As for physics, it's too long to explain in detail, but to go simple:

When you throw a baseball without or with very little rotation it creates pertubations in its path. These makes the ball "dance". The more incoming air, the more perturbation, the more move, but keep in mind you have only 60,5'.

For the grip, any grip is good as long as you, the pitcher, can kil lthe spin consistantly.

People with bigger hands should use two fingers. It goes faster and has more of a break. Throwing three fingers makes it go slower and sink. (Usually easier to hit.) Kids, or people with small hands should throw three. Whatever is more comfortable is the best way to throw it. It's a pitch I've been working on for a year now and and I occasionally throw it in different grip variations.
