Gunstar Heroes and Contra III are not platformers. They are run and gun games.

Earthworm Jim and Vectorman are questionable. They are somewhere in between the 2 genres.

@tonmasboy Nope. This may surprise you, but to be a platformer, you need to have... PLATFORMING. You know, jumping around, often from platform to platform, in order to progress.

The platforming elements in Contra III and Gunstar Heroes are just BARELY existent. The focus is on shooting endless waves of enemies, dodging projectiles, and taking down massive bosses.

Nice game list, im looking for one game that is on ps1 console but cant remember the name, maybe you might help me with that, what i remember from this game is you can play with a friend, pass many different lvls and once you finish one lvl you get into the shop where you spend your points to buy weapons/armours and other things

You're clearly a Sega fan, which is good... it balances out the insane number of Nintendo fanboi's on youtube. Good list, I disagree on a few games. Never really liked Rayman. I loved the Crash Bandicoot game though, only got it recently and it was nice to play a new 2D platformer and enjoy it. Some not on your list I'd highly recommend, Kid Chameleon (Gen), Addams Family (Gen), Aladdin (SNES), Castle Of Illusion (SMS) and Metroid Zero Mission (GBA). If you've not played them, check them out.

crash bandicoot xs is called the huge adventure in america. the possible reason pulseman wasn't released in the u.s. or u.k. might have been because gamefreak had moved from sega to nintendo less than a year later to develop the first pkmn games.

I agree with most of your choices easily, especially Mega Man 2. The only two games I would have added (Metroid doesn't count because it's an action/adventure) would be Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island, but I agree that these games are incredible.
