By this time it was a crime drama. I seem to remember most mission tapes ended with 'conventional law enforcement are unable to intervene' or something like that.
It was a change that flowed with the times though, as the TV spy drama genre faded out at the end of the 1960s. But the missions were still just as great and political intrigue episodes were not totally abandoned.
This is brilliant! Thank you for sharing. It's very interesting to note the changes in arrangement and even cinematography. While a 1960s design the photography and fashions place the sequence firmly in the 1970s.
@megamanj2007 Quite true. I always felt the original was the best. Season 7's version had its charm, but I didn't like the Season 5 version at all. I find it odd that they messed with success in Season 5, more or less admitted failure in Season 6, and then tried again in Season 7. If you REALLY pay attention, you'll notice that the hand lighting the fuse changes partway through the series. It was originally the creator Bruce Geller, but when he was fired, they recast that hand.
Very tinny sounding. It lacks both the depth and sublty of the orignal theme.

Definitely 1970's tv music. I don't care for it, like I do the original. It is still good, but not quite as good.

There was also another 1970s variation of the "Mission: Impossible" theme song that was used in Season 5, too.
