  • The Doors!!! Enough said...

  • Ok, i'll say it.

the Doors version is the best.

    ..we were all thinking it.

  • What a strange breakfast song.

  • i love bowie but wtf is this?

  • oh ma gawd. shut up. bowie isnt morrison. and morrison isnt bowie. two different artists. two different songs. two different styles.

and its not like morrison is being ripped off by bowie. the alabama song is neither of theirs.

  • terrible, this is everything the song is not.

  • Poor Jim Morrison! Bowie just can't do it!

  • @thomasehunt

This isn't a Doors song, you know?

  • 2:58

    Never ending sexual frustration.

  • What an amazing talent he is!!

  • David Bowie is amazing. This cracked me up it was so funny.

  • genial, great

  • Great performance!!! I find it also very funny!

  • Better than the recorded version

  • Greatest version! Love the weirdness of it! <3

The Doors version is too easy and polished.

  • this is not a Doors song, it was written in the 1920's by Bertold Brecht, in his 'Hauspostille' and set to music by Weill in the 30's. I am a massive Doors fan and own every album they ever did, but I dont think Jim does justice to the song. Bowie does it well, and surprisingly so does Marilyn Manson and Nina Hagen....it is a dark song about addiction and death

  • I'm sorry to say this, but he kind of ruined this song. David Bowie is an absolutely amazing fucking person, but he was no Jim Morrison. And neither was his band here.

  • Meine Güte! Eliza

  • what can I say...just marvelous...

  • i hate this wanker...i love the doors!!!

  • @parker9977 fuck you

  • @RizzRowdy and u too!!!!

  • Version from 1978 is much better!!! Greater interpretation and voice and cigarette of course ! Better than Doors even. This is OK...

  • GREAT BOWIE!

  • Bowie = God

  • Sorry but the doors version is way better

  • the doors!

  • cuuuuuuuuuuute

  • I would like to stick my tounge into little Gail to.......

    df

  • What's he doing at 2:00?

  • @SirBanuTheFourth Getting into the song...

  • the doors version is so much better

  • i wanna eat him up under an Alabama moon!!!!

  • ROLL TIDE ROLL

  • I prefer the doors version :)

  • wow is bowie out of key?

  • Haters, listen to the studio version of the song. I think Bowie's version is the best one of all (yes, that includes the Doors one), but this performance doesn't do it justice. The drum work in the studio version is just amazing, check it the hell out.

  • @kadgi Nahh, this version is WAY better, i think the studio version is unlistenablae, it just dosen't make sense

  • @SirBanuTheFourth eheh, i think that's why i like it so much, actually. It delivers a great sense of random by drunken stupor, which perfectly emulate the intent of the original play. ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta pum ta pum pum ta pum pum ta pum ta... :D

  • @kadgi Well... I suppose...

  • HAHAHA... I learned about this song last semester in my Music History class...I had NO idea Bowie covered it... awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Love you David Bowie .You make me hetero. rsrs

  • yeah i agree, all the versions of this song are good in their own way. don't forget, neither of them even wrote this song. personally, i like the doors version the best, but that's just me. i find the chorus in this version more interesting however. more entertaining, got kind of a reggae feel to it. but again, they're all good in their own way.

  • So many narrow-minded comments. You cannot compare this to the Door's version, it is a complete different approach to this piece, both are great.

  • omg he's so cute

  • Alabam song - you´re doing it wrong

  • Hmm,,,357 persons have a weird taste in music ;)

  • @TheCandiy lol Rather 357 people thought they hit the 'dis I like' key..hehehehe

  • @botbagel lol, maby they did...must be that ;)

  • @chocolateheroine It sooo is yes...you can also see that Gail Ann thinks so :)

  • this sounds terrible....

  • you have to hate the Doors to love this shit and I love the doors. Therefore, I hate this shit!

  • He completely ruined a great song.

  • David can sing this at my breakfast table any day he would like :)

  • RIP David, youll will be missed...

  • @IamJosefFritzl1 HES NOT FUCKING DEAD

  • Oh wow... it is amazing to hear my home state to roll out of his mouth.

