  • best band

  • i love love love this version of helena beat. the album version is amazing, but seeing this version live would make my life.

  • God dam... that is annoying as hell.. weasel, let go of your nose when you sing...

  • @cajb4 hahahaa Don't get so mad cause someone thinks FTP sucks. Own that shit...no pun intended.

  • Is the bassist Tim Tebow's brother?

  • Mark i love you!! :)

  • NECK BEARD FTW?

  • im not really a pop fiend, at all. but this is one band i hear on the radio that i actually dig. funky motha fuckas

  • @Youtubenoob blow me ,get your own non-pc insult. Let your boyfriend fight his own fights.

  • @nrm158 EVERYONE watch out for this guy! he has the best in music because he dislikes everyone else's! This is good music whether it's your style or not. And i think i speak for everyone else when i say just fuck off please..

  • @SociallyImpaired101 Heard your boys FTP on the Grammys, and they still sound and look part retarded. Your taste sucks.

  • @nrm158 this is pretty awesome, if youre talkin about his taste in music you're pretty retarded

  • @MWOOD94 I personally think that statement makes you sound a touch ridiculous. This is far more entertaining and raw than their studio versions. Anyone can cut a great album in a studio but to actually put on a well done acoustic performance is an extremely tough job.

  • @MWOOD94 I personally grew extremely annoyed with pumped up kicks due to it being overplayed so much. Finally actually hearing this band acoustically. I have so much more of a new found respect. It was far more pleasant than listening to your beloved studio versions in my opinion.

  • mark foster has absolutely gorgeous eyes... just saying.

  • This version rocked!!!!!!

  • God this is so good.

  • i would fucking die if he seranaded me O.O

  • i'm da best

now you can go and run and tell dat.. homeboy

  • I'm over "Pumped Up Kicks", but I'm not over the beauty of the creative genius of artist's. As a programmer, I'll forever stand in awe of the way's in which Artist's continue to reinvent the inherent beauty of life.

  • and that's francesc fabregas playing bass..

  • wtf i never heard him talk before, his voice sounds too deep to be that good

  • this is so effing good

  • @tcharlie911 haha i luvv foster the people!!!:):D

  • Im in love...

  • i luv mark foster's laugh it soo cute and hes soooo HOT!!!!!!!

  • i love cubbies laugh its sounds like a little kid lol

  • @MsPrincessLupita lol ikr me 2 haha

  • thank you for repeating what he said cause no one heard him...

  • I am definitely not a fan of their album music. But this... is something else.

  • they're better acoustic

  • Awesome ;)

  • I LOVE the acoustic version of Helena!

  • @Mcpillz gay ass motherfucker. What a faggot.

  • @TheSeej1 @whysofarty33, @mcphillz is just expressing their opinion, and you're being assholes and calling him some very offensive shit...they're not being a hater, so lay the fuck off and watch what you say

  • @deadendguitarist Bro its a joke. Mcphillz is my friend. lol

  • his falsetto sounds worse than his actual voice.

  • @mcphillz ur a fag mcphillz

  • I. love. them.

  • can anyone hear the basest at all? anybody?

  • @henryjdrake95 yeah if you've ever listened to music before you can hear it

  • @henryjdrake95 I can hear the bassist fine, it is a little low though. As a bassist myself, I know how awkward it is to play with your bass loud when everyone else is acoustic :/

  • You should also get Slow Club!

  • Awesome set. I love the intimate feeling of these Tiny Desk Concerts. Really nice tight close camera work and no edits so we can really appreciate the artists relating to the music. While I love the studio versions of these songs, it's surprising the strengths the songs reveal when they are stripped down for this acoustic set.

  • This is as good as James Blunt. Is that a compliment? Depends on what you think of James Blunt.

  • @SociallyImpaired101 you probably think ben harper and jack johnson are talented musicians.

  • @nrm158 No I don't but that doesn't steer away from the fact that FTP are perf, deal with it

  • Real fans watch the whole video... twice.

  • @LomTang Real fans have it on their iPod and listen to daily ;)

    lol, I'm obsessed...

  • @SociallyImpaired101 You are so right.

  • The chorus is the only good thing about this song. Lame.

  • @nrm158 you have no decent taste in perfection...

