It makes all Eu institutions accountable for their actions and it gives more power to the national parliaments and the eu parliaments by a) lowering the power of the council of ministers and increasing the power of the EU parliament and b) allowing the national parliaments to vote on laws.

Per the democracy index (AKA how democratic countries are), US is on the 19th spot, which means that in Europe (And also Japan, Australia, NZL and Canada), people know a whole deal better what real democracy is. So you are not really the one to judge over others democracies.

You're mixing up the Commission and the Council. As I've explained before, the Council is an extension of the will of the Governments of the Member States. If you're not happy with how Gordon Brown's Government is representing you at EU level, vote for UKIP in the next election.
It's a major mistake to assume that the Commission is the major power base at EU level. As evidenced by the appointments of Van Rompuy and Ashton, the Council calls the xhots when it comes to the big decisisions.

I hold that every individual has a right to his own life as long as he respects the rights of others. If a majority votes to legalize slavery it would not be the will of those enslaved, and the slaves would not be in control of their own destiny.
Further, any one voting for such legalization would violate the rights of others and thus forfeit their own.

pspman2000, you say you 'went through' the Lisbon Treaty but you obviously didn't read it properly. The Treaty makes it MUCH MORE difficult for a member state to leave the EU now! It would take TWO YEARS. It also gives enormous power to a position called 'The High Representative' who is in control of our SECURITY - sound familiar? Any MP you 'vote' for now can only make SUGGESTIONS to the unelected Council which they are free to REJECT. I strongly suggest you READ the Treaty properly.

Noob i think you are the thick one here, read the bloody treaty, I went through it my BLOODY self and I found it to be a very well put together treaty that tied up many loose ends with the current EU. It makes all Eu institutions accountable for their actions and it gives more power to the national parliaments and the eu parliaments by a) lowering the power of the council of ministers and increasing the power of the EU parliament and b) allowing the national parliaments to vote on laws.

NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.
YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.

I went through it and it does nothing other than reforming the current system to make up for glaring issues in the current system, such as the inability to fire corrupt commissioners without sacking the whole commission or making the european council of ministers accountable for their conduct. It also even gives a process for leaving the union, such a process did not exist before.

We voted NO on this useless Lisbon Treaty a few months ago and now they are trying it for a second time! I am a citizen of IRELAND, NOT of Europe!

Ever heard of the EU-Parlaiment elections this spring ?
The treaty gives more power to the elected parlaiment and takes power from the commission so why should that be an UNELECTED government ?

The guarantees promised to us aren't legally binding. It's the same treaty thrown back at us again. Also it is a disgrace that our NO vote was ignored. Democratic Europe my backside. I will be voting NO.

War Is A Racket. War is the most profitable venture you can get into. If you are the owners you produce wealth and send working class kids to die. It is a racket. Fearmongering is all it takes. If you put a bunch of writers to work for a lot of money you can come up with a lot of scary crap to frighten the public. Plant a few bombs and it works even better.
