  • NICE!!!

  • i dont under stand why they had to patch 4449

  • @flashperson I read somewhere that it was something the crew of the 4449 did while waiting for the very, very late 844.They put it on in Portland as a joke but took it off in Vancuver, WA.

  • What is that sound that the 844 makes? It sounds like a jet engine revving up.

    I love that sound.

  • i see this video has been infested by a cockroach as well :/ realy is this guy 5 years old?

  • why does 4449 have 845 on the side?

  • hey, whats with the number on the 4449 at 0:46 ?? was it renumbered UP so it could run on UP or is it now owned by the fricken UP??

  • If that is Cockroach2008, he needs to backoff and stop hating. 4449 is a historic steam locomotive and if he tries to do something that bad he will be arrested for distroying a land mark or in this case a moument to the US.

  • @DanielVolker actually get a boy friend or an it

  • Buddy your a pshycho get off of you tube and get a girlfriend

  • Man you are quite amusing! you are having something called "Delusions of grandure". If you exist or not, you nor anybody else is a threat to our steam engines.

  • umm, dude, you know absoulutley nothing. you have never done that, because if you had you would have been arrested. period. secondly, open the water cock and the boiler drains both water and steam, the boiler does not go boom, the draft from the blower would stop and the fire would die down. no heat means no overheating of the metal, and no pressure means no explosion. easily fixable, when you have dillegent crews around the engine 24/7 to prevent is as well!

  • Heheh, here to stay? not if we get to ya! better pray we dont.

it is steam locomotives that will outlive you, and all others.

  • Oh, shut up, train hater! Your ass is going to be hurting so hard, that you won't even be able to sit once I'm finished kicking it! Consider yourself warned! If you can't accept that there are going to be steam trains in America, THEN GET OFF OF YOUTUBE, AND NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER COME BACK! GOOD RIDENCE!

  • how do we get this guy banned?

  • Dude you cant be serious. you cannot, by any means, CANNOT remove the valvegears and mainrods and heavy bracketting or as you retards call it "driving linkage". each piece weighs above 100 pounds. you truly have no idea what it is to restore an engine. we build them so to foil you theives' every attempt. I also just called the yard master and warned them about you if you really are as bad as you say you are.

  • Okay, do you not know what VOLUNTEER EFFORT means? we can scratchbuild entire new pieces from raw metal with out machine shops and our will power.

  • Money doesnt matter you know. They will never be scrapped because of their living, breathing value. To these railroads, even steam engines that lose money will be forever preserved.

  • you heard wrong. all major maintenance on those beauties is done by steam lovers like me. They will soon pay back any debt.

  • Comment removed

  • Me being one of them. money is'nt everything.

  • Comment removed

  • It actually is economical. the QJ's on the Iowa interstate make more revenue than they consume because of their EXTREMELY large pulling capacity. (6000+ ton freight trains)

that is just once of hundreds of examples.

  • you will never end steam it is too well loved something you don't understand its all about money with you people

  • what are you even talking about bank vault?

  • first of all, they arent "Choo-Choos". they are steam locomotives. second of all, they arent called "Gauge sets" they are just called gauges and are mounted together on brackets. thirdly, during the winter the plates, brass fittings and anything of value are taken home personally by the owner who inhabits his house 24/7. so you don't know where the parts are, and If you tried anything funny you'd have Mr. Conrad with a crowbar and the Police to answer to.

  • i can be %100 if this guy went near cp 2816 he would be arrested in minutes when cp 2816 goes on an excursion there are police and railway police manning every single grade crossing

  • Comment removed

  • the only thing you have ever grabbed is............I hesistate to mention.

I wouldn't talk about scrap near a working steam engine, I have seen those beasts get pissed off. they spew out hot steam, flaming cinders and occasionally spit a bolt or two.

  • Agreed in full!

  • HERE HERE!

  • Well, That Asshole got his Lovely Commebts Marked as Spam by Me... GOOD LORD THat Lot of B.S. Is so Annoying!

Great Video of 4449 and 844 anyway... :D

  • Cockroach people involved in the metal junking business usually live in trailers inside their yards this is probably you steam is as alive as a person its the same as murder if you junk it you are what is wrong with this world

  • one problem, His money won run out. He gets donations from yours truly and All like me, he gets thousands of hours in devoted volunteer time, LIKE ME, and he makes wise financial decisions, unlike you who needs to steal bits and pieces to make a living.

