I don't mean to be disrespectful or anything, but I'm a little curious. How do you shop for shoes/clothes? I mean if you cant feel you feet and legs how can you tell if the shoes/ clothes are too small or too big?
I'm a T-2 incomplete para, was a passenger in a car wreck in '04, pretty inspiring you putting up these videos, I couldn't do it lol, I have mastered getting dressin in my chair, but not riding a motercycle! I was in disbelieve watching that video! good luck w/ everything n who knows maybe one of these days we'll both be walking again :)
Before I watched your video on your pump I was like wtf how is he just throwing his legs around with out them shaking all over the place lol. Even just putting on boxer shorts mine shake for a good 10-15sec
@WynterSong Humans adapt, nearly everyone reaches this point of acceptance. I'm sure when he first found out he was depressed as hell, hurt, confused, etc. But over time you come to accept the disability and work with it. I'm sure it still eats at him - no human wants to lack the ability to walk, run, etc. But he is at that point where he can work around it - be independent, i'm sure that really makes him feel better.
I think you're a fantastic person. from what I've seen some videos are somewhat optimistic, right? I do not want to be intrusive but for my own curiosity, I would like to know how long you are in this situation, why and how you dealt with the news. I do not know if you've said in a video but I'm Italian and I do not understand spoken English. thanks
Can I ask you a question? Was always curious about it, but then I don't know of anyone who has broken their back so any input will be helpful:) What does it feel like being a paraplegic? Like you said you can only feel above your armpits, so does it feel like you have this head floating in midair? Also, what does it feel like at the region where you lose your sensation? Does it have a very weird feeling? Thank you in advance! Just curious, really:)
@FlowersOverRainbow Ever been numbed up at the dentist? It feels like that..like I am touching someone else's skin. When I move around my lower body just feels like dead weight. Some "incomplete" paraplegics can often still feel parts of their skin but it may feel dull, tingly or even painful to the touch. My sensation fades at my injury level...so I can feel everything, then 50% and then nothing.
These videos are fantastic, I've been cast as a paraplegic in a play i'm doing for my degree and it's not easy to comprehend the effort that goes into every day tasks, so this has really helped! You're an inspiration :)!
This may seem like a stupid question, and I don't mean to be disrespectful: My sister lost a leg in an accident and it made me think of her to watch you. Do you think that having to deal with your legs as "dead weight" hinder you, and have you thought about having them amputated? I know, that sounds stupid to write, but I was thinking how much easier it might be for you to get dressed and stuff. Anyway, you're inspirational, stay motivated and positive.
@oren76 No offense taken. Just because I can't move my legs doesn't mean they are not useful. I even use them in this video to help me sit up. They still help support my body when I transfer...not to mention I'm not ruling out the possibility of being able to walk again one day. I would never dream of cutting off my legs just because I can't walk.
@blackpearlv6 I think these doctors have alot to answer for. They are on such a power trip, thinking that medical wonders are only going to come from them, when the human body has an intelligence of it's own far greater than doctors could ever obtain. I used to think there was no cure for paralytics but about a month ago I discovered this ND called Robert Morse who has had decades of experience in helping people get cured and healed of all kinds of ailments, including paralysis. Look him up.
Anyone who says this is fake is ignorant. I've had people say that I'm faking it because when they saw my sister trying to tickle me, I had a reflex spasm. I don't know why people are so small-minded to believe that someone would actually fake being like this.. But anyways I love your videos, they're really helping me since I just got injured last June!
Do doctors, physiotherapists or other medical staff teach you how to do this kind of stuff? If not then this could be valuable viewing material for the recently paralyzed.
@PaddyMacNasty Physical therapists do teach similar skills but since they don't live this way on a daily basis, they don't always know the "best" way to do things. I make my videos for people who are recently injured so they don't have to do as much trial and error.
I am dating a guy that is T4 and I think he is absolutely AMAZING! I used to take a lot of things for granted until I met him. I applaud you in your strength and courage to get up every morning. Hold your head high, you're awesome! If I may as how did you become paralyzed?
@09feb1992 I don't get very may spasms these days since I have a baclofen pump. My spasms used to be horrible and it made getting dressed much harder than this.
@blackpearlv6 Ah I see. That's one thing people don't know about people with spinal cord injuries are the spasms. It looks like they annoy people with spinal cord injuries as they can't control it.
I'm in a film student in Toronto. I have been youtubing paralegic people and their routines as well as stories. I'm a writing scripts for show ideas and most of them include paralyzed main characters. I have learned alot from watching these videos and including yours. So thank you.
am much like u only a t9 complete. lost abs and can't support torso unless i hold onto something. i am a bigger guy at 6'1 and 210 and only wish i could hop around like you smaller and younger guys. i get around ok and drive as well. take for granted things from before are a real bitch now. don't sweat comments from random punk asses that have nothing better to do. most people are pos unfortunately. will check out your other vids when i have more time. take care.
I have met only three people in my life who are paralized and two were little girls...one is is on the web...watching u do it without losing your breath even is trully amazing. and gives me so much hope for my friend.thank you for posting.
@nick6385 You actually think I would FAKE being paralyzed?! THAT is GAY. I guess I will take your shitty comment as a complement...if I can make you think it is fake I'm obviously doing something right.
Hey bro dont sweat immature idiots like the one that says you are faking it because obviously he doesnt know anything. The vids are great and help a lot of people who dont know and are afraid to ask. Keep up the good work man.
Nice video again. It will helps to people out there who have difficulty in changing clothes. Yes a agree with them you have nice body , legs feet. And face as well you are very handsome. But i hope you'll have a a video of undressing also. Yeah i guess video of you putting underwear is good also. why dont you try? :)) god bless.
Thank you for posting this video. It gave me a great tool for discussing the challenges of wheelchair bound individuals with my six year old daughter. She was surprised by how much more work it is for you to get dressed then for her.
blackpearl - thanks for posting all your vidz!! I'm a C7/T1, 2 years post (motocross crash) and you're a definite inspiration to show me what else is possible. Love your car and bike, didn't know how perfect the G35 was for us before your vid. Thanks again!!! oh and all you devo's posting about feet get a life
@candykisses832 Just a regular pillow top mattress. I am thinking about getting a memory foam mattress cover though just so I don't have to worry about moving around as much at night to avoid skin issues.
Thanks a lot to you too! You have a baclofen pump too? Maybe I am wrong, but I thought to see it, also in your last video. It seems you don't have any muscle tension or spasms in your legs, do you? Can you tell anything about it in one of your next videos? Thanks!
@johnc65721 Thanks for the complement. I was apprehensive about doing a video in my underwear but I decided it was worth it. Dressing was one of the hardest early skills I had to learn.
U are inspiring, thank u for this!

@Taekwondo3blackbelt I don't wear tight pants so it really doesn't matter too much...same goes with shoes. Since I don't walk, I can wear them loose.
