  • god fuckin damn...i click on matching and nothing happens...nothing =(

  • thank you [:

  • Dude you got some niiiiiicee orchestral. I'm a rap, hip-hop producer but i do a lotta different stylez. Do you have any e-mail addresses where we can contact?

  • @PhamiBeats Thanks, Check out my website and facebook page - you can contact me from them :)

  • @TotalComposure Just checked your soundclick so i found a few opportunities but thank you :)

  • DUDE! This is so wrong!!!

    You're using Internet Explorer! :O

    Nevermind, great tuto :)

  • splash!!!

  • yes I would like to see a tutorial on a rap hip hop beat if you could and then snd me a message when u do one if you dont mind. nice video by the way

  • @JDMb18hatch Thanks for the comment :). What kind of tutorial? Mastering, composing?

  • @TotalComposure well i bounce all my tracks from FL studio to adobe audition but Im missing a little bit of touch when getting the sounds to flow together nicely before i mix them down and then after I mix them down im interested in how to use this techniquein this video on a rap hip hop track

  • @JDMb18hatch I don't think I could help you much, you need someone who does more hip hop type music, I tend to do mainly orchestral stuff. Basically you will be using the same techniques but trying to achieve different results specific to that genre.

  • @JDMb18hatch Actually, if you want to learn how to get more room, space, & a great sound I would suggest you study orchestral techniques & then apply them into hip hop...to be the best you have to have a vast knowledge in different genres & in their techniques. Once you know a little of everything you will come to your own style & be great. Besides, what if you get someone who's not a hip hop artist but wants your services & has plenty of cash? Learn everything if you can. One.

  • you should have equalised the volume of your voice to be equal with the track....I was constantly playing with my volume lol to hear you talking lol....

  • I was considering purchasing this for 'mastering' my compositions, Im slightly put off though by all the negative comments I see about it on various forums.

It does seem a little too easy to be true, do you use Ozone on any commercial releases? , or for TV Radio work ?, I would like to hear some examples of tracks that have been mastered with it.

    Thanks.

  • @Stimmonds The four tracks on my YouTube channel were mastered with Ozone - 2 of which were on TV. As with all things to do with music production some people like certain software or hardware and others don't. I'm not sure if there is a demo of Ozone available but if you can try it out then do. There are tons of plugins out there that do the same thing, I like ozone though because it's an all in one package and the presets work well for most of my music.

  • @Stimmonds To give you an idea, a lot of professional producers use. It's only as much of a process as you make it. If you want a general master, just flip the loudness maximizer up or switch on a preset and bam. You could easily get a commercial sound by focusing on proper EQ and stereo image. Use of automation can help too. Basically, this can fool even the most discerning ears.

  • Thanks!

That was very informative on a practical level and connected a lot of the dots with my electronics knowledge at the same time.It was also good that you used those industrial sounding tracks as it made it more obvious what was happening as opposed to a 'normal' track that tends to make things less obvious.

Now I will have to go back to basic high quality mixing tutorials using Cubase 5 - any recommendations?

    Thanks again, Jules

  • @julianwilsonutube80 Thanks for the kind words. I don't have any recommendations for Mixing tutorials (other than my own) however there are many good books on mixing, my favourite is Mixing Audio by Roey Izhaki

  • fuck me this 11 minute clip is taking over 50 minutes to listen to cuz i cant understand every other word u say

  • @19BARD85 Sorry to disappoint, I haven't had any complaints from the other 29000 viewers but I shall try and enunciate more in my future videos :)

  • Great video.great piece of music. Can you pleaze tell me which vst do you use?I am especially intrested in the percussion sounds.

  • @DIMSTATHOUL I use a mix but for percussion I mainly use SD2 and SD2 Pro

  • Sd2 as in superion drummer?I thought that this plugin has modern sets, and not so much classical style sounds..There is a sound in there that sounds like a metal hitting a metal, like a swords striking.you can hear it louder at 01:14-01:15.What is that?It sounds great!!tnks for the fast response.i appreciate it.

  • @DIMSTATHOUL No not superion drummer. Just look on google for east west SD2 (Stormdrum 2)

  • tnx a lot.keep up the great work

  • @DIMSTATHOUL No problem! Don't forget to follow us on facebook if you're not already :)

  • For limiting try the FabFilter pro L , the best on the market on this days ;).. stop by my blog!

  • Nice explanation of the various sections and good to hear both processed and by-passed comparisons I noticed you have no MIDI tracks in your tune. Do I have to convert all of my MIDI tracks to audio before applying Ozone? Thanks.

  • @dilithium72 Mastering is usually done in a seperate project to your composition, this is because it's usually done along with other tracks at the same time for an album and you nearly always master with just a single stereo file. However if your just working on a single track you can take all your VST channels and route them to a group track and just apply the mastering to that track and keep it all in one project :)

  • is this the call of duty song??? nice tut anyways. just picked up ozone and this is a perfect introduction

  • @geoffcraz No, just something I wrote and pitched to a client :)

  • Do you have any idea how to save your presets. I am using it in FL studio but everytime i use it, it resets back to the original preset and not the one I made.