  • I LOVE MARK FOSTER. I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIM.

  • LOL ponsi got tired of the drumsticks, so he use his hands instead! <3 4:35

  • just bought my tickets to see them live this summer! can't freaking wait.

  • @hankwalter1

Me too! In June, Deer Lake Park!!

  • -3-3-3-3

  • Mark is standing in front of Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A possible sign that Foster the People will be as great as the Beatles?

  • i can actually understand the words to pumped up kicks!!! Love it

  • I heard "Pumped Up Kicks" and thought it was a catchy pop song. Then i see him in this context and i realize this guy is really talented. Love um!

  • awh before they were cool!

  • @lrolandmusic I'm pretty sure these guys have been cool for more than 3 months. hell pumped up kicks has been out for a while.

  • @lrolandmusic you must have been living under a rock for the last year. better to find good music late than never. :)

  • aw, pontius in the back :3

  • YouTube needs to put a LOVE button here.

  • You would truly show us the real imagination and meaning in music, if you concocted Bon Iver to take a quick stop in.

  • i love the faces mark makes when he sings

  • Marry me

  • i like this version of houdini one hundred thousand times better.

  • Have to be deaf to think he is a horrible singer. That is stupid. Seen them in concert and he sounds great and just like his studio recordings. Actually better than the studio recordings. Haters got to hate and for no good reason.

  • Sounds absolutely nothing like their album

  • Love this band!!! -3

But what did they say the the very end?

  • I love how mark is so good at the guitar, he doesn't even have to look Down, while cub is keeps looking down. I love cubbie, and he's really good!!!(:

  • @brianburroughs go hate on someone's elses music. You will not believe how amazing they are. They are so good, I love them with everything I have. Don't be such a hater. Good day.

  • @CrazyVenableFamily let me love you :'D

  • U ar

  • This is amazing.

    Oh my god. <3

  • Get Mumford and Sons too!

  • @brianburroughs if you dont have anyting nice to say, dont say anything at all! gosh, have some respect!

  • "Houdini" is so stunning! I can't get enough.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

  • That Pabst toaster is an essential.

  • what did the guys say at the end? i didn't get a bit of it

  • @kixxiya They where talking about how no one said anything when they sang pumped up kicks

  • Music Gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and Life to Everything.

  • @05ilikepie touche.

  • @05ilikepie Give credit where credit is due, Plato was a wise man!

  • Dear NPR, PLEASE get Bon Iver ASAP!! Thanks

  • @AML032809 YES. PLEASE. We need some Bon Iver!

  • @AML032809 Mason Jennings too!

  • mark's voice is like magic

  • Acoustic versions are a great way to learn lyrics you were unsure about. Haha.

  • @popjunkii indeed. :D

  • cool hat:)

  • I love how he makes his voice extra deep for Helena Beat here when in the original his voice is extra high.

  • I really want to see what Mark looks like with earrings since he already has both of them pierced 4:00 !!! :D

  • Who paused at 2:27 to read Cubbie's bass' quote?! lol

  • I've listened to this several times in a row. damn good stuff.

  • what mics are they using for this? Anyone know?

  • this might be my favorite thing in the world.

  • Pause at 2:28 and read the quote on Cubbie's bass! If you can't, it's a quote by Plato. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything." <3

  • Am I the only one who absolutely loves Helena Beat lower? I think someone singing a higher part in the chorus would be nice, but this is a very cool version nonetheless!

  • @alexevans917 You're certainly not; this gave me inspiration to sing it lower too!

  • Yet another band I wasn't that excited about musically until hearing them on NPR. Everyone playing these NPR gigs seems genuinely pleased to be playing for an audience appreciating a little depth in musicality accomodated by the set up which seems to strip all songs back to their most basic and original forms. Best NPR gigs...Avett Bros, Iron & Wine, Local Natives, Tallest Man on Earth, Josh Ritter...

  • 1:16 There's a banana on the bottom right-hand corner.I wish I were that banana.

  • Just me or is the Bass Player the dead ringer for Cesc Fabergas ?! :)

  • all through out the video theres a banana and a cup of coffee on the table in the corner

  • @mehar0singh great observation haha

  • I never imagined they could sound so good acoustic. Oh and the bassist looks like Ben from Parks and Rec!

