Interesting simulation.

Cool. It would interesting if you could apply things real ants do into the simulator like building colonys, attacking enemies, using multiple pheromone trails, each with their own purpose. And then you could optimize them with a GA.

i just blasted apart an ant colony in my garden with a high pressure hose; turns out ants cant swim.

Either that or they just don't swim very well. :-)

@LimpLoser ants can actualy hold their breath under water for an hour :P but the high-pressure of the water is like a tsunami hitting them :D

well i thought this was a nice video, its always interesting to see some of the simple methodologies of life which can often lead to profound results.

the fact that creatures can work together so well without even thinking about it seems so hard for people to grasp.

A good book to read about similar ideas is "Emergence". Information about emergent behavior and "hive mind" development.
