Under German rule, the Prussian cities in todays Poland florished and became rich. Now look at the former Prussian regions. Some of them are poor, they rot. It was much better under Prussian rule. The commander, as well as the inhabitants, were warned that if they do not surrender the city after a certain period of time, the city will be declared a fortress. @reyter2007 Well that is utter stupidity. First of all there was no real strong American/British alliance on Sept 1, 1939, and also the United States had a policy of isolation at that time. U.S. was no where near a superpower and had no worthwhile military to speak of. The military mobilization and buildup started in late 1940 and really kicked into overgear after Dec 1941 for obvious reasons.
You are coming at this as if we're talking about 2011 U.S.

Under German rule, the Prussian cities in todays Poland florished and became rich. Now look at the former Prussian regions. Some of them are poor, they rot. It was much better under Prussian rule. Like in the russian part, Königsberg. You do not know what you talking about if you think Poland was innocent at WWII. They had a big mouth against Germany because they were thinking Britain would help them.

Ah yes, and the destruction of warsaw was Polands own fault. The commander, as well as the inhabitants, were warned that if they do not surrender the city after a certain period of time, the city will be declared a fortress. They even threw warning papers out of planes to warn them. But the Poles were too ignorant and proud, so they once again paid their price. Thanks to their stupid commander.

@PolskiNarodowiec1985 But all this arguing will not help anyone of us. All I wanted is to give you another perspective of why Germany invaded (due to provocations) and the injust Versailles Treaty. Prussia is history now, where my grand parents came from. Its a shame if you ask me. I woul d have liked to go there as it must have been beautiful.

Nothing wrong with remembering the past so we can learn from it. I have nothing against German People and I have a Great Uncle who was lost during WW2, I'm Canadian and we now fight with German people and use German Tanks in our Military. Lots of innocent people die during times of war, we should give tribute to them as well for their sacrifice. Hard to imagine so long ago that Canada and USA once fought each other and America fought within it's own borders. Anyway...just some thoughts !

I find it amusing that to this day the Poles still bitch about this crap. Do you guys still live in 1945? In germany I know nobody who has anything agsint polish people. I have Poles in my family and we are good friends. Its a shame that the prejudice minds of people are unable to let the past rest. This way there will never be peace...it will just go on and on and on...

@Gameinggames I don't follow German political scene that much but I heard that NPD had quite good results in some regional elections. What about facist parties - article 13 of our constitution forbids existence of parties that proclaims facism, nazism and comunism... But that is not important. Important is that fact that we remember doesn't mean that we still live in 1945.

Also, when bringing up historical facts, please judge them taking into account historical context; cavalry regiments were common in Europe until after the end of the first World War. Not that far, not exactly something as absurb as it now seems.
Even today we have cops riding horses, soldiers with bayonets, etc. But no, that's not ridiculous at all.

The german tanks were almost indestructible (king tigers), it's just the germans were low on fuel... that's why the germans were fighting over africa and stalin grad for fuel... plus germans would not need to send lots of there devisions to russia... the russians had a huge influence on ww2 after all 11,700,000 russians died...
