The US had M-10 tank destroyers and P-51 and P-47 rocket equiped fighters and air control over the battle field. This meant a chronic inability for German tanks to manuver in the day time as well as a lack of fuel and ammo. The Americans had the best artillary in the war followed by the Britsih. Sop it was not all a one way battle. In fact for those who don't get it the Allies won and the Germans lost wether in spite of or because of their superior tanks.

When the defence of Stalingrad started,it wasnt a battle but a slaughter!German forces had tanks and much better weapons than the Red army!I have read that things were so bad for the Red army that the Russian officers were forced to send soldiers in groups of 2 or 3 ppl.1 had a rifle and the others were holding one magazine each.Once the soldier with the rifle was getting killed the next one with the mag had to take the rifle,reload it and continue!And Imagine that they beat the axis in the end!

In Omaha and Utah the first invasion wave of ally soldiers was wiped out...it was the second wave that took out the guns and secured the beach points..Also American paratroopers (know as Airborne troopers) one day before D-Day were assigned to cut off german reinforces from reaching the beaches of Normandy!Our hearts go to those soldiers that lost their lives in that stunning invasion,the greatest in History!As a historian I salute with respect all those people that was there that day

not quite true. several soldiers did survive the first wave and waited under the German bunkers until reinforcements arrived, and some of those in the first wave actually survived the entire war without a scratch.

this was by far the greatest and most important invasion in history of mankind, atleast in my opinion. when i think about d-day, i cant grasp the type of men it took to cross the english channel on those rafts, knowing that ur going to die on the beaches. but im so proud to be a canadian. the soldiers from ww1 and ww2 were by far the "greatest generation"
