This version of Freedom is from our 2000 release "Real" (recorded live off the floor with just four singers). The original version of the song can be found on our 1998 album, "Ignition" (available on iTunes). It too, is a cappella, but only in that all the sounds were created with the voice (before being digitally altered). As well, the songs on Ignition contain many more than just four parts.
@beej808: I'm originally from Saskatchewan myself so when I was thinking of making a fan vid, I wanted to include totally awesome music that I love and wanted to help get "out there", so to speak. Happy you found it, BJ!!!
I'm not familiar with Streetnix so much, but my boyfriend liked their music when he was younger, so I sent this video to him. :) Thanks for making it.
You'd think they dropped off the face of the planet, it's so hard to find their CDs or footage of them on youtube, or anything like that. = /
Of our four official releases, only Ignition is available on-line (iTunes). We stopped touring in 2002, which was a few years before cel phones with cameras became common - hence, the lack of video footage out there. It certainly wasn't due to a lack of performances - between 1996 and 2002, we averaged over 350 shows per year. :)
September of 2011 will mark the 20th anniversary of the group's formation - perhaps a compilation release (with video?) would be in order?
Thanks! This song has always had such a haunting quality about it, it just seemed to fit with all Dean's gone through in Season 5. And I know Traci Dinwiddie thought having that high note hit on that particular shot was fitting too, which was flattering, as I wasn't sure how she'd feel about that! :) Thanks for watching!
OMG I love the Streetnix!!!!