The Essex Valley R.R. is one of the best known railroads I have ever had the pleasure of driving on. (Yes, I am 15 years old and have operated 6 steam locomotives.)

  • Comment removed

  • Well I have just driven the little stuff (2-4-2ST's and 2-8-0's up and down sidings. It is you who are the luckyone! when 18 comes around your gonna be working with 4-8-4's!

  • The engines are just as alive as us, and much more alive then you. steam engines are pure of spirit and born from fire and steel, their builders give them souls and put fire in their hearts. and this "Junker" to which you are refferring is soon going to look like a shining New Haven 2-8-2 J1a class, good luck getting parts off when the boiler's hot!

And when she's cold, good luck getting them off when you are staring down the barrell of the watchman's gun.

  • Even if this "Super-Torch" of yours does exist, you will have a hard time getting it into a preservationist trainyard, let alone cutting up a steam locomotive. I realy do laugh at you, your so desperate to get my goat by saying "Ill get your pretty little choo-choos!" Your an idiot, face it, you have no concept of the way things work, no matter how big your torch is.

did you know that A newly built 9F class in 1960 has a service life until 2040 before needing restoration?

  • Dude your so full of crap you keep posting the same spam junk over and over i bet your some kid in his moms basement on a computer from the 90's .... Steam will never die get used to it there are so many people who love it like me steam boy and sampug394 and many others who are willing to devote their time at no cost to steam locomotives SO YOU GO SCREW YOURSELF YOU HATER TROLL

  • uhh dude, Essex just got a THIRD steam locomotive. 97 and 40 are all fixed up and good for another 90 years before they will be restored AGAIN. Number 1658 will come into service in a matter of years, and then comes restoration for that lovely little 2-6-2 Numhber 103. Mr. Conrad, the railroad's proud and wise owner knows this better than anyone.

  • Dude, You are Such a Stupid Mother-Fucker, IT'S HILARIOUSLY RETARDED!!!

EVERY SINGLE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE IN OPERATION/PRESERVATION IS GUARDED BY ASSOCIATIONS, THE GOVERNMENT, AND PRIVATE OFFICIALS.

If you Lay, a SINGLE GOD-DAMNED Finger on one of the Locomotives, You WILL GO TO PRISON FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY "WTF?"!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you will end up junk the second i find you connected to any criminal activity im coming for you

  • Dude your getting the names off of different websites. The Gillette Estate doesnt even bear that official Name anymore.

and furthermore, what is this, the thirteenth time youve said the car-trunk bit? Methinks you are running out of lines! maybe you should stop repeating yourself and try to be a little less "bad-ass" if you will. You aren't fooling anybody, if you stole like you say you do, 97 would need new pieces every month! (which she doesnt by the way.)

  • Cockroach cant you realize your all alone on your mad quest to scrap steamers your the 1 guy out of a million people who hates steamers maybe there are 3 or 5 other guys but dude you are all alone so why don't you give up with your spam crap get a girlfriend and move out of your moms house And realize STEAM WILL NEVER DIE!

  • Umm dude, the engine's pieces are just replaced when stolen, either that or just gotten back by the morons who steal them.

none of those engines will be scrapped because they are owned by non-disturbed people who care about more than profits. Sorry to rain on yer parade there!

  • Uhh, heheh, dude you really gotta get your facts straight. first of all, I doubt you have ever even been to the Essex valley railroad. second of all, the EVR is in fine shape, Number 40 just got a full boiler restoration and is now happily steaming again.

Third, parts havn't been stolen from the railway in over three years because of the very tight yard security, they are friendly to me because they know I have my head on straight. you really have to stop making things up.

  • ok cockroach Dude i doubt you even have a job stop making stuff up admit it your 40 in your mothers basement on her computer spamming you tube all day your really mature buddy

  • if steam locomotives are all for the Junkyad then how come there are so many running with no end in sight huh?

Wehn I become engineer of Numbers 40 and 97 at the Essex valley railroad in CT those engines will have a garunteed future for as long as I live, as do any other steam engines under the kind lovings hands of their owners and operators. Those living machines can be glad they have such devoted rescuers like me.