  • muito obrigado classicão

  • @nietzschealeatorio Muito mais que um classico, um hino, uma historia, tudo, e ainda na representação de desse cara, perfeito

  • His voice... this man... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want the same whiskey he had!!!

  • NO ME GUSTA JAJAJA NADIE LO CANTA COMO JIM

  • Had Bowie found whiskey bar before the show? It looks like that.

    But he's still awesome :)

  • Horrible. Embarrassing, Bowie.

  • This Wanker really sucks even if this version is more similar to the original!!

    anyway Doors and Jim Rulessssssssssssssssssssss

  • The song isn't written by Brecht, it was written by Kurt Weill. Brecht however, did collaborate with Weill in plays.

  • Jim is better

  • scandalous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shit!!

  • Bowie is god

  • i love Bowie!

and he's voice is so sexy....

plus he puts in so much emotion into all of his music

  • Haha this is great. Crazy fucker but damn I love David Bowie!

  • Is it weird that I'm not even a fan of his work, I watch this stuff with the sound off to just to look at him?

  • @SnotRockets55 No, that's not weird, I am doing this often, too. :-) But I am a very huge fan of his work...

  • so fu**ing sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A mi me parece que esta versión recoge de mejor manera el espíritu original del teatro de Brecht, hay cierto caos, cierto "sin sentido" que va más al espíritu de la canción.

  • This is the best version! lol though, when Marilyn Manson covered it, it was pretty funny :D

  • Good but I Ute Lemper's version.

  • I still like The Doors cover better

  • 1:46...Fail and LOL at that bald chick.

  • @ThinCrustPizza67 Gail Ann Dorsey

  • @sannaols5582 is a very talented person...I just dread this performance of this song.

  • LOL

  • His face at 0:41 cracks me up every time! :D

  • Love this version -- seedy, haunting and miscreant. Great Bowie. Thanx for posting!!

  • dalida's version is better

  • Brecht would be amazed that the world has embraced his dissonance as its own. Beautiful performance

  • BRILLANT !!!

  • This song sounds more like the original German song. It is an interesting take on it.

  • number one !

  • i'm a bg fan of both david and jim but this reminds me of bill bailey's hokey kokey :(

  • Sorry guyz..I like Bowies voice but this song is completely shit..

    Only Jim could sing this.

  • @iroNMike1995 Only Jim can sing a song that´s not his? Interesting...

  • 1:46 Omg -.-

  • @kackalacke66 if you like that, watch him sing hallo spaceboy in same berlin show at like 1:25 when he says 'do you like girls or boys' and tilts his head. i just wanna eat him up

  • the best artist ever in this world i adore love him looks fantastic mr. david bowie kisses your greatest fan angelxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • i expected better from bowie

  • People are so awesomely ignorant. This isn't a Doors song first of all. Second of all it's just Bowie's interpretation of it. And Thirdly, it's a live performance of it, so you can excpect something a little different than a person who recorded it on an album. Anyways, everyone calm the fuck down.

  • omg

  • Bah.... Bowie destroy and killed this song........Sorry Jim....

  • @CPN1916 the song was from Kurt Weil, ignorant.

  • @Borjagonzalo123 Brecht wrote the lyrics, ignorant.

  • @Borjagonzalo123 strange, that it's not mentioned, that this song was composed by weill...

  • Comment removed

  • @Borjagonzalo123 Dumbass. It's from Bertolt Brecht's Hauspostille from 1927.

It was later set to music by Kurt Weill.

  • @HoleHeadedLiar You shouldnt call someone dumbass if you are not sure of what you are talking about, dumbass. I said the song... a song is also the musical piece, i didnt say that the lyrics were by kurt weil, but the music was... so the song is actually from kurt weill because he was the one to set it to music. Is as if we said that edward sissorhands (the movie) wasnt from tim burton because it is based on a book.

  • EPIC FAIL..........................

  • 0:43 made me giggle :D

  • i loveeeeeeeeee david bowie <3

  • One of many "covers" (interpretations, in English!) of a great Weill song. Bowie has fun here; it may not be "Gigolo" but he's still hot as Hell, too! The guitar work's also great.

