It's an interesting and rare point that the beauty of same gender attractions need not be sexualized. But this video is an desperate, crafty and adept attempt to retain shame. Gay men most often have perfectly average connections to their fathers and brothers and "masculinity". The actual reasons a young man may feel disconnected and "worried" with this issue is because of video's like this. This video is perverting something simple in hopes of having their way with vulnerable youth. :)
Straw men & selective qualification abound to an odd ditty, masking serious claims w/quirkiness. "Which does not need to be sexualized" could be tacked onto 'same-sex attraction'. Hahahahahahahahahahhahah....what a load of bullcrap!!! Overanalysing things does no one any good!!! Who cares about being gay or straight??? We are all humans...we should care about that!!
@splinterbyrd I shouldn't say he. I should have said God does care. My fault. Was late and was in the rush. But it is indeed in the bible that God does care if one is gay or not.
@StylistecS Yes I did, but God has never said any such thing. Words have been attributed to God in the old testament, but that is not the same thing. If it were, we would not have needed Jesus Christ.
@splinterbyrd So you're saying that God does not care what is written in the bible. Words that were spoken by him but written by men? So you're saying that Romans 1 means nothing. Because that's where I was going the entire time.
@StylistecS I just think people have to be careful thinking they have a hotline to God, that's all. Everyone (you, me, Hitler, Gandhi) thinks God is on his side at some time or other. Romans1 was written by Paul The Apostle. St Paul is, of course, entitled to his opinion; but it is his opinion alone and his words were not uttered by Jesus Christ.
@splinterbyrd But it is not just the opinion of Paul. The Bible was written by the inspiration of God through man. This is noted in 2nd Timothy.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16.
This is not just the opinion of man. This is the Word of God. So again, yes, he does speak on this subject.
@StylistecS If we were to take everything in the old Testament as didactic we would find ourselves doing some fairly unpleasant things (eg Leviticus21.16-23; 22.4; being disabled is not allowed) We Christians are guided by our lord; The Devil used Scripture to tempt Christ, and Christ used Scripture to refute him (Mat.4.5-7) Timothy is quite right, but consider Timothy regarding how teachers and students use texts today in education in, say, literature. And ask any rabbi -Jesus was one.
Never trust a man who puts his words in the Mouth of God and says it's absolute truth, it is a lie, and it smells like death, the work of a selfrightous, judgemental person who would love to throw the first stone.
I like this video, but the makers of this film are advancing is a view held by psychiatry in the 60s and 70s that sexual orientation is learnt not endogenous.
This view is currently discredited. For example, there is evidence that male homosexuality relates to reduced levels of testosterone in a pregnant mother, due to increased stress.Male homosexuals are often youngest children
Im gay, Christan and happy. I think the most important thing to remember is that nature is not neat and tidy.
what the hell is this? an argument against homosexual relations? am i really gay? hell yes i am! i'm sexually attracted only to men. i have nonsexual attractions toward men aswell. i have nonsexual attraction to women. i need friendship & brotherhood just like any guy does, but that doesn't mean i'm not sexually attracted to men. no one can 'sexualize' their attraction to anyone. it happens on its own. you're either sexually attracted to someone or your not.
Ok...once again...no one is arguing that this video is describing your situation. The video only argues that it describes some men's situations. And you don't have the authority to speak for all men, that is why we included quotes from them directly. Their experiences don't take anything away from yours. You shouldn't feel threatened by theirs.
This is incredibly accurate! North Star and Evergreen International are very good groups to become associated with in order to deal with unwanted same-sex attractions. I have found their efforts to be invaluable in my life. Thank you for sharing this video!
@ldsteencenter Well i think it's safe for this lad to "speak for all men" as you put by suggesting that all men need at least friendship and probably brotherhood as well. No man is an island, including Jesus Christ most of all. Other than this, as a gay man I agree for you. Not all friendships, even gender-attraction, have to be anything much to do with sex, despite the connotation our sleazy culture -which is entirely the product of nauseating American capitalism- puts on them. Peace.
I can see what they mean, I guess. Same sex attraction is when to men or two women are attracted to each other based on sexual drives, just as a man and woman would. Still, there is a difference between attraction and acting upon that attraction.
The official view of the Church is that such attraction is not sinful. Having sexual relations with someone of the same gender is, and can be repented of.
True. The video doesn't address sin or morality so much as pointing out that there is a difference between same-gender attraction and same-sex attraction.
@ldsteencenter Yes I agree, and I know loads of people especially young lads who prefer to spend their time with other guys and get fed up with being labelled gay.
Some males are born sexually attracted to males and cannot no matter what, even if they so call "choose" to, cannot ever be attracted sexually to women, and can only be sexually attracted to men.
