  • hi... hey can you do a video about how to change the tensioner in a nissan altima 2003 please because there is not a video about how to do it so please can you do one i will appreciated

  • @PISTACHO305 We currently do not have a auto repair video that shows this particular repair. However if you remove the tension from the belt, there should be 2-3 bolts that hold it in place. Hope this helps you out.

  • @1aauto ok thanks!

  • I have a 1997 for explorer I need help the belt snapped off so I'm trying to fit the other one on but it doesn't fit...do I have to loosen something up?..So It can fit its a 97 ford explorer v8 5.0.

  • @karlaguss2795 You should be able to follow the steps in this video. The belt tensioner will need to be raised and then placed onto the new belt. Hope this helps you out.

  • hey! thanks so much helped me a great deal for my 2005 f150. not a mechanic but after watching the video! I had no problem! again thanks for posting the video!

  • my ford explorer 2000 noisy at starting (look like chain or tnnsioner problem) also the nois is not continuase ???

  • Thanks for the video. I've been experiencing a lot of squeaking in my 95 ranger xlt. I'll see if I can't try this out.

  • I see the title, but does this work for a 2002 ford ranger? Thanks

  • @3994257 HI, we have a video on our channel that shows you how to replace the belt tensioner pulley on a 2002 Ford Ranger. Here's a link to it. youtube.com/user/1aauto?feature=mhee#p/search/49/H4jXC4MiDZA

  • @1aauto thanks nice vid

  • thank, i did my car today and it took me less than 10 minutes...........

  • yeah its tensioner then cause i just replaced the belt a couple weeks ago

  • how do i fix the squeaking in my 1999 ford ranger?

  • @MALSIT22 The squeaking may be due to a weak belt tensioner, or it could even be that the belt itself is broke. I would inspect the belt itself first for cracks, and if it has cracks in it, start by replacing the belt.

  • Very informative video. I had the new tensioner and belt on in about 10min.

    Thanks a lot.

  • I replaced my tensioner pulley. After putting the new one on, I now have a leak of anti freeze/water. Why, and how do I fix this? I wasn't aware that the tensioner would affect any water leaking.

  • Are there belts to bypass air conditioner unit?

  • @MrFRO4484 We do offer an AC bypass pulley that will retain your stock belt but will enable you to delete the AC system.1aauto.com/1A/ACBypassPulley/Ford/Explorer/-/-/2001

  • @MrFRO4484 you could try a shorter belt but it doesn't always work.

  • @1aauto very true, although you may be able to find the correct length of a belt, sometimes brackets etc.. will not allow a specific route for a belt to bypass the a.c. with out interfering.

  • hey buddy i got a gm buick motor with 3 pulleys and i replaced me pre tensior one thats ok but when i give it a boot between gears and kicks in the pulley sqeaks like mad doesnt do it on reving or idling just when you boot it i saw the pulley that it spins for ages and doesnt stop that mean its stuffed?or should the pulleys stop few seconds get back thanks new v belt also im using cheers:)

  • @fastvpbt1 It sounds as though the belt tensioner is worn and needs to be replaced. The belt sqeaks because there isn't enough tension on it.

  • Great video... I did this myself by watching your video

  • I installed tensioner and new belt without a hitch, but when I turn at a low speed the steering shakes wildly. I put the old belt back on ,but still shook. I had now previous steering problems, just a broke tensioner. Is this a bad pulley, air in lines, ???Thanks for your help.

  • @dbytor I would check all of your suspension components such as tie rod ends, ball joints and the stabilizer links.Since any of these can cause the issue that you are describing.

  • @dbytor Check to see that you have applied proper tension with the tensioner. After you put on the belt, make sure you return the tensioner to its set position (you should feel a click, there is a little groove meant to catch a "nut" on th tensioner and snap into place. You probably have a very loose belt during turns for this reason.

  • This was very helpful, thanks for the nicely done video!

  • @Jungleritter You're welcome thanks for checking us out.

  • ok so i just went to change my tensioner today and the bolt snapped!!!! what to do. im a bit of a novice. i dont have room to drill bolt out and theres nothing exposed to attach vice grips. ny suggestions?

  • @carterscustomrods try Sears or your local parts store for a bolt extraction tool. They work well and are made just for these type of circumstances.

  • Thanks guys we are headed out to put in a new one now THANKS.

    lewis meyers

  • @coolllew Thanks for watching our how to video. Have a great day Lewis.

  • great video ...do u have any tutorial for mpv mazda alternator replacment?

    thx

  • @zoughbi At the current time we do not.

  • Thank you for youe help. mine was in the garage and just fell off. that spring thats in it came off too thank you I was woundering how to put it back on. but where you put the bolt on it snaped off. must have been from old age. getting a new one now. thank you again

  • Thank you very much for this helpful tutorial. I just spent the last two hours performing this task. My tensioner was OEM on a 94 Explorer and the bolt was VERY hard to budge. Wound up using a tensioner removal tool to break the bolt free and a LOT of turns on the ratchet. Getting the bolt to re-thread can also be a task... Again, thank you!

  • great video, thank you

  • Great video - answers all those little questions. My job went perfect. Thanks!!

  • that the same motor i have same thing happen to my i need to change belt and tensioner pulley it was more eaiser to work then go out a date with my girlfriend

  • sohc or ohv

  • @youpaynow78 If memory serves me correct this is an ohv motor. The tensioner is the same for both so the process is about the same. Location of the parts may be a little different.

  • Thank you so much, I am going to attempt to change the belt with my son. The dealer quoted us around 150 but by the looks of it we might be able to do it

  • wow, thank you SO much. Today, when I started the car I heard a klunk and found half of the tensioner on the ground. I usually do the work myself when I can..and people are shocked that a woman works on her own car. Haven't checked it out in the daylight...yet., but this is very well done and at least I understand what needs done. Thank you!!

  • thanks big time!

the shop quoted me 400 to change the idler pulley, tensioner, and serpentine.

i did it myself in about 2 hours, for 80 bucks in parts!

your video walked me right through it

  • thank you very much!no mechanical ability whatsoever and this walked me right through it.much appreciated