  • Piss off david..Respect to you and your career, but for the love of god..DONT ..just Dont do this to yourself..The doors was "The Doors".no one else can do what they did....

  • @didlyi I am so tired of reading such ignorant comments. This is _not_ a Doors' song. If anybody destroyed this song, it was the Doors with their bland MOR version.

  • @didlyi This is not a song by The Doors, It was written in 1927, by Bertol Brecht and Kurt Weil. And a lot of artist had covered before The Doors.

  • THE WORST COVER FUCKING EVER... GAY

  • @faggotkiller30 shut up

  • @Borjagonzalo123 i refuse bitch

  • @faggotkiller30 yeah, fuck me harder

  • @Borjagonzalo123 hahahahaha

  • BOWIE !!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ after space oddity starman ashes to ashes this is the song i love

  • Bad Cover -__-

  • i love the first 10 seconds!!! >w<

  • 2:57 to 3:25 was, like, the best 28 seconds of my life XD

  • I love David Bowie, but this disappointed me terribly.

  • Leave the singing in this song to Jim morrison

  • @vazquezhenry Excellent call my friend. This sucks.

  • it's weird how tastes differ...I am an absolute Doors fanatic, but I think this cover is just stunning...Bowie does it justice and totally makes it his own...he has such an amazing voice...his delivery is intimate and heartfelt, and completely different from Jim Morrison's....

  • I like bald people too. She's gorgeous!

  • to anyone raging about the doors: how hard is to understand this is not a Doors' song? The song is 80+ years old. just sayin'.

  • man he just butched one of my favorite doors song

  • @TheGoodCasino Wasn't originally a doors song.

  • @TheGoodCasino Good thing he's not covering a doors song.

  • @bobomchobo i know what you mean but I love their version better the original comes from hauspostille written by Bertolt Brecht.

  • Fantastic.

  • wow, this sucks more than any doors cover!!!

  • Brilliant version

  • que cover tan mas mierda e

  • strange!!!!!

  • horrible

  • Sorry, but..HORRIBLE VERSION ! :S

  • @cortosfyj this is offensive :'s

  • HEY !!! WATCH "JELLY PLANE" on YOUTUBE !!!

  • fabuloso

  • david bowie likes bald people

  • brecht und weil hätten in die hände geklatscht und applaudiert...david one of the greatest...

  • I love Bowie's different interpretations of the Alabama Song

  • on which dvd is that?

  • I kind of like this version, there is a chaotic quality to it...as if you're stumbling between total madness and coherence.

  • Lotte Lenya he is not

  • this when I understand Morrison had a terrific voice control

tough a great singer Bowie doesn't come close...

  • @itnow Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. Bowie is not trying to replicate the Doors' version at all.

  • @ivankaramasov I didn't say he was trying to replicate the Doors version...

I m saying his version has a poor vocal impact on the listener compared to the Doors version, though Bowie is basically a great performer...

either u don't want to understand my point or my english is not good enough to carry the sense...

  • @itnow But you miss the point of this performance. It is deliberately done out of key. As far as I know every musician plays in a different key.

  • @ivankaramasov, yes, out of key, except for the refrain. but this was intended by the compositor, Kurt Weill. this song is a part from the "dreigroschenoper" of Bert Brecht (libretto) and Kurt Weill (music).

  • @ivankaramasov yeah u r right with 'deliberately done out of key' and it makes an ...interesting rendition.

What I really meant was that on a very same song most of Morrison's renditions outplay others even when they r called Bowie...so they should stop the sexy singer crap and listen carefuly how Jim was carrying a song. but ok Bowie 's version is stylish...

  • @ivankaramasov, correct. Bowies version is not a Doors-cover. its a Weill-interpretation. the Doors didnt match the original, they made a completely diffenrent version compared to the original. Bowie comes closer. not as close as Lotte Lenya, but that is intended, I think. he knoqws the work of Lotte Lenya and Kurt Weill in its whole very good. so he knows what he does. if someone likes is or not is a completely diffenrent thing.

  • No que feo suena no me gusta

  • the lyrics are Brecht's, the music is by Kurt Weill

  • Hmmm.

  • i love how at 2:30ish he just starts randomly dancing... <3