Stop complicating and manipulating things. While your information throughout was informative, your conclusion ("very very different") skewed your information very unfairly and misconstrued everything. What you presented in the conclusion was (to coin you) very very wrong.
Again...I don't know how many times this has to be said. The video does not argue that this is the description of every male experiencing an attraction to other males. The video states that some men have said this is their story, which is true. How can you discredit what these guys have said about their experiences? All you can say is that this doesn't apply to you or some people you know. You can't speak for these other guys.
yes, but in your video you try to completely discredit any other view besides the one you are presenting. You don't say that both views are valid. You imply this when you say "very very different". You're clearly presenting a biased and distorted message which will only perpetuate confusion and animosity.
By the way, I have no issue with the people who have had these experiences. They are valid and I am not one to question them. The way you presented this information however was problematic.
Ive always been very confused by this argument..... "Some men are born sexually attracted to other males". maybe you can explain it better for me... but at least for me.... a heterosexual..... I was not born sexually attracted to anyone...... in fact...I dont think it was until i was 7 or 8 I even knew there was a difference between men and women.... let alone was able to start developing attractions to them. I didnt start feeling sexually attracted to anyone until i was 11 or 12?
uh huh. Youre absolutely right. It works the exactly the same way for gay people. Just instead of realizing that women are beautiful creatures sexually, there is a realization that males are beautiful creatures sexually. Its really no fucking big deal :)
you're born with the capacity/likelihood to be gay, just as you are born with the capacity to be straight. I think thats pretty logical & obvious. No one has sexual abilities as children, merely sexual capacities. i.e. because we are born with genitals and hormones, which will activate appropriately during puberty. However the tendency for them to activate to produce the realization of a certain sexual orientation during puberty is present at birth. This cant be chosen/resisted if present.
There is a difference between being born gay, and being born with a capacity or likelihood to be gay. I understand if someone says they where born with homosexual tendencies. I was born with the capacity to work in the medical field. I was also born with the likelihood to become a dentist. However i have chosen not to pursue either of those paths. As far as i know, there is no scientific method, that allows us to look at an infant and say this child is/will be, without question homosexual.
lol dude I agree with you :P All I'm saying is that for some people being gay is not a choice and it is embedded within them. For other people perhaps it is a choice, I would not know, I am not them lol. For me I know its not a choice, Iv been this way as long as I can remember, I never ever said anything like "Oh I want to like guys" it just was always how it was naturally. I'm not going to keep explaining because iv found with EVERYONE you could only truly understand if you were gay yourself.
I will never argue that some people may not consciously choose to be gay. I do however, until given reason to believe otherwise, disagree with the statement that people are "born gay". Your response certainly could have done without the last statement.... You find you will cause more problems for yourself making generalizations like that then if you hold your tongue. I understand that Many people may choose not to understand you or where you are coming from, but when you make a statement like
that you you generate animosity and hostility and end up hurting your own cause. I whole heartedly disagree with the notion that you have to live something to gain an understanding of it. part of the beauty of the human race is our ability to learn and grow and adapt, especially off of each other.
hm. Interesting that you use the same words that I used in my first response. Please stop misinterpreting what I have to say and adding a spin on it. Its fine that you have your perspective. Its just frustrating that you have a perspective on something intimate that you yourself cannot make a comment on without also being intimate with it. I'm not generating hostility and animosity. This video however, is.
Of course its the sexual attraction that would make you a homosexual. People can differentiate the difference between wanting to be really good friends with someone, and wanting to sleep with them. I know your supposed statistics in the video say otherwise, but I would like a source. And in the majority of these comments you still have not given one. Are you sure you are not making them up?
As far as I know, and I'm open to know more, genetic explanation isn't proved, and if it is, you need to quote the sources. Current sources, fruit of current research, not two or three decades sources, because most of it has been updated.
Heyaitsjohn, you didn't answer the question about the gen. I'm surely interested to know about your basis to say that every gay has a genetic root. As far as I know, after talking with some guys, SOME gays had a choice, though they didn't know what to do with their feelings, and they got confused. OTHER gays hadn't so a clear choice, but as ldsteencenter said, "there is no single explanation for everyone's situation". I agree.
Hmm... Must be pretty close to the mark to be eliciting that much anger.
Let's take for example the opposite, when some 'scientist' falsely claimed there was a 'gay gene' and then produced work that nobody could verify or reproduce (because it was completely bogus). Rather than be driven out of the real scientific community, it was dropped and nobody was 'offended' or 'outraged' or 'angry'.
Homosexuality was originally categorized as an addiction.
