  • AU REVOIR !!! MUAM MUANM MUAM (KISSES) ... hahahahhahaha...Awesome part !!!

  • Hi Guys !! This opera is simply awesome; specially with CABALÉ, THE GREAT on it !!! But, i'm so sad i don't understand all what they're saying..I'm still learnig French and, well, i don't know a thing in german !!! maybe one of you guys could translate to english? don't you !!! it would be awesome !!! There's some La fille du régiment videos that are almost complete. !!! I WOULD BE SOOOO GRATEFULL !!! Beijos and salutes from Brazil !!!

  • fantastic !!!!Love Caballe!!!!

  • This is hilarious. Miss Caballe knows her lines roughly and dotted a few lines on her hand (bless her). Janina Baechle is very switched on and saves the scene a few times. Great humour too "I'm quite used to cancelling" and the exit-scene is great! LOL

  • You're absolutely right!!!

  • Bravo, hai ragione.

  • fantastic.........!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was wondering, what is it that she says to the conductor and the beginning?

  • As far as I can hear correctly: "I wanted to say "That's enough, Maestro! But you`ve already done that!"

  • Thanks!

  • so do I, she's the absolute best, and such a sweet person too...

  • this is so unbelievably funny! This language play and the improvisations of Caballe are really hilarious! She is the best!

  • I was privileged to be in Vienna for this wonderful opera. Dessay was a joy, Florez was beautiful but THE ONE was worth seeing. Rush to New York in 2008 and make a good lobby for her to be there. Trust me she will never be too old to be on the scene.

  • Mme Caballe is simply gorgeous! I attended one of her Concerts in Hamburg about 2 years ago, where she just had knee-surgery done and made up for her still shaky voice by engaging the audience in conversation - all in German, of course.

    Gotta love the Lady!

  • the dialogue continues. To the question why the groom will not be present, she replies "When you don't like the deal, we can cancel it. I'm quite used to cancelling! You wanna cancel too? If you do, let me know. One has to do these things with a certain 'class', otherwise it doesn't work!" more French, then- "please don't be nervous, Madame la Marquise, I can sing a Swiss folksong for you after the wedding!"

  • Then, after the scripted 'have you found a partyservice?' she adds "And I don't mean a shabby one!" Mme Baechle helps her out with pointing towards her 'how about the champagne?' - line, which Mme then remembers and asks "what vintage year, exactly?"

  • continued:

{french. She tells the butler to leave} since he's too slow, she throws in an "OUT!" for good measure. Everything is prepared. - "Is everything set?" Somewhere down the line, after all the inheritence is listed, she says "better than nothing" instead of 'wonderful'.

  • alright, tararep, here we go:

"No this way please, Maestro I can't say anything now since you have already done that for me - well, thank you." {french dialogue}, "my beautiful shoes have gone all wet now..." {more french- she is waiting for the Marquise's bailiff}, then, literally: "Herr Hollaender - He didn't show. Did something happen to him??" (Not in the script)

  • She is amazing, please, would someone translate what she says in German? It must be something hilarious!

  • I hope this become a DVD

  • I don't think she forgets the text, I think she does it on purpose. It's a pity I can't go to see the opera.

  • the audience is great... With the german subtitles, we can realise that Montserrat Caballe forgets twice her text. Anyway, it was a great idea to cast her in this part. Janina Baechle, as the Comtesse, is very good too.

  • Yes, you are right. She was never known to be good at remembering the words. She gives here flowers at the end of the performance to the prompter! Can you tell me (in English) what she says to the conductor?

  • I love her german, I love her attitude, she's the best....
