  • the 90's supersport cars where the fastest. No doubt, its impressive check the jaguar xj220 ferrari f50 maclare f1 mercedes clk gtr top speds acelleration etc and compare to a pagani zonda or a new jaguar or ferrari. they where faster...

  • @PentruRasaAlba No, it wasn't. You're comment on the other hand....

  • BECAUSE RACECAR

  • I still can't believe this car flopped... It is an amazing machine!

  • it is too bad that only 281 cars were produced

  • I would fuck this car in the tail pipe! I love it so much!

  • The light red car is XJ220 chassis #2 which was the experimental car and has several noticible difference from the final version (the blue and cranberry cars in this vid)

  • I am utterly in love with this car.. But at least now I know why it flopped. I could make a better video by running the camera over with the car!

    ... now that's an idea

  • The promotional video was crap.

  • beauty, expect for the wheels

  • A work of art on four wheels.

  • :-)

In love with that car. (also since childhood)

    CHEERS!

  • looking back I wish they had used the V12, and had done a better job for the dash, but overall -- what a beautiful car

  • the best promo footage of that car was NFS 2 SE, all lovers of that car should see the ingame showcase video

  • One of the most stunning beast cars ever! and it can STILL decimate most SuperCars of today.

  • front of the car is ugly , back is looking good .

  • they couldnt use the v12 twin turbo as planned cos of emissions regulations, and as a result we were robbed of the car that god would drive

  • @levrone007

It was a 7,0litre normally aspirated V12. No turbos. That and the 4WD made the car too long, too heavy and like you said it had trouble passing the emissions. Instead they used their racing bred twin turbo V6, which they already used in their Group C car in 1991.

  • @McLarenMercedes And to be fair the 6r4 v6 was a legend.. that engine allowed the xj220 to comfortably beat the zonda in a drag race.. despite being 200kg heavier!!

  • @McLarenMercedes Indeed, despite it's Austin-Rover Origins the TWR Tuned, Twin Turbo, Quad Cam, 3.5L V6 was a more effective Powerplant, with about the same HP output but with More Torque

(which is why XJ220 has twice outdragged the Lighter & more Powerful V12 Engined Pagani Zonda ; )

Should point out though that the V6 was first used by Austin-Rover in the last two years of Group-B Rallying.

  • OMG the music is SO annoying!

  • The problem is that it's the size of a bus and was designed for a 12 cyl engine not a 6. It looks ungainly and needs a bigger engine that gets it power from capacity not forced induction.

  • @aerowayne1 yes he is

  • THE REASON THEY CALLED IT " JAGUAR XJ220 " ;

IS BECAUSE, THIS INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL MACH-

INE CAN QUITE EASILY ACHIEVE SPEEDS IN EXCESS

    OF ( 220+ MILES PER / HOUR ) MPH !!!

  • @MrDAVIDEO84 Correct (223 MPH to be exact [Or 230MPH if you had a "XJ220-S"]).

  • Comment removed

  • I was robbed by jaguar and mondiale assistance who accepted teh case under warranty, towing and rental car and 3 days oassed they said cause i refused to show the problem to the towing company they sent me 2 invoices;I had tp pay 288 cause one dealership gave up ;it will have been free but then they charged me again 400 euros on top of this,7 months of problems under warrranty,I call this PURE RACKET

  • The XJ 220 was supposed to be an utterly amazing supercar with a V12 Twin turbo but alas over a few short months bureaucracy decided to tame it down to a great supercar with a V6

  • a nice groupd of thiefs, dont wait anything from teh warranty except a run around,

type on google my last experience with jagaur france warranty

  • LOVE the car... yet the song sounds like it's from porno of the time. XP

They need more sounds of the engine revving. Man the shots of the car... and the car itself are great.

  • when you need parts under constructor warranty ,they tells you they are not is stock and have you wait 45 days until you break the car a little more..they lied and if you react they put some fear against you,it is a pure robbery, jaguar france are thiefs,7 months and still the car is not fixed, have me wiat 3 months for parts.A warranty under their "echeances" what a shame, pass the word please!

the xj8 2007 facelift full of steering problems, steering rack and steering column.

  • Music reminds me of Risky Business.