This video is incorrect in assuming that gay men do not have normal relationships with other men (Gay or straight). I, as a gay man who is very open, have many male friends who are both masculine and attracted to women, I have always had a good relationship with my father/other older men in my family, and was spoken to thoroughly about puberty and other such subjects at a proper age.
All of this, and still I am gay. No need to be harsh to anyone, but your video is incorrect.
The video doesn't say gay men don't have normal relationships, except for quote one young man who told his story. The video doesn't say that people are gay because they don't have someone to talk to about puberty. The point of the video is that there is a difference between Same-Gender Attraction and Same-Sex Attraction. If you have those great relationships, then maybe you don't have the deficit that leads SOME guys towards Same-Gender Attraction. This video isn't meant to explain everyone.
it's offensive. . . . Not having male role models or friends can NOT cause homosexuality. . . Saying so undermines the concept that we do not have a choice, which every truly gay person will tell you is correct.
I'm telling you this IS misinformation and I don't give a rats ass what anyone other than a gay man has to say about this.
And if this person who made the video says he's gay then I just don't believe it.
If he's ever thought he was gay then he's wrong. . .plain and simple. . .
No offensive language. And I can provide plenty of quotes from gay men that have identified their lack of male relationships as the single greatest contributing factor to their same-sex attraction behaviors and feelings. THIS DOES NOT EXPLAIN EVERYONE. Your view that everyone is the way you believe must be the single most narrowed view on homosexuality I have ever read.
This is not literature, this is not an english class. People can be wrong. Anyone who told you that lack of male relationships caused their homosexuality is wrong. . . Same as any cancer patient who told you cigarettes had nothing to do with their cancer is simply wrong.
People who show you facts cannot be dis proven by testimonials given by idiots. . . that's not how it works.
Unless you can prove this stance don't put up info. about it. . .
not everyone that has cancer has smoked...and im pretty sure that the carcenagens (?) that can come from cigarettes don't travel down to the testicles or bones for example, which aren't even physically linked to the lungs, so implying that cancer is ALWAYS related to cigarettes is a stupid statement...
well one, You're missing the point of the reference completely. . . and two: Yes, they do. Carcinogens from smoking DO in fact circulate from the lungs into the blood system and to EVERY part of the body. To Say that your lungs aren't connected to any part of your body is idiotic.
i didnt say they werent connected to any part....that would be idiotic....i just said they weren't connected directly to the testicles...anyways, i didnt know any other lesbians till this past year, and i've known i was gay since i was 7, so saying that gay people are groomed/persuaded into being gay is the dumbest assumption ever...straight people will never know what it is to be gay/bi/queer etc. so stop trying to act like u can save us/cure us because
I'm arguing the same point at you. . . I'm gay as well, and I'm flaming this video for how terrible it is. Please read my other comments hun. I was pointing out how the people who are gay and agree with him are WRONG. Just like a smoker who says their cancer isn't related to cigarettes is WRONG lol.
I expect there to be some disagreement on this video. I'm just going to state now that I will keep comments from both sides up, but any comment containing excessive profanity, vulgarity, or personal attacks will be taken down...no matter who said it.
I think this is important for teens to learn. Especially those who are being forced into the gay agenda. You have a choice, let NO one make that decision for you. Be careful of being GROOMED by older gays.
I don't want to be offensive to you, even though you have no qualms offending me, but you are wrong in your assumption that we actually 'recruit'.
We are born, and grow into being gay inherently through a mix of genetics and nurturing (there is still heavy debate on the intensity of ether's role, but it is commonly agreed to be a balance of those two)
I am guessing you know **GROOMING** goes on. So please do NOT pretend like it does NOT. I do NOT say it is ALWAYS the case, so please do NOT pretend so!
You cannot affect someone's sexuality as easily as a dogs behavioural patterns. . . It is mostly a genetic trait. . . it is response to hormones that cannot be taught or discouraged. Anyone who does "groom" (I have never seen or heard of anyone actually doing it) is a fool for thinking it can work.
Don't try to get :on the level" with me ok? You are an ignorant person and I do not appreciate your slanderous lies.
Guys, remember that there is no single explanation for everyone's situation. I don't think that omiolo was saying that every gay man is out to recruit and I don't think Heyaitsjohn's comments apply to every single gay man either. Without a doubt, there are some individuals (not the majority) that have an agenda and would actively recruit.
If you could recruit it would imply that homosexuality was a choice and I'm fairly sure every gay teen that was beaten to death in America and those stoned to death elsewhere would not have chosen it!
Think of the implications of your statement! Please understand that you are being ignorant and assuming old notions are correct when you are being TOLD the facts by someone with EXPERIENCE!