  • Wow, he has range

  • Actually, all of the songs sung in a whole other key! :(

  • @yourshoesuntied12 well lol doesnt necessarily make it a bad thing! :D

  • Just kidding XD. But really, I loved the songs! Was Helena Beat uncomfortably low for the fast-paced song that it really is? : l

  • Now I'm curious about that Robot Dog in the background!!!!!

  • lol @ 7:44 he gives the camera an intense stare :P

  • Im gonna have to write that quote on my guitar!

  • ha i love how he's drinking tea.

  • FTP can be awesome whether playing on a huge stage in front of thousands or jammed into a tiny studio corner. A test of true talent is how good a band sounds live, unplugged and bare bones. These performances are flawless.

  • Foster The People, I'm sorry I judged you only on Pumped Up Kicks, I'll listen to more now!

  • @joshigh I did the exact same thing lol. hated pumped up kicks, heard this, and now have respect for them

  • love the Plato quote on the bass

  • the acoustic version of helena beat is unreal.!! :D

  • he has pretty eyes

  • if you're listening with earphones/buds and youre only using one, you're missing out on an amazing eargazam :)

  • they are awesome at acoustic :)

  • The way the bassist plays pumped up kicks... fingering is so weird, I mean, there are ways to play the notes he is without shifting position once... Well, my bass teacher always says whatever is the most comfortable for you so...

  • Also. Anyone stop @2:27 to read what was written on his Bass? I'm glad i did.

  • Anyone else stop @1:49 to see what CD's were on the shelves?

  • OMG MARK F'S LAUGH IS SO SEXY :O

  • Love the acoustic version of Houdini! Fits really well to the song! Now, when can we buy the acoustic version to these songs on iTunes? I would totally pay for them!

  • I don't know if I'd go right to saying I prefer the acoustics to the originals, but it's a really nice change up.

  • acoustic album please........?

  • eh

  • I love the first song Houdini!!!!!!!!!! AND HE CAN SING!!! Niice Tenor.

  • no matter where you sing guys....you sound soooooooooo gooooooooood!!!!!

  • I love these guys. They're my favorite new band.

  • They're great songwriters

  • should've played "I would do anything for you"

  • music gives life to the universe, flight to the mind, wings to the imagination, and a soul to everything.

    .......same difference right?

  • @byahnesh not agreed

  • @byahnesh LOL WHAT? Noise?? Deff not

  • How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

    ... Uh, I don't know..?

  • Does anyone else think it is rather prescient that Abbey Road and Sgt. Peppers are right behind Foster?

I hope I get to see and hear what these guys do in the next 10 or even more years. They could be really great as long as the egos stay in the background.

  • i actually prefer them singing acoustic to their original stuff...

  • @RKfMaster By far

  • @kingdiamondking What blows my mind is that you comment on a video to complain about how much you hate this channel. I'm pretty sure there's a way for you to unsubscribe from this channel and go back to listening to your other music elsewhere.

  • Há, there's a banana on the table! XD

  • Houdini, my favorite song <3

  • Hey, I have that hat.... Fuck, I'm such a hipster. -__-

  • I wish I could actually go to these "tiny desk concerts"

  • I wish they did an acoustic album, It would be just as good as the original!

  • @RGeth If not better!

  • amazing

  • I love the songs anyway but they sound amazing acoustic!!

  • these people dont look or sound like they have done a hard days work in theirs lives. thusly, they also sound extremely disingenuous. -1

  • @Gummo22 Vic Chesnutt on the otherhand... o.o

  • Is Pumped Up Kicks their big radio song or something? I don't like it all that much. To me the stand out song was the second one- Helena Beat/

  • *thumbs up for the singer wearing my sister's hat!!!!!!*

  • That joke didnt go over too well...tough crowd

  • I'm glad to see that they are actually legit musicians and that the vocals are legit. The lyrics are MUCH better with acoustics at least in the case of Houdini and Pumped Up Kicks. Those two songs sound worlds different, and I like them more with the recent overplay of Pumped Up Kicks. It's like a blues session. I wouldn't want it any other way.

  • he has a very unique voice, i loved seeing this live :) good job!

  • This makes me respect them, "Pumped Up Kicks" is very catchy and I find myself dancing to it but this shows more depth and talent.