  • A Maclaren F1 cost £680.000 Pound Sterling at Launch in 1994 and these days would be many times that and therefore almost unobtainable, On the other hand even at its Launch in 1992 the Jaguar XJ220's Price was £350.000-430.000 At Maximum and due to a Stock Market Crash at the time the last XJ220'S were much Less than that at £100.000, Not a bad deal since the XJ220 is at 223.7MPH (or 230MPH if you have one of the Six 680HP Carbon Fibre Cars) while the F1 can do no more than 241MPH at Most.

  • i've never saw an XJ220 =( just my father saw one, at Europe Avenue, in São Paulo

  • But these days you can buy a XJ220 for as little as £100.000 Pound Sterling!

I like anyone to try to name a Supercar with such Spectacular Performance which

you can by for the same Amount, Not just that but they only built 107 Maclaren F1's

(Of which only 67 were road legal and three have been Crashed) whereas Jaguar has 281 XJ220's to its credit!! 6 of which were the 680HP 230MPH- XJ220S Verson. (thats right 230MPH!!

  • for the price of a jag xj220 you could also get a mclaren f1 in the 90s. Around 2,5 million are paid for a mclaren f1 today, but only 500k for the jag. So if you bought a jag you made the wrong decision

  • Like them or not, they fit the car well; it just wouldn't look right without them.

  • I had the computer game of this car on the AMIGA 500 great game even better car !

  • this car is over ten years old and is faster than a pagani zonda and that is saying something... XJ220 ftw!!!

  • wow i just want one in silver please

  • i'll take it in brown i dont care what colour!

  • I have wanted one of these since I first heard of it in 1991 or 1992

  • Same here, fell in love with the car when I was a kid, still no change.

  • @justl00king69 its by far my favourite car ever!

  • i'll take the red one:)

  • i like this song, Lul~

  • This car had no ordinary twin turbo V6, it was a Tom Walkinshaw-developed 3.5 L V6 based on the engine used in the Rover Metro 6R4 rally car and fitted with twin Garrett T3 turbochargers, generating 549 bhp (409 kW; 557 PS) of maximum power at 7000 rpm and 473 lb·ft (641 N·m) of torque at 4500 rpm. This engine was not the first V6 in Jaguar's history, but was the first to use forced induction

  • Thank you finally someone, has all of their facts. There have been so many posts on youtube that are inaccurate, some people argue over where the V6 came from, some people argue that it was a V6 at all, etc. My hat goes off to you, rock on.

  • actually it was the first V6 in jaguars history all previous 6-cylinder jaguars had been straight-6's

  • 7:46 for a road car in early 90's??? I didn't know that the XJ220 was this fast. That's unbelievable!!!!!!! Well done Jag!!!

  • @Tommy493

the mclaren f1 did 7:45, and that guy had 2 overtakes and was just cruising at half throttle most of the time.

  • thanks for uploading

7:46 for a lap on nürburgring isn t bad

  • Especially not bad in the early 90's :)

  • did it actually do that time officially or is the hyperactive dude blagging

  • Yep its an officially documented time. The car could have gone several seconds faster if it wasnt for the absolutely horrible brakes(even for that time they were constantly critizied as terrible). Also near the end of the video it shows the seiko time readout.

  • this car has 3 liter engine pagani zonda 7 liter engine and this one atleast 15 years older and so?

    Jaguar is faster!

  • in a strait line, not around a track, but i will agree supercars were made better back then, they were all about the speed and the car, not the stupid satnav and bose sound systems

  • im hoping for an XJ220 kit car from a respectable maker at some point. then i would just need a twin turbo V6...

  • what a beautiful car

  • Lemme get this straight.

People who actually bought an XJ220 from a dealer got this video along with it?

  • Dear Lord,

If I'm ever to recieve a supercar, I sure wouldn't mind this one. Amen

  • Oh yes...thats the Style of the early 90's...:D

Also on of my first dreamcars....and I still want one ;)

  • Awesome music lol!

  • One speedy day in Green Hell

  • This was my dream cars since I was 10.

  • me too, along with the original Diablo and the McLaren F1.

  • same here man. I will drive it at 200 mph someday.

  • hey me too

i want this car, ferrari f40, viper gts, and tvr speed 12

  • dude... SAME HERE!

  • nice video!!!

    those jaguars are beautiful

  • So do you own one of these skipper?

  • Where are the times Jaguar could build this type of cars? Would like to see such a beautiful car today from Jaguar! :o)

  • The current XK. XJ, XF. They are all beautifull.

  • I love this car!
