TMC-Romantic Period. I like that this video shows how music can be put into scenes in movies and make it seem like the song was written specifically for that scene even though it may not have been.
This is from a movie production that got infected by Hollywood. The director cut the "One Beautiful Day" aria at the end because he wanted a more dramatic ending. He thought he could improve on Puccini's story. As a result it got very poor reviews.
Typically one Beautiful Day is actually sung twice. The first time Madama Butterfly is full of hope that her husband will return and live with her. The 2nd time is when she is about to commit suicide so it is more ironic and much more dramatic. So I think the director did not do the performance any good when he cut it.
@JeeRant No One Beautiful Day is usually sung twice. The 2nd time with some irony at the end of the opera, outside the Temple of Buddha, as she is about to commit suicide
Can u post "The Flower Duet" w/ Ning Liang? That's my favorite part of the movie. Huang's soprano and Liang's mezzo voices blend so beautifully together. And I loved how Liang played Suzuki as more than just a maid, but as a servant, mother, sister, and BFF all rolled into one!!!

No, I believe 'One Fine Day' is included in the movie. And it's at the beginning of Act II, not at the end.

@Poesraven7 Wow, which weird production have you been watching? This aria comes near the beginning of Act II and is NOT repeated.
