The main reason: Market Research.Europe and the UK is notorious for not caring about theme parks (ie Euro Disney).There aren't any major theme park companies in the UK with the ability to build the park except for Disney and Ms Rowling did not want Disney to take on the project.The majority of the market share of the Harry Potter books and movies is in the US (the movies are produced by an American movie studio).Universal Studios had the space and the ability to build the park.Ms Rowling agreed.

@maxellsg120 Couldn't have said it better. Yet when you're in Orlando (especially Disney) it seems like there are tons of Europeans. I've actually heard from some of them that it's cheaper for them to vacation in Orlando than to go to Disneyland Paris.

I just went. It was so crowded that after we got in line to get in the park, we had to get in line for just the Harry Potter section for almost 6 hours and they never even stopped ticket sales. It was so crowded in Hogsmeade that we couldn't even get inside the shops. I did go in the Hogwarts ride and that was very cool, but Orlando Studios is to blame for the bad experience. Everyone should wait a while to go.

Hogsmeade Looks awesome...But seeings that they say there gonna have an olivanders...(which is gonna be in hosmeade) kindof stinks....Olivander's is supposed to be in Diagon Alley...Which hopefully they'll add on within the years......And also if u look at the new photos of hogwarts.....when it is completed...not all of it is buil....just thye front side...the backside is this white concrete builing which will be the Forbidden journey.....But still..i wish it was more realistic..

I'm waiting until December of 2011 to go, because this year will be jam-packed with tourists from all over the world (do remember that the books themselves are written in 65 different languages, and this is the only Harry Potter world in, well, the world) and I CAN'T WAIT!!! Hello, The park will open on june 18,2010. Keep in mind that they have to complete all sections of the ground work,buildings,rides,walk ways,electrical and alot of other things. Also when work is completed there will be alot of test going on to make sure everything is tight and working good before an inspection can be passed for the theme park to open.

No its not cheap cardboard. I watched a special on the making of the park and they went to extensive detail hiring people from the films and some of the worlds best construction crews to make it as authentic as possible. They want the buildings to last a long time,there not gonna half ass it after putting so much $ into it.