You are assuming that people fit into two categories, straight and gay. You should know that there are a large number that may feel some inclination either direction and they do not automatically identify with homosexuals. Any talk of "recruiting" or "grooming" is not talking about trying to "convert" straights over to be gay, but luring in, yes luring, boys that might be in the middle. Omiolo is talking about a very small group that does this. Either way, not the point of the video.
People who feel inclinations both ways are bisexual, and will never be able to feel only one set of those feelings. They will not become gay, and they will not become straight.

it's offensive. . .
If he's ever thought he was gay then he's wrong. . .plain and simple. . .
Heyaitsjohn 2 years ago
No offensive language. And I can provide plenty of quotes from gay men that have identified their lack of male relationships as the single greatest contributing factor to their same-sex attraction behaviors and feelings. THIS DOES NOT EXPLAIN EVERYONE. Your view that everyone is the way you believe must be the single most narrowed view on homosexuality I have ever read.
ldsteencenter 2 years ago
This is not literature, this is not an english class. People can be wrong. Anyone who told you that lack of male relationships caused their homosexuality is wrong. . . Same as any cancer patient who told you cigarettes had nothing to do with their cancer is simply wrong.
People who show you facts cannot be dis proven by testimonials given by idiots. . . that's not how it works.
Unless you can prove this stance don't put up info. about it. . .

RE. heyaitsjohn
not everyone that has cancer has smoked...and im pretty sure that the carcenagens (?) that can come from cigarettes don't travel down to the testicles or bones for example, which aren't even physically linked to the lungs, so implying that cancer is ALWAYS related to cigarettes is a stupid statement...
dontutakemymorphine 2 years ago
well one, You're missing the point of the reference completely. . . and two: Yes, they do. Carcinogens from smoking DO in fact circulate from the lungs into the blood system and to EVERY part of the body. To Say that your lungs aren't connected to any part of your body is idiotic.
Heyaitsjohn 2 years ago
i didnt say they werent connected to any part....that would be idiotic....i just said they weren't connected directly to the testicles...anyways, i didnt know any other lesbians till this past year, and i've known i was gay since i was 7, so saying that gay people are groomed/persuaded into being gay is the dumbest assumption ever...straight people will never know what it is to be gay/bi/queer etc. so stop trying to act like u can save us/cure us because
dontutakemymorphine 2 years ago
1, we don't need it and 2, it's not possible....some people are gay....accept it.
dontutakemymorphine 2 years ago
Are you honestly retarded? lol
I'm arguing the same point at you. . . I'm gay as well, and I'm flaming this video for how terrible it is. Please read my other comments hun. I was pointing out how the people who are gay and agree with him are WRONG. Just like a smoker who says their cancer isn't related to cigarettes is WRONG lol.

can you post your sources for this information? somebody is going to ask for this along the way.

Be careful of being GROOMED by older gays.
omiolo 2 years ago
I wasn't groomed by older Gays.
I don't want to be offensive to you, even though you have no qualms offending me, but you are wrong in your assumption that we actually 'recruit'.
We are born, and grow into being gay inherently through a mix of genetics and nurturing (there is still heavy debate on the intensity of ether's role, but it is commonly agreed to be a balance of those two)
(I will continue in a second comment.)

"even though you have no qualms offending me"
I am guessing you know **GROOMING** goes on. So please do NOT pretend like it does NOT. I do NOT say it is ALWAYS the case, so please do NOT pretend so!
omiolo 2 years ago
You. . .cannot. . .be. . .groomed. . . to be gay.
Heyaitsjohn 2 years ago
"It is mostly a genetic trait."
really??
what GENE is it?
you are ONLY parroting things you have heard others say. There is NO truth in your declarations.
Please do NOT allow yourself to be FOOLED any longer!

Guys, remember that there is no single explanation for everyone's situation. I don't think that omiolo was saying that every gay man is out to recruit and I don't think Heyaitsjohn's comments apply to every single gay man either. Without a doubt, there are some individuals (not the majority) that have an agenda and would actively recruit.
ldsteencenter 2 years ago
You cannot recruit. . . it is not possible. . .
It's getting rediculous. . . seriously.
Heyaitsjohn 2 years ago 2
You are assuming that people fit into two categories, straight and gay. You should know that there are a large number that may feel some inclination either direction and they do not automatically identify with homosexuals. Any talk of "recruiting" or "grooming" is not talking about trying to "convert" straights over to be gay, but luring in, yes luring, boys that might be in the middle. Omiolo is talking about a very small group that does this. Either way, not the point of the video.
ldsteencenter 2 years ago
People who feel inclinations both ways are bisexual, and will never be able to feel only one set of those feelings. They will not become gay, and they will not become straight.
That is bisexual. By definition
