Soma... FIGHT THE URGE TO MOD THIS CPU COOLER!!!!! DON'T TAKE IT APART!! I've seen your other video, in fact, I saw it when you posted it... I was going to enter this contest, but honestly, I don't think these cpu coolers are that great. They look cool, and i'm sure they run fine. But they're loud from what i've read.
@VincentFunk : There's actually no need to mod it any further...lol!
I was merely removing the shroud from the domino so that way I could fit another fan just like in this model. The only reason it broke was because the pipes were set in a bad position and also were VERY stiff. With the ECO unit, the ends at the pump actually move so it takes some of the tension off the pipes.
What actually makes this ECO shine are high-performance fans, especially ones with good air pressure.
@soma1509 How is it for noise? Is it as loud as the domino? The push pull configuration helps a lot from what I've read. I entered their new contest for the vantage. Hope I win one, they wont have to ship it cuz I live here in Calgary where they make them.
@VincentFunk : The noise is heavily dependent on the fans you use. I'm not using the fan it came with and instead I'm using 2 Delta 120x38mm fans. The pump isn't noticeable at all compared to the fans I have. I'm also using a Lamptron 30W/channel fan controller so it helps a lot in terms of balancing out noise and performance.
I've been folding on my machine for quite a few weeks nonstop. With the fans spinning at around 2000RPM, the temps don't go over 60C. At 4500RPM, it never goes over 55C.
@soma1509 I heard a few bad reviews about it. Maybe they're full of sh*t, but I read that it's not as cool as air cooling. That may depend on the case they use. I recently upgraded my case to the coolermaster 922 HAF and it really keeps my pc cool. I turned my fans down and I'm very happy on how quiet it is. My Antec 900 was really loud compared to this case. And for $100 you can't go wrong.
@VincentFunk : I'm making a quick vid as I type this. It may not be representative to the way most people use this product [using different fans in push/pull config], but with the way I have my system set up, it can certainly catch up to air cooling, and sometimes surpass it by a few degrees.
I'll include a few snapshots and a noise test video clip just so you get an idea
I have a CM Storm Scout Mid-Tower case. It may not be the best choice for supreme airflow, but it's a lifesaver in college.
@soma1509 I'm uploading a video of my setup now too, hopefully it's up and you can see it. The scout is a nice case but seemed too small for my 3 9800's. The 922 is really big, and not very portable. But I never move it, so it's right for me.
@soma1509 Why are you folding so much? Your going to burn out your CPU. Doesn't matter what you use for cooling. Your CPU isn't designed to run like that for so long. I see you upgrade and burn through parts often. Find a suitable oc on your CPU and leave it for petes sake.
@VincentFunk : Usually I run my GPU on stock and the CPU only has a moderate overclock anyway. I also try to keep the voltages within limits.
My Intel CPU has been abused with voltage, and although I've probably shortened its lifespan, it still works for now. I'm not overclocking on it anymore though since it's on a micro-ATX board.
I make sure the system takes a break every now and then by shutting it down. I make it do lighter tasks when I'm actually using the system.
@VincentFunk : Keep in mind though, that for my system I have 3 GPU's at full throttle, so my temp results may be higher than usual. Your mileage may vary depending on your case, cooling setup, and what other hardware you have.

Hey I just installed this cooler on my CPU, what do I need to do in the bios to make sure that everything works out in the long run?