  • Agreed steamboy hurrah for steamers they shall never die

  • Comment removed

  • I love the 700! nobody touches that engine! (by the way Cockroach2008 doesnt scrap anything, firstly he is a liar who would never be trusted with a cutting torch, and second of all 700, 4449 and all the others are protected)

  • hurrah for the steamers! Keep em rolling boys, I will dream of the day when I finally get to see the 4449 and 844 up close.

4449's been my dream locomoive for as long as I can remember, Plus I love that mars light.

  • minute you do anything im coming for you ALL not just you but the thieves

  • hey man, I would like to point out that last time someone tried stealing the relief valves off of 2-8-2 #40 at the essex valley railway they were SHOT.

  • i don't know what your talking about you psychopath none that i know of are being dismantled (maybe in other countries)and you know what when i have some evidence i will be on you so fast... the last time your "metal thieves" tried anything on 4449 they were caught and charged i am saying also on behalf of you tube you need to get a life and get out of your moms basement dude get a girlfriend seriously its almost sad

  • I work for the Federal Rail Administration and i will now make it my hobby to track you down and get evidence on you then you know what i will arrest you and fine you for all you have and then some

  • I can only say one thing to that FUCK YOU

  • hmm you seem like you actually have an iq compared to some other railhaters why are you wasting your time spamming and trolling you tube?

  • stop spamming vids

  • Why does 4449 have a UP road number?? Last I checked, UP didn't own the 4449.

  • The UP crew put a patch number on 4449 as a joke.

  • Brock, the shot at 4:15 is were I always used to railfan, just 5mins north of Tacoma Station, and I dont railfan there anymore because of that stupid automated horn they put there at mCcarver st. tell those loser to deal with it.

    Nice shots!

  • I cant believe the UP made the 4449 change its number to a UPY number thats just silly

  • the second clip, the 4449 didnt have the up road number

  • nice sp4449 is a great engine

  • toot toot

  • 2 of my favorite engines

  • Big time. I'm from Reading, Pennsylvania, but I think about 4449 running on the Reading & Northern with 425 someday. I think that would be some killer action

    -Max

  • 4449 sure does clash with that Talgo at 6:00!

  • It must be a joy to drive those:)

  • man...that is a classic

  • Oh my god the DESECRATED IT with that god awful patch!!!

  • 4449 had two patches. One said 845 and the other 844B.

  • wow the wayside horn was used at 4:40

  • Great shots of great steam Locomotives.

  • Beautiful!

  • Very good video, should make copy and send to UP & SP for there arcives, Best one I ve seen on here. Keep up the good work. Sorry about the dude steppen in the film at last.

  • Great Shots! Great looking engines & train (unlike that "other" steam train in Tacoma which "could" look nice). Love the big FLAG baggage car!

  • Also, notice the train # board on 4449 at 00:34! It says X- (extra) 844!

  • Can you send me the footage also?

  • They patched a Daylight engine? good grief!

  • If I can find my video camera, I can capture footage of the engine passing through Kent. (By the way, Brock, if you can send me a copy of the footage you captured, I'd appreciate it. I know how to properly format it so it doesn't look all squizzled out.)

  • LOL, UP 845! :D

  • Great video! Sorry for walking into your shot dude =/

  • Wow! This video is just so beautiful. Impressive. I am so grateful that you shared it. Thank you, thank you and again, thank you.

  • Awesome clips. I also wished I could of chased it a little longer but I had family plans. Oh well, at least I'll be chasing them both on Friday and Saturday.

  • Awesome video! I was amazed with the speed at which it took that curve toward the beginning. The meet with the southbound Cascades toward the end was a nice surprise also.

  • Oh God, I hate those "virtual" horns at the crossing at 4:17! Most annoying things ever made.

  • Yer Right! Those things ruined the whistles completely!

  • too true!

  • LOL! 4449 has become UP 845!!!! This is the first time in nearly 30 years that these two engines doubleheaded. 4449 was in Freedom Train Paint and 844 was numbered 8444.

  • Man im gonna see them in person friday, and sat

  • They did that because 4449 had mechanical problems and luckily 8444 was nearby!

  • Great video dude! I wish I could've chased it longer
