I was a HUGE George fan, but I never did get this album...Thank you superman11978! This and "That is all" have blown me away!!!!!!!! Thank you George!

  • This song is pure joy. Would have made a nice follow-up single to "Give Me Love" back in "73. Actually, while you're listening to this close your eyes and picture... The Ronettes!... Right?!?

  • to 45spindle: yeh......if you have musical imagination....you can hear this as a Ronnettes song with full "spector-ized" production. I would have never thought of that......but having mentioned it....yeh, I can definately hear it.

  • It's one of my favorite Harrisongs....

  • RED !!!!!!!!!

  • What a great song! <3 George

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  • GREAT PICTURE OF THE BOYS

  • Its intellectually about a girl he's missing, but George's heart meant also about the soul's longing for union with the encompassing transcendant consciousness

  • just the same for me, I didn't know this song, I just heard the guitar on radio and I said: woooo this is george!!!! ye!! just a few search on google and I found it was HIM!! great musicians great guy, I love him!

  • @coanmarc that happens also to me when I listen his songs in the radio

  • WONDERFUL SONG!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bless George, his melodies were fantastic and his music was purely mystical.

  • yeah this was a great song should of been the single..also love the opening pic of the beatles

  • I always loved the way that George Harrison changes the emphasis on the words in this song when he repeats them back. He has always done it, but does it more than ever in this song. "Now only you know how to dry-eye up" etc

  • Love this song!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG, THANKS GEORGE !!!

  • Always nice to find that a song that's been 'playing' in my mind, can actually be found on YouTube.

  • Gteat song. Isnt a pity it never got any air play

  • A pity 'tis...however, this song and the divine album which it's from (Living in a Material World) had ample "air time" in my life.

  • Gteat song. Isnt a pity it never got any air play