  • @marcuelcajon I can't remember at the moment, but it does say in the manual

  • Wow thanks so much for this video its improved my mixes immensely. Im going to remix everything I've done using Ozone 4 and your techniques. I know it probably gets a lot more advanced than this, but you have done a really good job of explaining the basic mastering techniques. Thanks so much :)

  • thanks for the video... at last and finally found a USEFUL mastering tutorial :) Thanks again!

  • Brilliant tutorial buddy, keep it up :) Really helped, been using ozone 4 but wasnt 100% on it, now i feel confident with it :)

  • hey totalcomposure. i just wanna thank u for making this tutorial man. i know how to master my tracks properly now. it sounds rly great when u do it right. in this tutorial u shown everything great. and u went into detail on everything. 10/10 for this and a thumbs up.

  • @snakeyuk Glad you found it useful, I keep meaning to do a follow up video with some more indepth stuff but I never seem to have the time. One day maybe :)

  • Your video is very instructive "BECAUSE" it deals with Orchestral issues!!! I've been SCREAMING for MORE Mastering tips for Orchestral issues!! Yeah, I KNOW the tools are mostly the SAME, but the "SETTINGS" are not!!! I want to use ALLOY along with OZONE (and others) , but, I'm not going to put ALLOY on EVERY track. I hope you post MORE Orchestra Mastering videos. If you have "PSP" VST's, cool.

  • I well be buying OZONE for SURE, but I'm also going to buy "ALLOY" do you have any video's with ALLOY? Hope you will soon. I'll check your channel for other videos, as well as your Website.

  • @TEMAOHI2787 I haven't used Alloy. I dont tend to do much processing on individual tracks because most of my music is produced with orchestral samples. When you get Alloy you should do a video tutorial/review and post it as a video response here :)

  • thanks for this video!!

  • Thanks, this program is ridiculous : )

  • This is a great program...If I could only hear the previews in Cubase, it would be even better. I'm stuck with using trial & error for now I guess :/

    Thanks for the tut

  • This is excellent dude! thanks for sharing your knowledge! brilliant!

  • Excellent overview of Ozone 4! This will definitely help get me started with this software. What an impressive difference with the "before" and "after" in bringing life into the song! Appreciate your efforts here and your creative talent as well! (Nice website too!)

  • REPENT

  • Great tutorial!

  • "you want to put the track in a spezzz"

  • @TotalComposure hey mate i have the same problem i tried also to look in the manual book but i cant find anything and i cant find on the web nothing also there are no tutorials on how to make it work, i would really appreciate you help.

    thanks

  • @Kurtomania Sorry, I only just saw this comment, It's probably a bit late now but what do you need help with?

  • just starting with cubase and i have both cubase 5 and ozone but have no idea how to get ozone working in cubase can anybody help please? thanks

  • @jakeyg1990 Make sure cubase is looking at the folder containing the Ozone plugin - check the cubase manual to see how to do this. Then inside the mixer add ozone as a send or insert on an audio, instrument or group track.

  • just starting with cubase and i have both cubase 5 and ozone but have no idea how to get ozone working in cubase can anybody help please? thanks

  • hi,

after the snapshot it doesnt match automaticly!

    what must i do?

  • @JKAYnl Hi, I keep meaning to make another mastering tutorial covering things like this but I keep getting busy with other things.

Have you definitly selected matching on the button next to Snapshot?

Have you changed any other options? and are you definitely using Ozone 4?

  • @TotalComposure i know what i did wrong, i had the source and target both on the purple one,

so i can do it now,

but 1 more question, must i sepertly master the accapela in my song ? and the bass?

    thx for responding!

  • Hey nice tutorial, thanks. Can you make a tutorial on mixing orchestral libraries ? I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to mixing lol.

  • @MrGoNzObeAtZ Yea i'll give it ago. I actually compose in a score editor and sort of mix as I go along but I think i'll be able to make a tutorial that will help you out.

  • @TotalComposure That would be highly appreciated, thanks so much.

  • There are several drums in this track. They are either from EWQL Symphonic Orchestra or Stormdrum/SD Pro. I cant remember what I used exactly but there are definatly Ambient Taikos and trailer toms in there, there are some metal sounds from stormdrum, I think the concert bass drum from SO and a few others.

  • What is the name of that orchestra drum? Nice Tut too!!

  • do u use anything else to do mastering as well, like T-Racks or Waves??? I find that my song comes out kind thin sometimes when i use Ozone

  • @omy4pres99 No I just use Ozone. If your tracks are sounding a bit thin you may need to fatten them up more in the mixing stage. Or you could play around the the harmonic exciter and multiband compressor in Ozone, its all about experimenting :)

  • Thank You so much man! Honestly I needed this info so badddd for my music!

    ur a Genius!

  • @MrSuperBz Glad I could help, I'll be uploading another mastering tutorial in the next few weeks expanding and amending this one, so keep a look out (or subscribe :) )
